My Case Started In 2023, It's "2026" Now, In Those 3 Years, I Never Heard Anything From Disability Experts Of Florida After They Were Hired To Appeal My Denial, After 3 Full Years, I Get A Call Saying Your Appeal Was Granted May 2026. By The Head Guy In Charge Of The Firm, No Other Real Answers, Just That My Appeal Was Granted, April Strauss Appointed To Me, I AM DOING HER JOB ADVISING HER OF WHATS GOING ON WITH MY CASE????? I AM COMMUNICATING DAILY WITH SOCIAL SECURITY OF FLORIDA AND GEORGIA, My AppoinTed Attorney April Strauss Is "CLUELESS", I Have Provided Her With Much Needed Important Information That Is Very Pertinent To My Disability Case... Earlier this year the team at DEF settled my case. I engaged them last year and they assured me they could help. A few short months later, I had a trial date. The team stayed in contact with me and walked me through every step of the case. I will admit, I was very worried going to trial. My life was on the line. The day of my trial my legal team had everything in order. Within a few minutes of them making my case, I knew it was going to be ok. The judge had everything from Disability Experts to make a quick and decisive decision in my favor. I sat in a still silence. My mind couldn't process what the judge said. It was over. Several years of loosing benefits off and on was over. We won!! Several months later my life has improved significantly. The emotional and mental toll that had worn me down was gone. It took weeks for me to finally realize how much that day really meant. The total cost and quality of help I received was worth so much more than these guys charged. If you are going through a battle with disability. These guys can help or at least let you know if they can help. I spoke with other firms that just weren't interested. I have had this team quote working on my ssdi case for over three years and have gotten no place. This team of quote experts just sit in there office and do nothing but send in paperwork when needed they do not fight for your case. So yeah not a good place to go to get your SSI or SSDI. I always had to call them for any info on my case and then they always say I'll call and find out what's going on then you don't hear from him again until you yourself call them again . Been fighting my case for 14 years with them and now all of a sudden they gave up talked to them maybe 7 times in all those years my health has gone way down hill and everytime I call I get a new case worker shame on yous !!! Will keep you posted, ps never talked to Mr Flexer in all those years ,all I can say is pray for me,thank you !!!! read more

Woah! Heed my warning fellow Yelper. These attorneys are the most impersonal bunch I've ever come across and they're incompetent as well. Picture it, Spring Hill 2013. I finally break down and decide to get help for my disability that I've had my entire life. I look in the phone book, check out some reviews online, and call. I get a friendly receptionist whom schedules me for an appointment. They call, a man (I've never spoken to him since) and I fill out my application over the phone. He was helpful and informative, he let me know a general game plan etc. And I hung up the phone feeling confident in my choice. Sadly, that was the last of the pleasant experiences. After going to the doctor and being approved by him I called these people. They told me I would have to wait a year to 18 months for a court date. I understood that this wasn't their fault so I waited. I kept expecting a phone call, anything. Not a word from them. When I would call about a letter I'd received, wanting information I got a shrug of the shoulders. I even asked for a phone number for Social Security and they gave me the wrong number! I would ask them to call SS for me and they would tell me that I had to do it. What am I paying for then?! I went a few months without a phone (because this was dragging on) and they sent me letters threatening to quit my case. I thought they had but come time for my court date they jumped right back on my pony. Now I've been approved and I'm waiting for my money. Calling and calling and can't get an attorney on the phone for almost two months. "She's busy, on the phone, working on a project, out to lunch, blah blah blah." They're sure of their money now so they want nothing more to do with me. I got nasty today on the phone and FINALLY spoke with someone. What did they tell me? They don't know anything! My experience with DEF was great! I had used Morgan and Morgan for my first filing, and their staff would be in the office, but have their rude, mainly Spanish speaking assistant screen the calls and not relay messages and even lie to me on the phone. Even with multiple medical conditions, I was denied. After some research, I found that Morgan and Morgan didn't even file a few things on time and one time, not at all. After watching Bay News 9 and seeing DEF advertised everyday, I decided to dismiss Morgan and Morgan and give DEF a try. WOW! What a difference, it was like night and day! I called with a few questions and the next thing I knew I had an appointment in Spring Hill with Mel. Mel took about two hours to fill out and submit ALL of my SSA paperwork online and via mail for me. Mel answered all of my questions, gave me some great advice, told me what to expect, and the timelines I should expect things to happen. Mel even found a few things that Morgan and Morgan missed and tried to salvage what he could with my previous case. Every time I called the office I either got an immediate answer or was called back the same day, or sometimes within 24 hours, as promised by Mel. I found that if I had questions it was faster to e-mail Mel because of his busy workload, and he replied within minutes, or the next day if it was late in the day. AS PROMISED! Sometimes I would get a call from Dee or April the same day, and they would explain things I received in the mail from SSA or answer any questions I had. I forget the younger woman whom sits at the window when you arrive, but she was always pleasant, smiling, and was attentive to my case and was fast at making copies, updating my file, and making sure all of my questions and concerns were addressed. I finally started receiving favorable decision letters from SSA in the mail, and I had a lot of questions once again. I e-mailed Mel, and talked to Dee and April on the phone and they explained everything to me and were very pleasant and helpful. My overall experience with DEF is what expected from Morgan and Morgan since they are a law firm and DEF is not, but DEF is whom worked for me and made my experience a lot less stressful and positive. Mel explained up front that they are not lawyers, but advocates whom know the systems and have many people on staff whom have been disability judges and in this field for decades. Mel mentioned that there would be a small fee for any copies made or if they had to request medical records as that was a cost for them. The previous person whom posted didn't seem to have a lot of specifics about their issues with DEF. I found that listening and asking questions up front will help solve that problem with anything down the road. Taking notes, reading the file folder they give you, and the information about what they are and how they operate seems to be something this person skipped. THANK YOU DEF!!!! read more
