A simple probate of 30 yr old mobile home and 15 yr old Toyota,cost 3500.00 plus 100.00 for phone consult.l gave them all the paperwork,they did nothing. I inquired and the assistant would say "we are dotting the "I 's " and crossing our "t' 's ". It takes time. They never recorded the Will or filed it, Nothing. Then after almost 5 months wasted ,called me in for a sit down and l finally met my Attorney Mr.John Cook. They wanted me to turn the Will over to my friends son who was deliberately n purposely left out of the Will and then to file homestead exemption on property to save it from creditors ( which there really wasn't any)But also wanted more money added to my non refundable retainer. I asked them to put the whole account on pause until l had time,clarify. I went to several mobile home parks and homesteading a property is not done because the land usually belongs to the park or a corporation,usually on a land lease (lot rent ). Then l went to the mobiles county tax office and they had a good laugh about this, put my findings in writings for me,which basically stated that a deceased person can not homestead a property because they are dead. Hogan law firm then fired me for not trusting them, kept my retainer even the 500.00 that was to go to the recording,filing and postage. i've unfortunately had to deal with attorney m.k. for almost 1,000 days. during this time, he…read morecharged my family extremely high fees for very simple tasks--like reading or replying to an email or phone call. i believe this takes advantage of grieving families who are just trying to navigate the difficult probate process. even worse, he acted unprofessionally by sending my late husband's estate inventory to people who had no legal or personal connection to the estate. that private information should never have been shared with outsiders. he has taken far too long to settle the estate, dragging the process out much longer than necessary. this delay has not only cost my family more money but has also caused us deep emotional stress during an already painful time. i also want to raise a serious concern about a conflict of interest. when this attorney writes someone's will or trust, he names himself as the resident agent and attorney for the personal representative and successor trustee. this ensures he and his office continue to get paid after the person dies. in my case, his fees and costs kept increasing, while my family's assets kept decreasing.

We hired this attorney to resolve a water issue caused by…read morethe south neighbor installing pipes on his property; which blocked the water which had originally flowed across my north neighbor'sland, then mine, then the south neighbor 's land with new pipes, and then the last south neighor's land before flowing into the creek.. The neighbor even bought a cap and blocked the pipe so my land and the north neighbor's land was flooded rotuinely as never before.. I pursued the neighbors pipe as the issue and hired johnston. I kept asking for him and his engineer friend to provided a pipe assessment to assess how the pipes were adding flooding to our land at a substantial cost. Johnston and his friend kept pushing me away from the final assessment so i went to acap. Acap provided no assistance and paraphrasing stated that lawyer's are allowed to pursue cases against the ligitgant's wishes. I am a medical professional and we always present the diagnosis and treatment plans to our clients and they decide their paths.
