I've always heard great things about this shop, so when I finally made the decision to get certified, I knew exactly where to go. The knowledge of the staff and the passion they have for diving is apparent in everything they do. I have learned SO much and felt so confident in my ability to dive by the end of the class that getting in the ocean and applying my skills was no problem at all. They take the time to help you get fitted to the gear that you need for class and any other items you may need. John is the shop owner and he has always been so nice every time I've been in the shop. Brant was the primary person giving lectures and teaching the skills in our class, he is in the process of becoming an instructor and he was so friendly and knowledgeable. Don was observing Brant during our classes to help him get his instructor certification; Don took us on our checkout dive in the Keys as well and you can tell that he is so passionate about his career in diving and instructing. He kept everything fun and explained things in a way that was understandable and made sure that any questions we had were answered without making anyone feel silly for asking. We've also gotten help from Christina, Hector, Tyler, and Ryan(and a few others) but I seriously cannot say enough good things about these people! They have given us skills and knowledge that we will use throughout our whole dive career and I can't wait to continue learning from them!

We explained what we needed and we also asked about certain equipment that other dive shops recommended. After explaining to us some things about the difference in manufactures, we asked if he could recommend some good and reliable equipment. He did just that and he explained a lot of the difference. And showed us what we needed and what would work best for us. And the other thing that stood out was the cost of each item he showed us. It was much less than several other dive shops we visited, AND I MEAN HALF OR MORE THAN HALF, than the other shops. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AT LEAST PATRONIZE HOS SHOP before you decide to buy anywhere else. I promise that you won't be disappointed. He is a very nice man and I'm sure you will find this to be true.

Our first stop was near a sanctuary site in King's Bay that was absolutely packed with manatees that we could not see in the murky waters. It was an incredibly "up close and personal" experience--you literally could not see the manatees until they were right next to you. The location was the Three Sisters Springs. Here, the water clarity was phenomenal. We were able to see the manatees in their entirety--huge, graceful forms gliding, rolling and swimming past us. I would highly recommend this tour operator if you are looking for a great manatee adventure.

The shop has a friendly vibe, you can tell they genuinely love diving and teaching. Matt and Jason were my instructors, and they were both informative, patient, and safety focused without making anything feel intimidating. They took time to explain the "whys" behind everything, not just the steps, which helped a lot with confidence and understanding. They were also very cautious in a good way always giving helpful corrections, and making sure everyone felt comfortable before moving on. Training days were a lot of fun, not as stressful as I imagined . Our dives at KP hole at Rainbow River State Park and Devil's Den were well organized and ran very smoothly. They balanced learning with fun. If you like supporting local businesses and want instructors who are knowledgeable, safety focused and that still make the experience enjoyable I'd recommend Gulf Coast Divers.
