Jake the owner and a trainer has worked with McQueen since he was 3 months old. Jakes no fuss easy to execute training has been invaluable. I have also used their in-house Grooming for nails and ears and amazing value and so convenient. The whole staff seem so educated and well-trained about proper dog care. It's an amazing resource especially for somebody like me who has never had a dog they've made my life so much easier. Great locally own store that carries a wide range of carefully curated dog toys, gear and food. Very knowledgeable staff who go beyond your traditional dog store to help with your needs. After 20 years of going to the standard dog stores it such a pleasant experience going there for our pups various items. read more

We have placed a couple of special orders through DD this last year and continue to be thoroughly pleased with their service. Most recently we needed a winter jacket for our dog. Other pet stores (closer to our home) were able to order the jacket we wanted, but could not provide us with a reasonable estimate of when we would get it. We knew DD carried RuffWear, so went to the store to see if they had the right size. They didn't, but were willing to order the coat and told us it would take 7 to 14 days to receive it. We received a call on day 6 to let us know the jacket had arrived. Next time, will just go directly to DD for any gear for our dog. read more

I've walked by a few times, however, it was a sign about a raw food seminar that actually prompted me to go inside and get some information. Sadly due to work will not be able to make the seminar, however, discovered a great place to buy treats for freedom. All natural dog treats in a wide assortment of flavors including apple bacon. The guy working the counter was super friendly, sweet and helpful. He didn't have to try hard with the customer service, it just came naturally to him. P.S. Popped in while getting a sandwich next door at Ba Le next door. Love that there are a lot of natural pet products. There are also lots of bowls of treat samples you are able to have your little one try, prior to committing to a whole bag. For example, I just found my dog to not be a fan of Herring skin, but doesn't mind the chunks of dried cod. Will be going back soon! :) read more

They are the best. They have been taking care of our dog ever since he was 10 weeks old. Whenever we need a break from the puppy-life, he goes into the care of someone at Discover dogs for a night. He always waggles his tale when someone comes to pick him up. You can see all their employees LOVE dogs. It's not just their job, its their passion. It's a shame they changed their prices, as they've become a little pricey for me - but I understand, as their service is the best in town. We get a night of every now and then, and he gets 24-hours of nonstop attention. It's great to have a service like this. read more

Not happy with the recent service. I special ordered another 3 cases of TripeCat weeks ago and am still waiting. I stopped in and asked why this order was taking so long and the guy at the desk said they don't carry it, but no one bothered to call letting me know. I explained I got the last order from them, so they obviously carried it. He argued with me saying I must have got it somewhere else, knowing full well I didn't as remember how expensive order was at $4.50/can. I called Tripett in White Rock from the store to find out why Discover Dogs carries the small cans of TripeCat, but not the bigger ones. During my call, the store clerk went online to discover Discover Dogs does carry it after all, so he placed my order again, which means having to wait again. Frustrating! He offered me 10% off the small cans to tie us over, but wouldn't give me 10% off the 4 cases I ordered, which makes no sense considering I am purchasing in bulk. I also asked for dog/cat samples of their natural foods, but it was like pulling hen's teeth to get any dog Natural K9 samples. Other pet stores are more than happy to give out samples and most of the time, they offer. I have been a regular customer here for over a year, but when I left this time, I vowed I would look elsewhere for my pet food as have dreaded dealing with this guy the last few times I've gone to the store. I found him to be very intimidating and obnoxious. read more

My favourite store for learning the best way to care for my dog. They have helped with skunk spray, anesthesia-free teeth cleaning, raw food diet, clean, safe and organic dog chew toys and treats. The prices here are competitive and the staff are very friendly and smart. On Friday's and Saturday's 10-2pm they clip nails and give a little check up!! I am so happy that Discover Dogs is my local pet supply store, I highly recommend them. read more

Discover Dogs is an amazing family run business I wholly recommend. We have been using DD for Dog Coaching and have seen almost instant rewards and now order our dogs Raw food from them as well. We recently rescued a new 3 year old pup from Costa Rica, who is brand new to everything. We didn't really know where to start with training a new adult dog with possible abuse issues and Jake from DD has been a godsend. Our first consultation was free. Jake came into our house, met our two dogs 8 and 3 and started working with us straight away. The most eye opening part of the coaching has been that it's not the dogs that need it but us! We just needed to learn how to communicate with our dogs properly, something that Jake has tons of experience with. If you have a new dog or even an older dog like our 8 year old that just needs some habits corrected I highly recommend giving Jake, Tanya and the DD team a call. DD is quick to equip you with whatever you need to make your dogs lives better, we've got harnesses, toys and treats through them and this past month switched our dogs over to Raw food also delivered by DD. Best dog store in the city!!! I take my pooch here all the time for treats, toys and all sorts of good stuff. They have awesome classes you can take, and if you leave your dog with them to be walked or looked after you know you're getting top notch service. I have been to DD about 5 times now, and feel compelled to add my review. The store itself looks great; it's well laid out and full of great products from toys to a huge variety of treats, plus the usual leashes, collars, and beds. I like that they are promoters of a raw food diet too. They provide a lot of services such as training and health related services. What turns me off from continuing to shop here, is the staff. They're not rude; that's not the problem. They are not pushy about sales; that's not the problem. They're not uninformed about their products; that's not the problem. What is weird, is that I have been here 4 times now, and not once has the staffer working, paid any attention at all to my dog. Not a pat, not a hello-in-talking-to-doggy-voice, nothing...zero, zip, nothing. It's like I'm there without my dog. I'm sure the owner started the business out of a love of dogs, but it appears that they have forgotten this. Having great products, a health philosophy which I align with, and a wide range of services is all wonderful, but there's a part of customer service which is strangely absent. It's just very odd. I'll be doing my shopping 100% of the time now at my other destination, Woofgang on Cambie Street. When you walk into Woofgang, the owner Raymond immediately floods your dog with love and chatter, and offers treats. (It's not the free treats which makes it special, it is how he makes every dog in the store feel welcome and loved. He really understands that intangible part of customer service). The difference is black and white compared to DD. I will never return to DD or recommend it to any dog owner. read more

We use Discover Dogs walking services and they are wonderful! They are attentive and professional with our dog. He gets exercise, socialization, and training during his walks. Afterward, he gets his teeth brushed and we get an emailed report. We also really appreciate that they offer walks everyday and have always been able to fit us in for last minute walks. read more

We started with DD about 18 months ago. Our then 1.5 year old Vizsla, Boris usually hangs out with our folks during the work day but we needed to find some support when they weren't available. Enter Discover Dogs. Tanya came and met with us and Boris to get an idea what we were all about and vice versa. We use DD on an at-need basis which usually works out to about 4-5 days/month. Each time we get a Boris report to let us know what he got up to that day with all the good stories and even some of the not so good stuff. The best part is that we're able to trust them 100%. I have never dealt with a business as responsive and as caring as Discover Dogs. Tanya and Jake have been looking after Isabella my lab cross since she was a young dog. Isabella is was a non trusting, hyper dog. They worked miracles on her through patience and caring. Andrea who looks after Isabella on a regular basis treats Isabella as if she were her own dog. The relationship is truly heart warming. All of dog walkers, Melissa, Megan, Heather, Matthias are so positive and helpful. Chelsea does a great job keeping us scheduled and making sure she always has a walk. This month Isabella was not well and Tanya met with us in the evening to help diagnose her and today brought her to the vet. Isabella even got a special treat from Discover Dogs for her birthday. Their daily reports let me know how Isabella is doing. Isabella will always be a discover dog and I would recommend this business to anyone who asks. We love Discover Dogs - not just because they have the best Buddy Walks but also because of the great range of products they stock. Our Boston Terrier loves his walks and every one of the staff treat him with affection while giving him the structure he needs. We notice a big difference in his ability to pay attention since he has been going on weekly walks with Discover Dogs. The Venture Reports are wonderful at the end of every walk and we especially appreciate the health checks. Our dog is on raw food and because of skin issues we are very fussy about his treats. We can get everything from DD and they deliver when they come to pick up our dog for his walks - it doesn't get any more convenient than that! I'm familiar with other dog walking services and I can tell you none of the others have staff that are as skilled, experienced and passionate as the DD staff. They are simply the best. read more

Discover Dogs is great! We have engaged them in their buddy walks, private walks, pet sitting and healthcare services. You can tell everyone on the DD team loves dogs and go a step further in any service they provide. They are constantly providing ongoing training to our dog Trixie whether on a walk or just from a shop visit. Whenever they walk / pet sit Trixie we also get venture reports from them in the evening on how their day went and helpful tips as well! She has definitely improved in her walks over the past couple of weeks thanks to Discover Dogs. Their prices are a bit on the premium side but you will definitely get your moneys worth! read more

I just recently got a dog (Nelly Pitbull x Beagle) and she loves all the delicious dawg snacks from Discover Dogs. Natalie, the manager at Discover Dogs helped me find the best raw products for Nelly- at first I thought it was gross but Natalie taught me that although it is gross, it is nutritional and natural. We have been using Discover Dogs since our dog was a puppy and have been with them now for over 3 years and are a large reason why we have a well trained pup. We have had nothing but great experiences with Jake and Tanya as well as their staff. While other companies often purely focus on the excerise side of things, Discover Dogs has also focused on helping socialize our dog Tucker as well as training each time he goes out. He is not taken on the same walk every time he goes, but is instead exposed to different environments. I love the fact that we get an email from the walker each time our dog is taken out. It gives us an overview of what he did on the walk, if there were any issues as well as if he was toweled, brushed, had his ears cleaned etc. Tucker loves going out on the walks and I have never felt like he didn't get exercised on a walk. The walkers have always left our place neat and tidy and have always brushed and cleaned tucker after each walk. As others have said I have always felt like the Discover Dogs Employees are extremely passionate about dogs and I always know he is in good hands. Jake and Tanya have an amazing amount of knowledge and have been extremely helpful in answering any and all questions I have or in pointing me in the right direction if they don't know themselves. read more

These people really know their stuff. They're amazing! We rescued an American bulldog cross and, without the knowledge, encouragement and assistance from Discover Dogs, we likely would have rehomed him. Or worse yet, returned him to the shelter where he would have been euthanized. We had two unfortunate bite instances with this dog. When we informed the shelter, they deemed him a menace and advised us to bring him back immediately to be put down. They were wrong. With help from DD, we were able to break down and dissect what led to the bites and learned it was all about letting him get too excited where he just didn't know how to behave. With boundaries put in place, training and tips from DD, we now have a lovely, completely trustworthy dog. The staff at DD are all very knowledgeable about food and equipment. They have been endlessly patient and generous with us as we try different collars, leashes and chew toys. I cannot recommend them high enough. read more
