He explained the course of treatment and was proactive in getting me set up with infectious disease to make sure it didn't get worse meanwhile scheduling for my skin graft procedures. My skin graft procedures went well and he described the entire process so I knew what to expect, even the "worst case scenario" which I very much appreciated because sometimes things do go wrong. Fortunately, everything went as planned and I couldn't be happier. However, if the graft didn't take I know, because he told me, there were other options and I felt confident he could fix it.

It was the pandemic, of course, and pre-vaccines, so I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it was such an unpleasant experience to see her that I stopped going and found another specialist at a different practice (who was fantastic). Unfortunately, the fantastic specialist at the different practice retired and when I called Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates to make an appointment with someone other than Dr. Diamond for another issue, I was told that was not possible. The receptionist transferred me to her supervisor, who confirmed that about a year ago (2025?), Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates implemented a new policy whereby patients who have previously seen one of the doctors in the practice cannot make another appointment with a different doctor in the practice. The supervisor asked if I had filed a complaint in Fall 2020. I replied that I had not, it was the pandemic, I was in pain and could barely walk, and that I simply voted with my feet and never returned. The supervisor then suggested that I give Dr. Diamond "a second chance." I said that another doctor I see for other issues had confirmed that Dr. Diamond's reputation has worsened in recent years, so I would not see her again. It's frustrating that Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates, the largest practice of its kind in the area, has this policy because the DMV is an increasingly aging population and there are many of us who need to see a rheumatologist we like and trust.

Not once was I ever told the cost of services prior to any visit. This goes against the No Surprises Act of 2022. I have already reported One Medical to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. I have requested they adjust my bill accordingly, but I keep getting bills via email and mail. I even called at the beginning of 2022 to confirm my new insurance was accepted, and they confirmed it was. They used to be an amazing practice, but things have severely changed. I will not be renewing my membership even though I've been a member for years.

Dr. Stas, unfortunately, neglected to mention to me the importance of watching my blood iron levels…read morewith severe bleedings and, as a result, my hemoglobin levels dropped to 6.1, and I ended up in a hospital in April 2023 needing two blood transfusions. I had to diagnose myself with the help of friends who experienced similar symptoms. I started talking to Dr. Stas in December 2021 about bleeding between periods due to my fibroids and mentioned severe bleedings with huge blood clots in January 2022. Not once did she mention that I need to keep an eye on my blood levels. This is such a basic issue that it is truly puzzling how an OBGYN can be so neglectful. What was especially upsetting is that when I came to her after the blood transfusions, she said, with a smile, "So you are really having trouble with these fibroids?" as if this was such a surprise to her. She recommended ablations and a lot of other procedures, which, as it turns out, were not needed. Another doctor quickly established that I had a prolapsing fibroid that could be quickly removed, and two weeks later, my bleedings were gone. I am 50 years old and have seen a lot of healthcare professionals, but such a level of neglect and just general lack of care for a patient's wellbeing is unprecedented.
