I've been here twice. Once for an indoor party & once for an outdoor pool party. Both times were great experiences. The facility is great. Kid friendly. Very accommodating. We enjoyed ourselves here, specifically the pool areas. Would definitely consider having future parties here.

    Inflatable Fun Run!

Pat O'Brien's Community Center is exactly was the Sacramento community needed!!! We have been eying this place for quite some time since it's so close to my in-laws and the day finally arrived where we attended their grand opening! This is located near the end of Waterman Road where less traffic tends to head unless you live near that neighborhood. So bicycling with your kids on that side of the entrance is perfect. The other entrance, which is the main one, is on Vintage Park, where it offers plenty of parking spaces and even has a safe drop off zone roundabout. Near the front entrance they have two play structures. These play structures are not gated off like the aquatic center. Therefore, families may simply arrive with their kiddos to enjoy the playground! The aquatic center has two pools, one with two diving boards (one short & one tall), their "Fun Run" which is their inflatable water course, and a closed off area for kids and adults to swim in. **Children must demonstrate to a lifeguard that they can swim one lap without stopping in order to go on the Fun Run. Once they pass their swim test a wristband is then provided** On the other side of the center, I would identify this as the younger kids pool. I believe the deepest the main part of the pool goes is 3-3.5 feet with the end cap of this large kid pool just a little deeper. Plenty of lifeguards everywhere who were fully vigilant, giving us parents a peace of mind. A shaded area for people to sit and lay on the lounge chairs. Lastly, they have a spray park too! This is also where their showers are located to clean all that chlorine off. Life jackets are provided by the center and easily accessible to swimmers near their snack bar. I'm not sure on the pricing of their food because we got it for free since we came on their grand opening day! If you haven't heard of this place, don't waste anymore time and go check it out! The whole family will have a blast!

Summer camp during a pandemic. No masks for the kids.

Wonderful little community pool! Lots of lifeguards, a small snack bar and plenty of shaded seating. Our go- to spot in the summer!

It's perfect for families with little ones. The kid pool is huge enough for the little ones to roam and play.

Why dont they have water aerobics classes? I'd love it for Vineyard area instead of having to drive to Wackford for them. Year round too!

Can I bring I. A small lunch box with bottle water?

Hi. Yes you can. I brought a tote bag filled with lunch food and snacks for my kids. They also sell snacks (very expensive though!)

Uh big mistake! My wife was adamant about coming here only for the parade bc she has no patience & would want to to go home right away. We live in Elk Grove & probably could have walked here from home but I just had surgery so I wasn't going with that idea. We actually found parking nearby & trekked over to District56. There were crowds everywhere but my wife managed to find the perfect spot for viewing the parade. We had so much fun. Kids & families were cool! Busy getting freebies from the parade people! Come & enjoy! This parade lasted 47 minutes!!! It was free & well worth our time. We will return! Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Although not in the best part of town, I feel it's actually quite safe here and it's very well maintained. It's very clean, the bathrooms in particular were really much cleaner than private sports clubs and gyms I've been to and although the hours are more limited, 8a-8p M-F and Sat 8a-12n, there's also a gym studio with pretty decent equipment (with a very reasonable membership fee). There are afterschool programs for kids here M-F 3-6p and some adults and teens drop in open hours type of sports offerings as well. The multi-purpose room (i.e. gymnasium) is huge and can turn into a full court for basket or a couple of volleyball courts. There's also a computer lab with open hours for public use, and there are 2 full basketball courts outdoors in addition to some grassy fields (not very big though), and of course the swimming pools which are open only for the summer season. Overall, Samuel & Bonnie Pannell Community Center remains a vital part of the community in Meadowview/South Sacramento area and provides quite a lot of free and paid facilities and recreation and sports programs for all ages.

The location is central to the neighborhood and pretty walkable for those living nearby. There's a large and general clean parking lot, and the building itself is well-kept. Inside, there are several activity rooms or classrooms, 1 bigger auditorium/multi-purpose room/basketball courts gym, common areas where books & board/card games, table with seating, and lounging chairs are also available throughout. Outside there are grassy fields for sports, a very large lap swimming pool and a kid's pool with some water features to include water pipes that would shoot or dump water down and water slides for kids. All in all, this is a good community center. I think the outdoors facilities could use some update, but generally, the grounds outside and the building itself have both been kept in good condition for the most part.

The ballroom has large windows overlooking the Aquatics Complex, which gives the space a bright, open feel. The private dressing room was included in the rental, and it was a huge plus. It was perfect for storing personal items and stepping away when needed. The room included its own sink, mini fridge, clothing rack, shelves, a table with four chairs, and a small sofa. The center provides a sound system with a microphone and TVs for presentations. The restrooms were clean, and parking was plentiful, shared with the Aquatics Complex. Big shout out to the onsite staff who made the day run smoothly. They were excellent! Brian, Maria, and Amy were helpful, professional, and friendly! However, there are some real downsides: Renting the kitchen, patio, or grass area costs extra, which feels excessive--especially the kitchen, which should really be included with a ballroom rental. Communication was the biggest issue. Bernal handled most of the rental coordination and was extremely difficult to reach & there wasn't a backup coordinator to communicate with. Emails were not answered in a timely manner, phone calls went straight to a messaging system and you cannot leave a message. We repeatedly had to drive to the center in person just to find someone to talk to. When we finally reached Bernal's supervisor, she apologized and explained there were staffing limitations at the time. Regardless, renters should not experience delays in communication. Better coverage and responsiveness are needed. Overall, great facility and great onsite staff, but communication needs improvement. With better responsiveness, this would easily be a 5-star venue.

"The facility features a main ballroom, warming kitchen, and a private dressing room. Large windows overlook the North Natomas Aquatics Complex." Among the youth and community programs and events put on by the city of Sacramento, I checked out activities offered at NNCC and found an Adult Zumba Fit class. Check here for a list of all activities happening/offered at NNCC: https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/cityofsacparksandrec/activity/search?onlineSiteId=0&activity_select_param=2&center_ids=259&viewMode=list Tequila Miller "Coach T" is the Zumba instructor, usually on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM for an hour. She's been teaching there since January 2024 and also teaches at Curves, Zumba Gold (seniors and older adults) at the South Natomas Community Center, and Zumbini (for 0-3-year-olds and their caregivers). For March, it cost $30 from March 5, 2024, to March 26, 2024, each Tuesday from 7 pm to 7:50 pm which was a great deal! For April, it's single classes instead for $10 each on April 9th, 23rd, and 30th, which is still a cheaper option compared to other places in the area such as Step 1 Dance & Fitness which is $15 for each drop-in class. Come and join us! The class is fun, not difficult at all to follow/pick up the repetitive choreography, and the playlist has a nice mix of songs: Cupid Shuffle, Blame It On The Boogie (Jackson 5), Proud Mary (Tina Turner), What A Feeling (Flashdance), The Cookout, The Wobble, and some other Latin-inspired ones too. Small class size but a huge space to dance around in, a good sound system, and the windows can act as mirrors if you're looking for that dance studio feel. Restrooms clean, water fountain if you forgot to bring your own bottle, onsite security guy for the evening too by the entrance. Plenty of parking as it's shared with the Aquatic Complex and they usually still have things going on there at the pool nearest to the Community Center during that hour.
