Went to Divine CNA for my certification. They help you through the whole process of applying for your license as well as being able to take the state skills exam there. Instructor's Jaz and Anna-Linda were amazing. I passed both the skills and written on the first try. Great experience and I really felt that the whole team wants you to succeed. They know what they're doing here for sure! My only complaint was not knowing in advance (like when I signed up) that the clinical days were 2-10pm (**I was on the evening schedule, this won't be true if you take the morning or weekend course, but you might have different hours all the same for clinicals). This knowledge would've been nice to give to my employer but we worked it out!! read more

I am a CNA and all I can say about going to classes for that that type of job is you cannot teach someome empathy. You cannot teach someone to feel for a specific client. You cannot teach common sense. You cannot teach someone basic skills that are required to be a caregiver. These skills are not taught in school. Period. read more

It saddens me to see all the bad reviews of this place, because when i did my training here, it was fun and great! I suppose management changed, but I did my training back in 2012, decided to check out the yelp link, to show my appreciation for this place. I guess, it sorta doesn't matter anymore since I did it so long ago, but it here goes.. My training was 3 weeks long, we sat in a small class room with about 10 or so students. We had daily tests and it was great. Nothing too bad, the last week our class was split up into 2 different clinical groups. I can't remember exactly what my facility was called, but it was a nursing home off exit 152. It was a horrible place, I think a lot of the people who were with me at that site were scared of becoming a CNA, and didn't even bother taking their boards exam. Anyway, I believe they taught me everything I needed to know to pass my exams.. I passed the State exam on my first try, and felt great about it. I finished my class in August, and took my test in December, I was in school while studying for this exam that's why it took me a few months to take it, but i aced it my first try! I think a lot of nursing classes are disorganized, just because it's a struggle finding clinical sites and such. Divine has a facebook you can follow as well, which gives you a list of job opportunities. Again, i took this class in 2012, so i'm not sure how things are nowadays, but back when i took it, it was great. I've had plenty of friends of took their CNA elsewhere and never passed their state exams, at least from my perspective, even though it was a bit disorganized, the teachers were able to help you understand the material you needed to pass the most important exam for your license. I am surprised that they are getting students through without teaching much skills!! Their graduates are coming to the facilities extremely incompetent. Seems like this place is collecting money and just graduating students in short amount of time. Majority of the student that have come from this school to us have no clue about care giving. Their attitude and skills are just not of a care giver and facilities have you teach them everything!!! I am extremely disappointed at this school!!!!! I think this school is money & number driven. Just seems like they have zero interest in students, their skills and their over all success. If there was -0 option, I would give them that! I was in weekdays 8am-2.30pm class in August 2019. Our teacher was Ms.Jackky and little help with Ms. Kathleen. I'm so glad I took the class here. Ms.Jackky is very good at teaching skills and lecture. You will have homework everyday and quizzes related to the state exam, if you attend the class and practice what she taught, you will do fine on the state exam. The clinical was 5 days from 5am-2pm you will have to pick the nursing home for the clinical practice out from 2 places, the one I picked was Stafford in Des Moines. It wasn't easy, I never seen that much poop in my life. we have to complete the skills that you got before starting the clinical. Everyday I cleaned & fed the residents. I mean everything that CNA does for the job. Overall I love the school, teachers , and all the nice staff. Ms.Beth also real sweet after we done with school she still emailed us jobs opportunities that we can apply thru her. I finished my CNA training last month and this school is just the best. My teacher Sandy made everything easy to understand and was always willing to take extra time to show us things we weren't clear on or if somebody missed a class. I also got to finance my classes in-house so that made it affordable from the beginning right on through. Can't speak for how the competition does but they can't beat Divine. I can tell you I loved this school, my classmates and my teacher. Simply the best. read more

I would advise anyone wanting to become a CNA, to LOOK ELSEWHERE. Head to your local Community College and get it that way. Totally worth the wait to get better instruction, equipment and be better prepared. This place is a joke. Repeatedly people would pay for the class and then consequently be "FAILED" because they didn't know or speak enough English (We know this happened to three students in 2 different classes). IF the inability to speak fluent English is an issue they should let the potential student in advance. Clearly they know the person can not speak English well enough for their purposes at sign up. It seems to me to be a money grab. The weekend class was released early often because the instructor wanted to go home. This is great but by my calculations we are in fact roughly 13 hours short of the actual time needed to get our certificates. We never completed the HIV training but we all got our certificates. We were told Fala (the admin assistant) was supposed to bring the videos to the clinical site, but she never did. This is the same admin assistant that fails to answer the phone or be onsite at a prearranged time. Is she somebody's relative? If this were a real job she'd be looking for a new one. Really disorganized. We called in advance to find out what time we could pick up our certificates. We were told they would be there (in writing) from Noon to 3pm. We arrived and there was not only a note on the door saying they were out until 1:30 but there was another woman from our class waiting and had been waiting more than 30 minutes already. She had also confirmed ahead of time that Fala would be in the office. Where is this woman? Yet another woman (student) rolled up to pick up her certificate as well and her story was even more disturbing. She had tried to come pick up her certificate on three separate occasions (and had called every time in advance, told when to arrive) and they were never there when they said they would be. They are pretty quick to tke your money but after that.. GOOD LUCK. DISORGANIZED BEYOND COMPREHENSION. The new CNA skills pamphlet came out in March of 2014 we were in a fall class in 2014, we were not only given the old book but then told "Oh there is a new book we will e-mail it to you." I won't hold my breath. They never answer the damned phone, the message machine is continually full and you'd be lucky to get a return call anyway. E-mail seems to be the best way to get in touch with them. Just the information you are given is never correct. Unprofessional. Our instructor Noreena badmouthed the director of nursing to all the students. Totally inappropriate. Our instructor constantly belittled, yelled at and was rude to students, then excused her obnoxious, inappropriate behavior by saying she is a diabetic. What utter BS, she has a bad temper and should not be working with the public. INEXCUSABLE. Perhaps she should be stuffing band aids into boxes someplace. This same instructor apologized to the students that were partnered with the only male student in our class. Wow. Not only humiliating the student but a jackass move on her part. What was she apologizing for exactly? The evening class was told that they really didn't warrant a clinical site because it isn't worth the instructors time to come out and keep track of the students all day if there are only five of them. WHAT? What did these people just pay $600 bucks for?? I will say after hearing about the evening class I think they hit the lotto as far as instructors, apparently they actually did their job and were not nasty to the students while doing it. SCORE! All skills were only gone over one time. How are we supposed to know the material well enough to pass with only doing each of the 22 skills one time? I know someone who went to another school in Tacoma and they had a really high first time pass rate with the state. However our Divine CNA instructor made mention that it is not uncommon for students to fail the first time. WHAT? Apparently our instructor was supposed to be teaching to some new plan but decided the old plan was what she wanted to do. Of course! Then the instructor made mention that Divine had been on the verge of being shut down because of all the problems they've had, the new director and the new plan were the only reason they were allowed to continue as a business. I'm a pre-nursing student at Bellevue College. A fellow student referred Divine to me. I was very interested particularly because the low price. Bellevue College offers the training, but it was WAY out of my price range. I took the training over the summer, we had Fridays off. My instructor's name was Jacque, who was the tiniest and nicest person ever. She began her career as a Nurses Aide and later became a Registered Nurse. In my opinion, she was very informative and prepared us for the real world. I was at the top of my class. She made learning fun and interesting. She gave us her tips and tricks to being a successful Nursing Assistant. She was always sharing stories from her past, which aided in my learning. I got to know her on a personal level. She was just awesome! Because of her teaching, I was confident during clinicals. Everyone was sad on the last day because we all became a little family. read more

I had a great experience at this school, and would recommend this course to anyone looking to become a CNA. I have a pretty full schedule with work and school, so I really appreciated all the available class times to choose from. The evening-weekend instructor John is great! He is very knowledgeable and makes the class enjoyable. Front staff was always very friendly and the open lab on Fridays for practicing skills was great. I do disagree with previous poster reviews that say the office is never open, because every time I went to practice, someone was always in the office---and i practiced for the few weeks after finishing class to prepare for the state examination, (thank you Beth and Fala for always letting me in to practice). I will say that email was the best way to communicate. I always received a prompt response to questions via email. I felt that the training I received here helped me to successfully PASS my state exam on the first try! read more

I think that the negatives are from a while back, so I'll assume that management or teachers have changed. I just needed this for nursing school because I didn't want to spend a whole semester and 14 credits getting what I did in 3 weeks for much less. I was pretty apprehensive but was pleasantly surprised to find out that pretty much everyone else was in the same boat and became like a little family. We had Jacqui and she was very sweet. The written part of the exam is so basic. It's pretty hard not to pass that, but the skills are tricky so make sure you study those. I'm not sure that I could save anyone with my short CPR training but that's pretty standard. I'd recommend it to anyone. I passed my state test on the 1st try. read more

My daughter took the CNA course about a month ago & really enjoyed it. She just graduated high school this past June & wants to go into nursing so this step seemed appropriate for her. She came home every night with more knowledge than the day before, said that the instructor was very helpful & friendly & she felt adequately prepared for her clinical time. I've never been able to get any helpful information from the office and one staff member will give different answers than another. Getting my clinical hours at my job signed off on by Divine and obtaining a simple certificate of completion for the program both took literal months of back and forth with the school. Emails and calls are not consistently responded to and the communication is short and unprofessional. Information is unclear or unavailable and depends who you ask. My experience with Penny and another man in the office was bizarrely cold and unpleasant and they laughed at me when I asked a question (I asked why I was being asked to fill out an enrollment exam after already completing the program). The school is geared around getting students through the classes but is entirely unhelpful with any of the following steps leading to CNA certification. I had a pretty bad experience at this school. I had two instructors, Kathleen and Penny. Kathleen was a sweet lady and really wanted to help you whenever you needed it. She tends to talk alot about her life but she was nice. Penny on the other hand was unprofessional, loud, rude, and overall the worse instructor I've ever had, by far. She would answer her phone during class, scream at you if you made a mistake, and made my experience with this school horrible. I paid to learn and when you learn, you make mistakes to learn from it. An instructor is suppose to criticize but not SCREAM AT PEOPLE. I don't care if she had a bad day, it's not the student's problem. I've never had an instructor yell at me that way. Totally uncalled for. Clinicals were fun. I learned alot following real CNA's and I loved getting to know the residents. Make sure you get your two step TB test in advance and make copies of your results. The office can be unorganized at times so it's good to keep copies on you. The staff in the office are very very nice but I think they have way too much on their plate and I think the owner of this school should help them be more organized. I wish I had a better experience with this place, I'm a college student and work part time so I don't have alot of money. I feel as if I wasted my money here. My state exam is coming up and I should feel more confident than this. I was taught different things from different instructors and each of them would say their way was correct. I just finished the 3-week evening CNA Course in Federal Way, during the same time period as one other reviewer. I did find it to be pretty disorganized, and really unprofessional in the matter of answering phones and being there when they said they'd be there. I was the one who spoke to the other reviewer and the student who came to pick up certificates, and we all had called ahead and been assured someone would be there, but ended up standing in the parking lot for half an hour with our kids waiting for them to turn up. That said, I didn't experience the incompetence issues other reviewers have reported. My teachers, Connie and Nancy, knew their stuff and made sure we did too. We met for the full class time every night, took CPR and AIDS courses during class when we were supposed to, and were tested regularly in class. Those who did not speak enough English to understand the material did not go to clinicals. Our teachers were very nice ladies; courteous to us and to the staff at clinicals. Our clinicals were scheduled from the very first day, our background checks were processed by the third day of class, and TB testing was available onsite (though I don't recommend doing it there: the nurse failed to show up to read the tests on more than one occasion, setting some students back and putting their clinical participation in jeopardy). The practice equipment was a bit worn and broken-down, but we were a small class (6) and so we got to go over the skills numerous times every night, though with little instructor oversight. When I had trouble with blood pressures, Kathy (the director) sat down with me and helped me figure out the problem. She was right on, too. I just took the State Boards and passed both the written and the skills evaluation on the first try, though I did find out AT STATE that we had been trained to do one skill completely wrong. After reading the other reviews, my advice is TAKE CLASSES WITH CONNIE OR NANCY, and don't expect professional communications. read more

I took the CNA course at the federal way location last summer. Pretty unorganized. I think we went through three different instructors and they didn't even have enough of the books until the second week. Not cool. Also, they never answer their freaking phone and they don't return voicemails. I've been trying to get ahold of the lady who does the billing because I need a student verification form filled out, and she's only there between 12 and 4 and when I call ahead to make sure she's there (it's a 45 minute drive) she always seems to be out and they aren't sure if she's returning. I graduated from Divine CNA Training almost 2 years ago. They have changed my life for the better! I have used my training and experience from Divine and now I am a Community Instructor, Adult Family Home owner and a better caregiver because of them and their training. I went to the Northgate location for training. My experience was absolutely horrible. First of all, the building is run down and the equipment is old and scarce. I honestly don't even know how they're accredited. Jacque was extremely unprofessional. Initially she told us that she didn't have our dates for clinicals, and then told us we "should be grateful" when we finally got our dates...isn't that what we're paying for?? She also asked me for a ride to clinicals, saying that she didn't have a way to get there and if she wasn't there clinicals wouldn't happen in the first place. It was the most unprofessional experience I've ever had. It's also true that she is boarder line deaf and that caused a lot of problems and awkward situations. I've taken the state exam, even though I knew the skills cover to cover, I failed the skills portion. Because Divine CNA's equipment is scarce, we did a lot of pretending, which did not serve me well AT ALL during the state exam. I would definitely recommend doing your CNA training at the community college (or at a location that actually has all the equipment), that way you can be in the same environment that you'll be taking the test. She was very helpful, and was even willing to go out of her way/ time to help students and insure that every student would succeed. You'll end your training well prepared to be a CNA! I attended Divine CNA Training in the summer of 2013. My instructor Maggie, was wonderful and accommodating. She made sure everyone understood the skills and never treated anyone disrespectfully. Unfortunately Maggie is no longer an instructor at Divine and I think the entire program has gone completely downhill because of it. Today, I went in with a friend to practice for the state test with another one of Maggie's previous students, and we were treated horribly by a current instructor named Penny. I had never met Penny before this day in my entire life, and had never spoken two words to her. As Penny is walking around attempting to get clinicals ironed out for her current students, she is disrespecting the company and saying that she is, "so glad she will be leaving soon." Penny was also dressed like she just rolled out of bed and showed up because she had no choice. She was exceptionally rude to two of her students, who were there to take mock skills tests. One of her students preparing to take their mock skills exam had to ask us how to do a step on a certain skill because she was never properly taught. We explained how Maggie taught us. When the student was taking her mock skills, Penny very rudely told her she would fail because she didn't remove her gloves. The student blames us and Penny says nothing. So after the student was done, we looked in the state skills book and what Penny said was not accurate in the slightest about how to properly perform the skill. We of course don't say anything out of respect but only tried to tell the student, that what she told Penny about how we were told to do the skill, was wrong. I tried explaining to Penny how we were taught, not rudely at all, and was treated with the most disrespect I've ever experienced in my life. She said your instructor is wrong, and I know who she is and she didn't teach you like that. Like I said, I had never met this woman before in my life, and she didn't even give me a chance to explain how I was taught. Not only did she disrespect me, but also Maggie. Maggie is an RN and now works at a more respectable program, there is no way that Maggie is going to be wrong. Besides that, the steps in the skill book say nothing like what Penny said to the student about how to do the skill. Betty Ireigbe, the owner, seemed like a very nice woman when I met her during my class. However, she isn't the one the students deal with on a daily basis. If I had, had Penny as my instructor, I would have demanded a refund the first day of class. If I was running a business, especially one affiliated with the medical industry, I would not run it like it is currently being run. I can understand if the building is run down, or if equipment is old, but a rude instructor is not something I will ever wrap my mind around. I very highly recommend that nobody attend this school. It's clear they only care about the money they get from you, and nothing about actually giving an education, with the exception of Maggie. I've started the process of filing a complaint with the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board, who this schools accreditation is from. read more

I am writing this review 4 months after my experience with Divine because my experience was so awful I feel that others should know. I took the three week course offered at the Northgate location in April and was very disappointed. The place was completely unprofessional and disorganized. The main issue was clinicals. Online the class was advertised April 1st-19th with specific classroom times and clinical times. Naturally I rearranged my job so that I could attend. The first day of class our instructor said that she had no arranged clinicals yet but she was not worried. Clinicals for everyone were on the understanding that our 2-step TB test's were completed and we had cleared our background checks and that they would be on a first come first serve basis. Well by the beginning of the second week (one week till clinicals) our instructor said she had left a note with the clinical place and had no heard back. She also told our class that no one's background check's had passed. Well the following day she pulled a group of student's out of the class to let them sign up- these student's had not passed background check's but had both of their TB test's read. When I learned that they signed up from another student I immediately joined the room and told her I had both of my test's done as well (I had for over a week) so she made me show her my documents then let me sign up. I was 9th. So Thursday the last day of class comes and our instructor finally breaks that bad news: no one has passed background checks and the place we normally go for clinicals could not take us, so she found another place to do clinicals but the hours had changed and only 10 people could go (14 in our class). This alone affected my work schedule but I could handle that. So her solution was that she would call everyone Friday and let us know if we had passed our background check or not. So Friday I receive a phone call from Jacque our instructor and she tells me she is "so sorry but I did not pass my background check and can not attend clinicals." So immediately I called the office and they told me that Jacque was wrong! She had been out of the office when a stack got mailed in and I had passed and could go on Monday. Well Saturday I get off work to a message from Jacque to call her for "bad news regarding clinicals." When I called her back she informed me that she had made another mistake and this other place could only take 6 students so I could not go to clinicals since I was 9th on the list. She told me maybe they could arrange something for another week or so but I needed to be on standby. This did not work for me. Not only had I already arranged my work schedule and cannot just get time off whenever I want, I had already arranged surgery to get my wisdom teeth out the following week and was leaving to Alaska for the summer the next week. I had no wiggle room. I signed up for the three week course because it fit with my schedule and those were the times and dates that worked. I called Jacque back and she continuously ignored my phone calls. So next I got the company owners phone number and she also refused to answer (she had lots of angry student since now over 1/2 of the class did not have a clinical date.) Finally Jacque called me back and refused to help, she argued on the phone and was very rude, I told her that it was unfair and that the list was never on a first come first serve basis to begin with as I was skipped and had my shots done! I was livid. By Sunday I had calmed down and realized that this was not going to work out for me so the next week I went in for a refund. The place was so unprofessional she asked me to write it out on a piece of blank paper and she would send it out. The Northgate office told me that I would hear back within two days. Two days passed and no word, so I called the following Monday. There the lady told me that it could take a month before a decision was made. I was done, I knew this place was going to cheat me out of my money or getting a refund would be hell since I was leaving. So instead I was very thankful that I am a broke student and had charged the class to my credit card. I called Capital One and claimed fraudulent charges on the company and explained what had happened. The refunded my $600 for the class within days and sent a letter to Divine. Divine never responded I got my money back case closed. I am glad I did get my money back but bummed that I wasted over two weeks on this class had a rotten experience and took time off my paying job. I would never recommend Divine CNA to anyone. The classroom was not worth $600 anyway and after that I do not trust the company. read more

Take your money somewhere else! I took a 3 week class at the Northgate location. It was completely disorganized and all they cared about was getting my money. I took off a week for clinicals from my paying job and rearranged my whole schedule for this class. By the time the 2nd week of class is over, they don't have our background checks processed and clinicals are on hold. I then get a missed phone call Sunday night prior to clinicals starting Monday with just a city and no information. So I missed clinicals Monday and have to reschedule. They can not return a phone call promptly. Maureena was rude at times over the phone when I told her I was frustrated with her lack of follow through. She was supposed to sign me up for clinicals and I rearranged my work schedule again only to call back and have her tell me she didn't sign me up and now it was full so I had to wait again! Finally she got me in at Seattle Medical 2 nights and on a weekend at Auburn Rehab. Penny was the instructor from the Federal Way location at the Auburn clinicals. She was over an hour late BOTH days and just spent her time studying for her nursing class exam in the break room. Thank goodness for the awesome CNA's at Auburn Rehab taking us on because Penny couldn't be bothered to show up on time much less teach you the skills you need to know. For a program that puts such an emphasis on being on time, they sure lack the ability to set the example. I signed up for a class in April in order to have the class done to put on my nursing school applications for May. Now in August, I finally have my certification and the application for the state exam in the mail. If it wasn't for me hounding them on the phone and in person, I would have never gotten my certificate. Spare yourself the hassle and look into other options for obtaining your certification. read more

Divine is divine! This CNA training course is excellent! Jackie who owns and runs the course, is a hands on instructor, who has been in the medical field for years. She is extremely professional and knowledgeable, yet has the unique ability to meet each student at their own level. Because of her attention to detail and expertise, you can be assured you are learning procedures the correct way for success. She is encouraging, and kind, and will guide you step by step through this course. There is always available time for practicing before or after class on your procedures. Kathleen, helps with some instruction and labs, and is wonderful. She really cares about her students, safety, and hygiene. She is honest, forthright, and an asset to the team. I also need to mention the CPR class was outstanding! With one on one time with your own mock person, the actual hands on experience was life changing for me. I beg you to go somewhere else! It will be the worst money you have ever spent. I have no idea who these people are with good reviews...they are probably friends of the school owner. If you decide to go here, you will be cramped into a building that is falling apart and you will not have air conditioning or heat. The "teaching" is them reading to you from a book. Then you pretend for the clinical classroom. Other schools give you props to work with. You won't even have gloves to use. The few props they have are falling apart. The HIV training is not 7 hours like they say it is. And you will have to retake your CPR when you get a job because theirs is not approved. They will reschedule your clinicals at the last minute so if you need childcare or have a job, you really should not go here. This place should have their license revoked! read more

This experience was not a good one, and I would not recommend this school. While the instructors ranged from good to fair, the clinical experience was poor. There were last minute cancellations, and lack of communication as to rescheduling which was disrespectful to students. The clinical experience was not well thought out, or directed. Total lack of leadership. We were not oriented to the facility, nor introduced to the staff in a way that would promote learning and team work. There were too many students in one facility, the facility CNA's were overwhelmed with us in their way. It seemed like our presence was resented by some. Divine CNA offers a great program. My training was guided from the beginning to the end. The office staff is ready to answer any questions from scheduling, the right program, financing and testing. My instructor was extremely knowledgeable. She taught more than the fundamentals of caregiving. I am now my own business owner and got valuable training, advice and insight that I still use today. Everyone is responsible for your own experience and I felt Divine was very good at handling any request needed and willing to work with me as a student. I see some of you feel the same way about Divine , they told me CPR was included but it's not the CPR card you need for this profession , and again they need us to pay an additional 55.00 for CPR card we DONT NEED , then pay more for the right one .LOL!! I am still enrolled but not returning!!! didn't teach me nothing and teacher was to quick and cramed to much in one day rather one week . book was done within a week. read more
