Can I give *10* stars? My children have been under the care of Discovery Point (in one way or another) for nearly 10 years. They are an extension of our family... and I would trust ANY of their staff with either of my children at ANY time. My children have grown up in this facility... and the quality of our children's character is due, in part, to the guidance and love they've received from the staff at Discovery Point. The wonderful teachers at Discovery Point are nothing but kind, compassionate, loving, and caring individuals who care deeply about the well being of EVERY child that walks through that front door. Our 5 year old daughter just graduated Pre-K from Discovery Point Cumming and I couldn't be happier with how much she has learned in these past 9 months! Her teachers, Miss Dana and Miss Kayla have just been WONDERFUL! I don't think I could have gotten better teachers if I tried! They taught her so much in such a short period of time, that I am proud to give them 5 stars! From her days of the week, months in the year, how the seasons change,how to read and write,shapes,patterns (abab,abbabbabb), weather changes... they are amazing at what they do! They keep parents in the loop as well,sending us weekly emails to keep us informed as to what they will be learning,field trips,and fun days like "Dress Like a Superhero" to "Wear your favorite color"! They create a fun environment for kids to learn and ve successful and independent! I am so proud of my big girl and feel confident that Discovery Point have not only prepared her for, but have also given her the tools to succeed in Kindergarten! We have tried several different options in the Cumming area for care of our three children -- Primrose-Steeple Chase, The Learning Experience (now closed), and even an at-home nanny. Our experience at Discovery Point has been truly exceptional. Our kids learn so much every day at Discovery Point. Our twin 4-year-olds are so excited to tell us how they learned about, for instance, the life cycle of a plant or that transportation means to get from one point to another. We are all about education, so it's really great to hear our kids not only know these things, but to be excited about them as well. In addition to the education, the teachers are caring, the summer camp is awesome, the bus to and from the elementary schools are a godsend, and they are constantly improving the facilities. Last but not least, a very special "A+" to the director, Kristi Leonard, who is simply amazing. We have been very pleased with Discovery Point. They have been a great asset to our family and we look forward to continuing with them. read more

My daughter, now 4 years old, has attended this Discovery Point for almost 2 years. In the past our family has used home daycares, other childcare centers, and even a nanny. By far, our experience with Discovery Point Bethelview has been the best, and I would not hesitate to recommend them. read more

Both of my children have attended Discovery Point. My oldest who is now in middle school attended from Kindergarten through 5th grade and still has fond memories of the teachers and staff. My youngest son has attended from the age of 2 1/2 and is now in Pre-K there. He has loved all of his teachers and enjoys school. It is hard to find someone you trust and feel comfortable leaving your children with. My husband and I enrolled our son when he was 12 weeks old and he is turning four next month. We can't say enough about how attentive and caring the teachers are. We take great comfort in knowing that Drew is engaged throughout the day with lessons, play, routine, and fun! I love hearing what he learns about each day! Upon our first visit to research day cares, Ms. Kristi, the director, was the reason we chose not to look anywhere else. We knew from that very moment that she and the owner, Mr. How's, had a very clean, organized, and professionally run and safe place for our child. In the four years my son has attended, two of his teachers have been well-deserving recipients of national awards. I am a parent of a 3-year-old girl who was attending discovery point in Cumming, Ga, on Bethelview road. My girl was at home for 3 years with me until recently I put her into this day care 7 weeks ago. Also, she did not have any play time with other kids before because we don't have any family here. In our family we speak 3 languages, that's why she is a little behind in starting speaking English as well as other languages. She only can say couple of word together not whole sentences. During first month my daughter didn't eat there at all, because she did not use to sit at a big table with a group of other kids. She was just hungry for 11 hours during the day, sitting in a small chair by the wall. Nobody cared about that, they did not try to feed her by other ways, not at that big table. Also, she doesn't understand in English yet, that why teachers were mad and they always grabbed her by her hand and put her in a chair, so she doesn't bother them during their normal activities. Instead of making a child interested in different activities with other kinds, they were constantly pushing her away (literally, I saw it on camera) or putting her in a chair by the wall. I saw on camera that a teacher grabbed her by her hand, pulled her up into the air and put in that chair. Also, they never paid attention to her because she did not understand, so they decided just to ignore her and push her away. I saw on camera how my daughter fell asleep in that chair in the morning sitting. Her head was on her knees, she was clearly uncomfortable. I called them, and they said nothing they can do, they can't put her on mattress because it is not a nap time. Also they keep sending an activity emails daily, that says how many hours a child sleeps and how much eats. The email says one thing, and when I ask the teacher she tells me completely different thing. Every time I picked her up, I listened to complains that she doesn't do anything just sitting in that chair (they put her there and she was scared to get up). Couple weeks later, she started sitting at that table to eat with everybody, and again I had to listen to complains that she takes food from other kids, and she carries her water bottle around that is not allowed. One day I came to pick her up, the teacher started to complain that my baby was opening other kinds little boxes with their staff, and other parents are not happy about that. I was told all that in a very loud form in front of other 3 parents. Later, the teacher stopped to complain and was saying that my daughter had a good day and even started to call her by her name. So I was happy and thought that everything was fine until today. Today I picked her up and was taken to the office by the receptionist Patty. She gave me a bunch of complains/accident reports on my child. She called her aggressive and said that other parents are not happy about my daughter being with their kids. Those reports said that my baby kicked somebody in a face, through somebody's head against the door, hit somebody in the face, and threw scissors into somebody. The receptionist told me that they didn't give it to me before because they thought she is new and she has a language barrier. All those accidents were dated the same date. Patty called by daughter aggressive and said that she has a language barrier. Who saw it happened or they just listened to other kids' words? The receptionist told me that they will keep doing those accident reports and eventually suspend my daughter from this day care. She told me all that in the evening during a very heavy rain. I could not see the road because of the heavy rain and after I left the day care, I was so upset and almost crying that I could have an accident. The next day, she called my husband telling him they don't want my daughter in there day care because of a language barrier. This is a discrimination. And we are American citizens. When my husband came to pick her up, she was outside wearing only a small t-shirt on a cold November evening, although she had a sweater and a jacket in her bag. Today morning I told another receptionist Chris not to let my daughter run around with her blanket because she can fall down. After an hour I checked the camera, and she was playing with her blanket. I had to call them and tell them to take a blanket away from her. We took her out from that hell, where teachers are unprofessional and careless. Nobody cares about kids who are not convenient for them. They don't want to work and pay attention to kids who need it. read more

Both of my children attend Discovery Point and we love it there. They are always very attentive to my children's needs and mine as well. My child is in the younger class and his teacher is always very loving and engaged with the kids in the class. There is a negative review written previously and I know the teacher of that class very well. She is extremely attentive and caring. Any time I've had any concerns about my child, the teacher and director was always helpful. I've never had any negative experiences with the teacher or day care facility. They are wonderful and I'd recommend Discovery Point to anyone. read more

If I could leave no stars, I would. My child was just blatantly neglected. She came from another day care fully potty trained 2.5 yo and was generally a well behaved child. She never made a fuss in the morning and generally always had a good time at day care. This first few days she did fine. Then we got a boo boo report on the third day about an accident. In the rush of kids our daughter got knocked over and hit her head on the concrete with a goose egg. Not only did they not notify us when it happened, they casually tried to play it off. Then on the same exact day she was bitten by another child. It's been two weeks and she still has a bruise from his bite. So we address the director- Christy and she opted to move us to another classroom. She said there were a lot of children in the classroom that were going to transition out but that still did not explain why my child was neglected because of their lack of foresight. So we moved classes and teachers opting to give it another week. Now all this time, my daughter who was fully potty trained, had accidents every day. They were just putting on pulls ups because they were lazy after almost every accident. I was appalled but continually communicated with teachers in faith they would just pay more attention and take her more often. So the next week, every day she has Accidents and every day I'm told something different. One teacher told me that they just forgot to put on a pull on up during nap time. Fine. My child regressed in potty training now but I can fix that. Now every morning she is having fits leaving me, I thought it was just the new classroom and teachers. But when I got to pick her up this afternoon, I'm told the kids are outside. I walk outside to see my daughter screaming bloody murder in a corner of the play ground, no teacher in sight, screaming "my head my head hurt!" I look for the teacher only to find her on the other side of the play ground. The teachers name is Danielle. I ask her what happened to her head. I was told that she just ran around the corner. I asked my daughter what happened. All she can say is my head hurt my head hurt and there was a visible knot forming on her head. So being furious I grab my daughters things, walk to the front and ask for the director to call me. Or course there are no cameras outside so I will have no idea what really happened to my daughter. The Director never called me, and it took my husband threatening to file a report and call the cops, which we are still going to do, to get the Director Christy to call us. The only person who did anything right was one member of the staff upon seeing how upset I was offered us ice. Kudos to her. Christy did not own up to anything, never apologized for what happened and did nothing to try to make it right for my family. I am not normally a HM mom, but deep down something isn't right at this place. Whether the teachers or the over sized classrooms or even management. Otherwise there was such a blatant disregard for my daughters safety, I'm shocked and appalled. I have never had such a terrible experience at a day care and I would not wish what I experienced on any parent. They sold us on how all the teachers were teachers of the year and awarded and licensed and had structured learning plans. I am calling BS on that. It got to the point that one teacher asked me if my daughter talked at home because she doesn't talk at school. My daughter can talk her ears off to the mail man and she won't talk to the staff at that school? Sometimes kids know things we don't. read more

This child care center is amazing! My son has been going there since he was 1 and now is about to graduate pre-k from there and my daughter started at 3 months. Both of them look forward to going to school each day and I can see the love these teachers and staff have for my children. My son actually gets excited when they have a parents night out and tells me "only kids allowed". They use technology to help the kids grow academically and they follow lesson plans. I am always amazed with what both my children have learned each day. I highly recommend this school! read more

My grandson has been coming here since he was 10 months old. He is 4 1/2 years old. He has grown so much with the loving care of all of his teachers. He had his first febrile seizure at this daycare center and they calmly and lovingly managed the situation until the ambulance arrived. These people have exceeded my expectations for several years now and am extremely confident that they will continue to do so. I highly and heartily recommend this child development facility to anyone who is looking for a place for their child to grow, learn and be loved. read more

Our son Anthony has attended Discovery Point Bethelview since he was 8 weeks old, he is now almost 4. They have honestly come to be our second family. They go over and beyond to help in any way they can. Here is an example....My son has quite a lot of separation anxiety. I happen to have the pleasure of being the one to drop him off at 6:30. He has certain ladies that he is most comfortable; one of them, Miss Sharon, moved to a new class and started coming in later....unfortunately we went through a period where it was extra difficult. Within a week...his favorite teacher, Ms. Ellayna, started coming in first thing in the morning. He was so excited to see her in the morning....Anytime we are concerned about something....they are right there to offer suggestions or help rectify the problem. They have had three teachers now win the National Child Care Teacher Award. Two of which my son had the privilege of being in their class. Mr Hows treats his employees with care...he's always there...he dresses up with the kids... I really can't say enough about this group. read more

Our child was seriously injured at this daycare (multiple broken bones) while in the care of this center. Bright from the Start investigated but was unable to prove the daycare caused my child's injury since their were no cameras outside. What's worse is that my child's cries of being in pain were ignored for 20-30 minutes until I picked up. The inside video showed my child standing by the gate crying and holding her injured arm. A video the daycare conveniently forgot to mention re-recorded over after 7 days. Bright again said their was nothing they could do because they are not required to have video. My child was too young to be able to communicate to us what happened. I took my child straight to urgent care and X-rays revealed two fractures the doctor said were consistent with being yanked out of the swing. We pulled our children immediately from the daycare. The center had no intention of making any staff changes. The daycare center has yet to come through for paying medical expenses. We asked for them to reimburse us for the week the injury occurred. They gave me a check I couldn't cash until they were confronted by their own bank that the signatures didn't match. I would not recommend this daycare and do not trust the owner or director. Leading up to this incident, we expressed concerns about the lack of supervision on the playground, staff turnover and meeting my child's basic needs (failing to change her clothes after BM leak, keeping her clothes dry after playing on wet playground equipment and failing to apply diaper cream when red.) I wish I had pulled my children before this incident, and I feel compelled to share our experience because I do not want another family to have to experience what we went through. read more

As a teacher of almost 14 years at Discovery Point on Bethelview Road, I can honestly say that we have the most amazing staff, management and owner!! The parents and their children that come in our doors everyday are a true blessing! We have a high standard of caring and teaching and strive to make it better with each passing day! Our goal is to teach our children, love them and nurture them in their growth. The teaching staff here goes way beyond just being that of a teacher.... we love the children and their families and we are always on hand to make sure the needs of each one is met! We love seeing the children come in to start their day with us with a smile on their faces and feel very good about sending them home at the end of their day with that same smile and a story to tell Mom and Dad about how their day went and what they learned!
