They are very rude to their customer, treat people like they are idiots, they do care what you want, only what they want to sell you and the are a very dangerous place to get your scuba certifications. All dive organizations pride themselves in making sure that your local dive shop teaches verbatim what their standards are. This shop takes dive teachings from different organizations and makes their own to teach their students. G.U.E and P.A.D.I. should not be combined!!! They are going to get someone killed!!! I cannot say enough good about this place. I stopped by this place after moving from Florida. I was nervous about what it was going to take to get additional certifications for Alaska waters. Have no fear, Alex is there! Alex walked me through all the certifications and all the steps to diving. He reassured me of the changes from a wet suit to a dry suit and all the add-ons that would come with that. He went through prices and told me about the discounts I could earn if I was to bundle certifications together. Let's begin with what I absolutely expect from any dive charter I sign up with: Safety, Reasonably Nice Rental Gear, and a Nice Experience (to the extent the charter has control). Dive Alaska earned 5 stars in each of these categories. Dive Alaska followed all of the standard "best practices" accepted when diving as well as the Coast Guard's requirements. They have also clearly thought out how to dive safely in the unique experience they provide. I did a full gear rental and found their equipment to be a bit older, but well maintained and working flawlessly. When I picked up the gear, they had me check out everything and double checked me to assure I had the right size and all the equipment I would need. Obviously there are elements a charter cannot control, but my expectation is to have an excellent experience to the extent they can control. Dive Alaska met that expectation. The boat had plenty of room to gear up and maneuver, it was clean, and had a heated cabin for my wife who is not a diver. The crew was helpful, friendly, and thorough. Now, why go diving in Alaska? Because it was unlike any ecosystem I have been on before. I've been on many wrecks and a several Caribbean reefs but what I saw under the seas of Alaska was entirely new. I hope to visit this great state again, and when I do, I'll definitely return to Dive Alaska to "get wet" with. read more

Bad @ss. I live in a remote place in Alaska that does not have a scuba shop. I did my advanced book work online but had not done my dives. I'm a bit stubborn, a perfectionist, and get mad easily when I don't get a skill immediately. The 1st dive not so great. Overweighted but hey we're figuring things out. Dropped a little to much because someone listened to the stubborn student. Made more adjustments and I was swimming like a fish. These instructors were extremely patient and diligent and they also make me angry because of how easy they make diving look. Scott did an amazing job organizing everything and I would recommend them to anyone hands down. Plus their BBQ skills are on point :) read more
