The day starts with finalizing a shopping and errands list. Open garage door drive out, close garage door and BANG! I looked myself over thinking I may have been shot. Then it dawned on me the garage door spring just broke. Add looking for garage door repair to the list. I called a few reliable friends and checked Yelp (of course). Discount Garage Door was the best choice apparently. Called them and was impressed with the receptionist/dispatcher. She told me that a tech would be available 24 hours later. When does that ever happen? Jay shows up on time with a smile. (When does that ever happen?) He took one look at my busted spring and said,"Yep, broken spring." He then explained that the builder had used the wrong spring for our door, which is common because they like to save money wherever they can. Jay then quoted a price below what I expected and that the job would be done correctly in 40 minutes. It actually took him 38 minutes. First time using them and highly recommend. Tech, John, was at my home in less than 24 hrs. I thought I needed a new opener because door wasn't opening and opener had been making a humming noise for a few months. John identified the real issue, a broken spring, and it was fixed within an hour. John was upfront and provided an estimate for an opener, but said if it's still working now to hold off and they would be happy to replace when it finally quit. Got quoted for ~$300. Upon arrival they said the wrong springs were installed for the specific door, so I needed to replace the other perfectly good spring to upgrade to the correct spring (maybe true maybe not and they did not give me the good spring to keep after the job). Ended up paying ~$600 for 30 min of springs being changed out. Really concerned if they up sold me or I actually needed to upgrade. The other HUGE issue is they plastered their companies name all over my garage with stickers. This is my house and you did not even ask if you could do this. We get enough ads these days without people like this. I will 100% never be calling this company again and I will advise everyone I know to stay away from them. It took me an hour to get the large sticker off of my garage door with goo gone because it would not come off. They also placed a sticker next to my garage door buttons. AGAIN WITHOUT ASKING ME. So I over paid and got unwarranted ads placed on my property. I hired you to fix the door, not put stickers where you weren't allowed to. read more

Arrived quickly and even left some good advice for me to follow to service my garage door.

I called Discount Garage Door on Monday morning and they gave me a time slot of 2-4 pm for the service call. Ken, the technician, arrived at 2:05, quickly accessed the situation, and told me the cost. He finished the work in about 15 minutes and showed me how to properly maintain the springs and hinges. New rollers made a big difference, as did the lubrication. The door runs more smoothly and makes less noise. He also taught me a couple of things about the machine itself. We needed our garage door repaired ASAP on a Sunday. Called on a Saturday and the door was repaired on Sunday. Just a great service. I little pricey but it was a Sunday, after all, so we expected to pay a bit more for the service. read more

I cannot say enough about Discount Garage Door. I needed my garage door fixed quickly since the temperature was in the 30's and winter weather was scheduled that evening. This was on a Sunday and to my surprise, they had a tech (Marco) that was able to come out that evening at 930p might I add. He was professional and nice; he took the time to show me the issues and why the garage door needed to be replaced. He was willing to install the new one that evening but he would be there until midnight so I had him come back and do the installation.
