They do what they say on the tin, selling a huge selection of lighting appliances, from chandeliers to lampshades to fairly lights to halogen lights etc etc. They also sell bits and bobs of furniture and they have lots of sales throughout the year for the locals to go in and pick up a bargain. They're managing to survive the recession up to now, which I guess is great given that many people are cutting back on lavish spending. It's also surprising that an independent store survives, with the likes of Rapid, Taskers and B and Q being within a 20 minute drive. Also, Ikea is less than an hour's drive away and is the king of any home appliance/furniture stores! Have a look; they may just light up your life!

As you enter it is rather grandiose with glimmers of gold and bronze and exudes elegance. For those wishing to furnish their homes with a few expensive touches, then the candelabras here are something really special. They have items from the Ralph Lauren Collection and an entirely steel 3 drawer cabinet which to me seems OTT but if you're looking for a centre piece...and I particularly liked the stacked trunks and solid wood chests. Maybe in 20 years I'll be able to come back in here and be more serious about it's contents!

The furniture is very pricey but it's excellent quality and you can tell a lot of time has gone in to designing the furniture and lighting art work. Whilst the furniture is awesome, the shop on allerton road is very intimidating and it almost looks like the products in the shop are behind bars. Maybe this is because it is all so expensive and so they need to keep the shop a bit more shut up? I think the shop front could be made to look a little more inviting. This place is definately for the rich and famous. When I get my home for life I will be back to purchase one item a month, saving up enough to buy the chest of draws, tables and desks. I will I will.

As well as small electrical items they sell showers, alarms, lights & various wires & cables of any description. The staff are very knowledgeable & offer good advice. Outside they have some cheapy metal frames but inside they have two floors of with a good range of beds and a few wardrobes and chests of drawers. Prices start at £59 for basic single frames and mattresses. Double frames start at £89. If you like your gadgets or your mobility needs a bit of assistnace then have a play on their split electric beds which go from fully reclined to a sitting position. You will need help standing when you see the price tag. Outside the shop they advertise "Any size divans made to order". This must be someting to do with Liverpool having been the city of culture. A quick look on wikipedia revealed that a Divan (from the Greek word divani) is a piece of couch like sitting furniture. "Originally, in the Middle East (especially the Ottoman Empire), a divan was a long seat formed of a mattress laid against the side of the room, upon the floor, or upon a raised structure or frame, with cushions to lean against." So keep your eye out for divans - I didn't see any on my last visit.
