It also did not have any steps for access to the backyard. We spent a year and a half contacting contractor after contractor, no one wanted to help us get our deck up to par. Not one person that came out to look at the deck would give us an estimate on what it would take to fix the deck. Some told us they would only give us pricing for a new deck, others just ghosted us all together. Enter Mark Skerlec. Mark listened to our needs and then gave us a variety of options that could rectify the issues with the deck. After making our final decisions Mark quickly scheduled a date to begin his work. He was clean, he was quick, and he did incredible work. Our deck no longer sags. It no longer bounces when you walk on it. I also finally have direct access to the backyard. The most amazing part is Mark was able to take the time to match up the parts he used with the current design of the deck. Looking at it you would never know that it was once a monstrous atrocity. It is one complete, beautiful unit. It looks great. And I couldn't be any happier. Next time I need work done, interior or exterior, there won't even be multiple calls. Mark Skerlec is the only contractor I will use.

I called the company, was told the rep got held up. The appointment was rescheduled. The rep showed up this time, however we never heard back from the company again with the requested quote. 11 days later, I get a text message from them asking: "Did you have someone do your railing." We chose them based on: responsive and high quality communication, solid reputation with good reviews, and a highly knowledgeable crew. We love hiring businesses where we can directly with the business owners -- and in this case Shannon and Nelson did not disappoint! For the initial meeting and estimate, Shannon assessed our existing deck and spoke for us about what options we had for replacing the existing footprint. We discussed pricing and various material options. As a pro Trex installer he shared the magnitude of color options we had for the deck and railing, bringing by the sample materials for us to view in our home. Having young kids, we wanted to make sure the area was safe for them by adding a gate -- they found the closest match and ensured it secured the area. When it came to the build, they handled our deck permit with the borough and ensured all was set before getting started. Nelson and the crew promptly arrived early every day and if there were any changes we were informed ahead of time. The crew was super helpful in providing us with daily updates and communicated with us every step of the way -- which is not the case with all contractors! The team worked hard to wrap the posts and take the deck itself to the next level (instead of leaving the posts as treated wood). Steps can be tricky, but the crew built our new steps. Not only are they safe, but they are comfortably set so that anyone in my family from kids to older folks have no issues going up and down. We love our new deck and I hope you trust Build with MD for your next deck replacement! We'll be using them again soon for more interior remodel and exterior work. If you need a deck, remodel, siding, or more -- Build with MD should be your next call!

Let me start by saying if you have a house that wasn't last updated in the 70s, I give them a 4…read more That was not the case for us, and although attempts were made to correct what has happened, it ultimately shouldn't have gotten this far and should have been done right and I do not think we have a siding that will hold up as long as it says it should for these reasons. Now we'll just have to wait and see. Aesthetically it looks great. Neighbors love the look and right now that is all we have to hold on too and maybe it will last a few years. If fixes need to happen it will be from someone else. The problem started with the sheathing in our house which is brittle and was covered by the original metal siding from the 70's. When that came down we didn't see what was underneath, because it was quickly covered with house wrap. It wasn't until we went to the attic where a bunch of fiberboard was blown out from nails that we could see the issue. In our contract it says if that needs to be replaced we will pay x amount more for that, but they chose to not replace and put our new fiber cement siding over it. I do understand that some people may skip that step but we should have been made aware and given the choice. When the install was said to be done the caulking used was the same on 2 1/2 sides and 1 1/2 was different. They did fix that. Windows were missed multiple times and I had to go around to each one and have them address them after 2 visits. One of the gable vents was leaking so they did have to come back and correct that also. James Hardie did come out at our request initiated by Cousins and says that install is correct for their product and Cousins was there also and they did recommend a few touch ups which I think were done today. Calvin was responsive with these issues, but I think each step especially on the older homes needs closer evaluation to prevent this in the future. Hope ours was someone else's advantage and it gets addressed.
