What a cute place! Me and the boyfriend went for our Valentine's Day trip. It was raining pretty bad that day and we were the only people inside. Cheyenne was so helpful and attentive and gave us space to work. The music was amazing and it was so relaxing to sit by the window listening to the rainfall and paint quietly together. we had an amazing time. I got a call only 4 days later letting me know our pieces were ready to pick up! I'm so excited to go get them. I highly recommend. read more

Been here at least 6-7 times over the years. Many great memories and items we will keep forever! We typically do a pottery project and over the years have made coasters, bedside table trays, serving platters, etc. Our children and grandchildren have painted various figurines and keepsakes. My husband and I sincera we moved to North Carolina we have been looking for places to have fun. We both like pottery a lot. Recently my dad passed away and I have been so depressed so he found us a place where I can go and distract myself. Since you enter the store you can feel this vibe of creativity and calmness. They have from pottery paint to canvas. They also have summer camps for the kids or after school activities. Distractions offers drop-in bisque (ceramics) painting. As of Dec. '24, pieces range in price from $16 - $115 and are kiln-fired with a nontoxic food-grade glaze for an amazing, safe final product. The studio also hosts on-site functions (reservation and reasonable deposit is required). With a helpful staff that went the extra mile, (shout out to Cheyenne) Distractions met our needs for a recent baby shower hosted on-site. We were favorably impressed with the space, variety of ceramic pieces, staff, and the final products. Everyone had a great time! read more

Love, love, LOVE! What a great time! First off, the staff is so nice and engaging. I really felt comfortable there and it made the entire experience that much better. Their selection was incredible; I couldn't even get it all in a picture. They had practical things to paint and also many fun things that are just pretty to look at (like my Slytherin Fox!) Canvas, metal, wood, mosaics...you name it! We really liked how there wasn't a time limit (thank goodness because we painted and talked and had a great time for a little over 3 hours) and didn't limit you to a certain number of colors either. What was really great was that the staff was also very helpful in several ways. I needed some help with the eyes of my fox and the staff traced them out for me and gave me tips and tricks on how to make the eyes look perfect! I was about to leave him without eyes because I'm not the best at painting and what not; that was really cool of them. This is an experience and a great one at that. We will be back this weekend as a matter of fact! Must go! read more

Lots of fun. Reasonable rates for what it is. Owner gives female kids a discount and not male children. Really sexist, but her place, her rules. No use in fighting that level of ignorance and arrogance over pottery painting. PS- like I stated, your place, your rules. Gender discrimination is never good but, as you stated, women had to wait for the right to vote, so now female children get a discount. I have a daughter, so it benefits me because I'm the person paying. I just think it is a bit crappy. That said, your place, your rules. read more

My daughter, best friend, and I had an amazing first time here yesterday. There are a ton of different mediums from which to choose. The template for the canvas I painted made it almost foolproof but even if you have mess-ups, the staff is unbelievably helpful. Sarah made sure to keep checking to see if we needed anything but wasn't "in your face." The sitting fee is very reasonable given you are allowed as much time as you need to finish a project. I found the whole experience so enjoyable and relaxing that I think this may have become my new obsession. read more

Meh. It was an okay experience. Honestly seemed like the knock off version of a Mad Platter studio.

I stopped by to paint pottery a couple weeks ago and was surprised to find so many other options besides ceramics! They also had wood to paint, canvasses, wine glasses, and mosaics. I ended up painting a wine glass and next time I'm in the area, I definitely want to stop by and do another project. The owner is super sweet and memorized our names when we were there. There are super cute events there all the time, and the owner is always buying new ceramics so you aren't stuck with the same choices every time. Also her taste in music is 10/10 and the studio is so cute inside. Definitely stop by! It's so nice there! read more
