District 56 is such a great space for events! From Farmers Markets to Festivals, there is plenty of room for a big event with a large number of vendor spaces and food trucks. And, there are two parking lots making it very convenient to attend. Our most recent event was last week for Diversity Month. I loved seeing the crowds of families enjoying themselves. It's such a bonus being able to spread out and even bring dogs! Police presence made it feel organized and well-planned. A good number of food trucks meant good options (love love love seeing Cousins Maine Lobster). There was live music and a bunch of tables for sitting and eating. read more

For a city owned space, District56 is a beautiful venue. It's a blank canvas with almost unlimited possibilities. The process to rent the venue was really easy. Payment is completed at city hall. The outdoor space is also very nice. My only gripe is taking out trash at the end of the event. At CSD owned places, the trash needs to be in the trash bins but you don't have to take it to the dumpster. At District56, the party is responsible for getting the trash into the dumpsters and they are very high. read more

District 56 is the perfect venue for festivals. We recently arrived here just in time for the Illumination parade 2025. I know we came here last year but didn't stay for the parade. Uh big mistake! My wife was adamant about coming here only for the parade bc she has no patience & would want to to go home right away. We live in Elk Grove & probably could have walked here from home but I just had surgery so I wasn't going with that idea. We actually found parking nearby & trekked over to District56. There were crowds everywhere but my wife managed to find the perfect spot for viewing the parade. We had so much fun. Kids & families were cool! Busy getting freebies from the parade people! Come & enjoy! This parade lasted 47 minutes!!! It was free & well worth our time. We will return! Happy Holidays everyone!!! read more

District 56 was the location for the 2025 Mid-Autumn Festival Night Market, held from 5-8 tonight. There were at least 63 vendors, including several food trucks , including Cousins Maine Lobster truck. There was a large variety of crafts for sale, specialty and ethnic pastries, a lion dance and other entertainment throughout the evening. Church groups were also represented, sharing their outreach and services to consider. There was plenty of parking, in lots on both sides of the event, and on the street along Civic Center Drive, but there were more people, making it difficult to walk around easily. The crowd didn't seem to mind, because they were enjoying themselves. read more

This is a cool little spot. Parking was not difficult and easy walk to main facility. I came here for a local dance show and the rooms were a pretty decent size. Only small disappointing thing was that the café was blocked off and did not look open for business. Would have totally went for some snacks before the show on a Sunday! read more

I attended a phenomenal Mother's Day event and enjoyed a fabulous experience. District 56 is a superior venue for events. Spacious, modern amenities and roomy interior space for mobility devices. District 56 has so much to offer the community in Elk Grove: a beautiful public swim area, a cafe, classes of all kinds, picnic and outdoor play areas for kids, and a meandering walking path where you can view beautiful wildlife. I used to walk daily around my neighborhood, now I find it much safer and more relaxing to walk here. I can birdwatch everyday along the trail and have already spotted over twenty different kinds of birds, some I had never seen before! I really love this place. It is also fun to get food to go and to bring it here to dine. Though I am currently 49 years old, when I turn 50 I will meet the age requirement to take their classes. I am excited about this! The prices are so affordable and the facility so beautiful. I highly encourage others who live in Elk Grove to check out District 56. It is an amazing place to hold an event or just to get some peace in your day. I am so glad I stopped and became a regular here. read more

District56 is a park built around a natural preserve in the southeast side of Elk Grove, it's very close (and yet not too close) to the auto mall area for those who're not as familiar with EG. It's a nice park as they really did a great job integrating a park into the nature preserve area with a walking path/trail throughout, so that you can enjoy a nice leisurely walk as you encounter (well, you'll see them, hopefully not actually meet them) some wildlife such as birds, ducks, geese, other water fowl, and there's also fish in the pond, though I'm not sure fishing is allowed and I don't see people fishing here. The park's generally clean and well taken care of, to include the public bathrooms which are so helpful to have if you were to have a little gathering here with friends who also have kids and/or a party (that may require reserving space with the City's park and rec district). Next to the bathrooms there's also a outdoors gym/fitness section where you can do some workout exercises with the built in equipment. There's even instructions for every workout item. This fitness section is a really nice feature I think every public park could use. The nature path is quite nice with xeriscape (water saving, drought resistant) type of landscaping that's also well maintained as the shrubbery and other plant life along the side of the trail are nicely pruned and there's not much weed growing, so I think the landscapers do a good job. When my mommy friends and I bring our kids here to play, we enjoy walking this trail and this area feels safe as it's set back away from the parking lots (there's basically one main big one and another one that's further away). We appreciate like that we are able to keep an eye on our kids while walking around since the trail goes around the play sections. Also, all the kids' play areas have seating or "hills" to sit on for us adults to hang out w/each other while still be able to watch our kids play so we can keep an eye on all of them. Also the park provides shade over our heads (especially from the tarp/shades put up over the play structures) and so we can sit down as needed. There's also metal picnic tables nearby with some aluminum patio covers and those are also nearby so kids can easily come over and grab food as needed. There's also another section w/a giant gazebo over concrete picnic tables, and those are also good for when it's too hot or we want some cover from the rain in the winter time. The couple of play structures here includes this big "hill" that's manmade that kids can climb on, but you have to be careful and decide if you want your kids to play on it when it's even slightly wet as it's easy to break a bone coming down if it's damp. I heard that happened to a little one when the park first opened. The other play structures are more for littler ones, to develop their gross motor skills, there's also an in-the-ground merry-go-round and other play equipment to include a big musical xylophone thing and drums. All in all, this is a great park inside the District56 Preserve. read more

The Park at District 56 is awesome. It has a play area that is interactive, good for learning, motor skills development play equipment for 2-5 year olds. It has a larger hill and climbing structure for older kids, too. There are also hands on musical instruments that kids can play with: drums, xylophone. Lots of grass, trees, benches, gender neutral bathrooms, changing tables for baby, picnic tables. There's a pond, too with real and fake birds. Birds, squirrels and water fowl. Beautiful walking paths. Clean and well taken care of. Not sure if this park is considered part of the Preserve. read more

Spacious, clean and safe. This area has also lots of parking spaces and dogs can be brought here on leash. Each time there's a happening or gathering, district 56 delivers. I just hope the trash bins are also conveniently located and not far away or limited during certain happenings. read more

I have visited The Preserve at District 56 several times over the past few months. It's a beautiful place to take your favorite canine friends walking on a leash. Built a few years ago, the civic center grounds and facilities are impressive! There are buildings where scheduled classes are happening. There's a huge aquatic center campus. There's plenty of space surrounding these to serve as a public plaza for special events like the massive Trunk or Treat event for the community last Halloween. Out in The Preserve, there's a kids' play area with spongey rubber play surfaces so the littles don't fall on a hard surface. There's also an outdoor exercise patio for grownups to do isometric-based exercises. There are foot paths that will take you around the man-made pond, past banks of cattails and reeds,and over a foot bridge. The path goes through what was once a pistachio tree Grove. There is an kinetic art piece here with fronds that move and rotate with the breeze. There are some sitting areas facing the pond for private contemplating. There's also wifi in a covered patio/Ramada area area with toilets and a drinking fountain for humans and four-footed companions. It's all powered by a bank of solar collectors at the edge of the property, too. Some people put a lot of thought into this nice addition to the city. read more

Elk Grove is really expanding all the family activities in the area! This place was awesome! So many places or different areas to rent for a special event. It's also called the Senior Center if Elk Grove. Our friend had their baby's first birthday party in the smaller room, called the Veterans Memorial Hall. It was beautiful and very new. We had about 50 guests and it was very comfortable and spacious. There was a Quinceneara going on right next door and it was my first time seeing such an elaborate birthday party for a teenager. Looked like a wedding! No alcohol allowed on the premises. Definitely keeps the venue a lot cleaner that way in my opinion. There was a security guard and also workers who you can speak to on the weekends who can give you more info on everything. There's an aquatic center for the hot, hot months for family to enjoy too! It had a large water slide and plenty of space for a summer birthday party! BRING A WAGON TO LUG THINGS BACK AND FORTH TO/FROM YOUR CAR. (You can thank me later!) Bathrooms were also clean and well maintained. There's a water bottle refill station and water fountains by the bathrooms as well. Staff is as helpful and friendly! read more

We did our 4th Annual Toy Drive event with District 56 on Sunday Dec 4th and I must say the turn out was amazing. District 56 was able to hold 600+ people that were there. It was roomy, plenty of wall room in the hallway into the main hall. Bathrooms were clean and kitchen was free to use if you rent the entire hall. The staff were super helpful every time we need something from them. If you're looking for a place to book an event, I definitely recommend renting at District56. read more

My first time visiting this community center, thanks to Yelp Elite for heads up on FAM Filipino Food Hut. Beautiful summer day so hot Hot HOT! Nice mix of specialty vendor booths (clothing, jewelry, lotions, soaps, etc), community booths (breast cancer, animal love, etc) and of course Food! I got to come back again and hope the French yogurt and PIE booths are back. My hands were totally full carrying my Filipino box meals, Kalani Kakes and Thai Tea (I opted out of boba). My only suggestion is more shade is needed for vendors and visitors. Placing the booths under tree shade seems logical but maybe another reason why it wouldn't work? Visited for the neighborhood market and a yelp event and I was impressed. I've known about this location and have seen the outreach for events on Instagram but just haven't really checked out any events. This place has a lot of potential and likely due to covid really hasn't had too many compared to the older more seasoned areas. The new aquatic center looks amazing and definitely worth checking out and the civic center also looked spacious and a good place to hold a private event. The only issue I see is that there isn't much shade or as much seating as I would hope out here. There was a decent amount but I feel like it could use a bit more. There is quite a bit of parking on both sides which is good insight to have and the nature preserve they are building looks quite promising. Definitely worth checking out community events here just for the good number of local vendors but try visiting on a cooler day for a more comfortable experience! read more

My first time exploring this area of Elk Grove. A great central spot. Lots of paved walking trails. Not very long but we walked it a few times, criss crossing here and there. Absolutely LOVE the playground area! So much to do there, music area, a hill for climbing and rolling down, slides, swings, you name it. Give kids lots of time to explore this area. They can get some exercise, fun and sleep well later. There is an aquatic center, Senior Center, a Cafe, bathrooms and so much more. We went on a weekday so there was plenty of parking but I can see parking would be a problem on busy weekends. Parking on street is allowed. Check it out. read more

Whoever the WHITE LADY volunteer or worker was that worked with a black lady at the illumination festival yesterday was rude asf and racist. A family in front of me who was WHITE, she was all smiles and friendly to. She gave them whatever they wanted. But when it came to my children spinning the wheel and winning a prize she rolled her eyes, pouted and said you get what you get. Th civic community center is very nice. It is both spacious and functional. Local events are held here at any time of the year. They have a senior center, cafe and function rooms inside for meetings or banquets. They also a Neighborgood Market event on Thursdays and food truck events once a week. Got to experience this event last week on their Thursday Neighborgood market. The event was very nice with several vendors selling food, crafts, coffee and desserts. I saw about 40 vendors there on this evening. In addition, there was live music from 5:30-7 on the main stage as well as a cultural fashion show after that. We brought a couple of low back chairs to listen to the music and that ended up being a good idea as there is no seating to listen to the music. The venue was super clean and there was a parking lot with ample parking, so you don't have to park on the streets. read more

The fountains and trees were beautiful and it had nice new lights; however had a bad experience at the Grand Opening, where my father who is a Vietnam Veteran was not permitted into the Veterans Hall, as he was a Veteran of a Foreign War. I was curious about the aquatic park so I went with my dog one early morning Friday and was pleasantly surprised with how well maintained, clean and inviting this place was. I kept hearing about DISTRICT 56 but had not realized the aquatic park and senior center were all a part of it. Walking around I learned about burrowing owls, enjoyed the duck and geese milling about in their little lake, admired the outdoor fitness center and the various benches with dedications....as well as the paved walking areas wide enough to take seniors for a walk in their wheelchairs.
