He mastered them for streaming services, and although he got them very loud in level, he managed to not brick wall them, which was nice. I've also seen Ben work a few times with recording sessions. He has a great ear and can offer great artistic input, as well. He even asked if we wanted him to shut-up and just record and mix, which is a good trait if you bring in your own project producer who's calling the shots. I would definitely recommend and I am planning on having Conrad Master the second EP, whenever it gets finished! These guys do rock and metal the right way! I booked a 3 hour session in their rehearsal space with a 5-piece band from 6-9 pm on a weekday. The good: CHEAP. $65 for three hours worked out to $13 per person. You can't beat that, CONVENIENT LOCATION. I live in Bethesda and love going to 7Drum City but it's too much of a hassle to get there on a weeknight. This place is one of the few rehearsal spaces out here in the burbs. The not-so-good: EQUIPMENT. The guitar and bass amps and mic were quite good. The keyboard was a joke, a cheapo gadget and not the full 88. The drum kit was in a sound booth, which made it a bit awkward, and had a cracked cymbal and some other issues. THE EXPERIENCE. This was the thing that kind of turned us off the place. We didn't realize that there is no staff on site after regular business hours. We took the elevator down to the basement level and came to a long deserted hallway of locked doors. We called the number and found out that we needed an entry code, which they gave us. We got in and had to figure out for ourselves which was the practice room. The keyboard was hard to find. We needed over-the-phone guidance. And we were under surveillance the whole time. It is probably a totally different vibe during business hours but this was just not comfortable or conducive to getting into a music mood. It was a basement with no people, no windows, no bathroom, and just felt really creepy and weird.

I have a passion for attending live shows and thought this would be an interesting way to further that passion. As a middle-aged woman I was in the minority! Often folks thought I was some student's mother! Every teacher, every employee of Omega treated me with the greatest respect, encouraged me and supported me at every turn. I'm sorry others had a bad experience with Pete, the owner, but I found him to be gracious, and extremely knowledgable in his field. Perhaps you are the kind of person who can learn from the internet, or from experience on your own. I wasn't and a large number of fellow students seem to be the same. The students who succeed are the ones who set aside life's fun and games for a while and devoted themselves to study and practice. If you finish (and really who needs a graduation - never been to one in my life and I have a master's degree) and don't get a job in the field that's on you. Robert provides many opportunities for entry level positions. Yes, and even with your much more expensive 4 year degree you may start working at an entry level position. Please consider that unhappy people are the ones who write reviews. Satisfied folks aren't motivated! And why are all the positive reviews in the "not recommended" part of Yelp? I am now in my 3rd year of retired life, touring the country with a blues/rock band and thankful for my decision to attend Omega.

I was back here again to see a show by local artist, Eli Lev. This event was his Past Lives Album Release Show, and he came stacked as a stringed trio (Eli -guitar; Jeff - upright bassist, and Bailey - cellist). They took the performance to a whole other level. Can we do a rewind? I would LOVE to experience that show live again. I can't wait for his new album to be released. I knew where to go as this was my second visit here. I last visited in 2019 and had fun back then. Once parked, it wasn't hard to find the place as signage is on the outside of the building (Blue House Productions). The staff inside was super cool, and so were the attendees. Eli Lev brought the house down, once again, and even live streamed his performance. You should check it out. Described as good vibes and great music - I had an amazing time.

My name is Cleber Rodrigues and I've been looking for someone to help me on how to set up a recording studio and learn about the whole business of recording. I did not anything about it. I've been just a musician my whole life. I end up getting in touch with Calin at District sound Lab for help. From the start Calin was very helpful in sharing his experience with me about all the equipment necessary and how it works. It's been a few months already since i started the whole process of learning and purchasing the equipments. He helped me to pick the right equipment for the budget that i had available. End up spending over 20k and i'm very happy with what i have going now. We also have some classes here and there where he clarifies my doubts. I can tell that i've been learning a lot since than with his help. He always try to make himself available to answer my questions over the phone if i can not afford to have a class. Also on top of everything, he has tons of top notch equipment in his studio where makes everything come together on the learning experience. After the first couple songs I had a really good feeling I would be working with these guys for an extended period of time... That feeling was correct. I've done business with the owner for over 3 years now, and I've never regretted it. District Sound Lab is incredibly professional, I can't stress this enough. I've cut vocals for Grammy award winning musicians under the meticulous eye of District Sound Lab's staff and not once has a client of mine been disappointed. District Sound Lab is a one of a kind studio in the DC area. The gear is truly pro level, the knowledge and experience are on point, and the staff and environment are super chill... Plus, it is actually affordable! Most other studios are either way too expensive, or the sound quality is sub par, or the staff are really not cool. This place really has all three.. They really got it right. To give you an idea, we used a Neumann U87 in their amazing new vocal booth through a Great River pre and into Apogee Symphony i/o converters. After some compression and very light EQ, it came out sounding incredible. Calin works really fast and was very helpful throughout. He even gave me a discount! Highly recommended. read more

I have been working with District Sound Lab for almost a year on production in Logic Pro. I highly recommend going to them if you are interested in producing or want to polish your music. I also follow their advice on producing techniques and music equipment. They also can professionally record vocals. If you don't have your own studio space or don't have the money to invest in one, you should definitely go there. The pricing is very reasonable, especially if you can put down money on blocks of time. read more

Talk about bang for your buck! District Sound lab is a high end recording studio that specializes in rap and hip hop, but can do pretty much anything else you want. I recorded my bands EP there and it came out great. The price really cant be beat. To find a studio with that type of equipment (U87, API EQ, UA Compressor)and expertise with a much lower price than comparable studios is a dream come true. Never have I come across a studio that has the level of professionalism that DSL has. This is is both in terms of the its engineer as well as the equipment that the studio has. Vintage hardware, the latest plug ins, and an incredible vocal booth. I've been very lucky to have found this place and I seriously urge anyone with any audio related aspirations to use this studio as a resource. Overall pretty awesome! The only reason I didnt give it a 5 star like the other Yelp reviewers, is that there's no metro access. Other than that, it was very well run with professional grade equipment. I started going there at the end of last year, and try to make my way once every other week - I told Cailin I'd get there more often if he built a metro station - no luck so far. read more

I will start off by saying Calin is extremely talented and precise as well. However, in working with him, I experienced several drawbacks. The prices being charged really are not comparable to the services you get for the money. Additionally, I was missing that personable feel, and I didn't feel like he really cared about my feelings and opinions. read more
