I'm so happy that we went with DJ Chizzau for our hometown wedding reception at Harvest Moon! Since we were having a typical Cambodian wedding (with a Cambodian band), we had Chau spin for portions of our evening. Even though the timeline I provided to him was pushed back (due to Asian time, of course) and we had last minute changes for the introductions, he was always had a positive attitude. We requested for club-type style music and Chau delivered! Prior to the event, he's very prompt with emails and following up with us. I found DJ Chizzau (Chau) on yelp and sought more reviews on other sites too. Although he didn't have many reviews they were all so positive and after contacting several DJs we decided on DJ Chau. He also provided uplights for us. He did offer a projector and screen service but we opted for more lights. We exchanged emails during the vetting process and once the wedding got closer we had more contact and were able to get a list of songs for the intro, first dance, parents dance, cake, and other activities. There was nice dinner music too. We could preview all the intros and any special songs prior to the wedding. We had a mix of ages (although more 20-30s) dancing which was what we wanted the most. DJ also made announcements although he does note he is not an Emcee. The only thing we missed was the last song, although we were running late on our time line (not his fault at all!). Chau provided both lighting and DJ services for my wedding in August at the Park Hyatt DC and I could not be more thrilled with how amazing he was throughout the planning process and the day of! He was in constant communication with us months before the day and made sure to get to the venue with hours to spare. He also accommodated us last minute with additional mic requests, lighting adjustments etc. My venue had a preferred lighting vendor but we decided to go with DJ Chizzau due to his willingness to bundle all of the lighting and DJ services together. I was initially a little worried because he had not worked at the venue before but he simply blew us away. We sent him examples of the type of lighting we wanted and when we saw the ceremony and reception ballroom on the day of, it was so tastefully done and exactly what we asked for. As for his DJ services, we used him for the entire day ,from ceremony to cocktail throughout the reception. I provided him with a playlist on Spotify of the songs I wanted to play for each part of the day - he made sure to get the EXACT versions that I wanted. For the preceremony music, I didn't know what to choose so he sent over suggestions that fit perfectly. During the ceremony, we used about 8 different songs (a lot, i know) but the transitions were SO seamless. I just recently watched our wedding video and the music made the moments so much more special. He really timed everything perfectly based on the moment and phased everything in and out so naturally that I'm so glad I utilized his services instead of a string quartet or band. At the reception, he had EVERYONE on the dance floor throughout the entire night. He played songs that were fun to dance to and weaved in a lot of our requests from friends etc. All in all, I could not have been happier with DJ Chizzau and I highly recommend him to everyone!!! read more

DJ Chizzau is nothing short of professional, very easy to work with, quick to respond, very flexible and accommodating with what you want. We used his services for our wedding in 2011. From the start, he asked me to put together a list of songs I liked and we shared a Google Doc in which I changed and altered songs on the daily up until the day prior to the wedding. I was worried I was changing it up so much but it wasn't a problem with DJ Chizzau at all! HE GOT EVERY SINGLE SONG I REQUESTED!! He was so sweet and made the process very smooth and relaxed. He bought his own awesome music equipment to our venue day of. He set it up with no issues at all and everything I requested (with time frames...) was on the dot! My husband and I are so glad that we went with Chau or DJ Chizzau for our wedding reception music. He was awesome! Chau was really good about communication. He responded promptly to our e-mails. He answered all questions thoroughly. He described his services clearly. As reviewers on wedding sites have mentioned, Chau knows to make sure that only radio edit or clean versions of songs are used. This isn't something couples always remember for their event, so it's nice that DJ Chizzau does! Before the big day, Chau asked my hubby and me to listen to our song choices in a dropbox that he had provided to make sure he had our playlist right.This attention to detail shows dedication and thoughtfulness on his end, and we're very grateful. The music of his choosing also was really appropriate and lively. We didn't select any of the dance songs post-cake cutting, leaving everything up to our deejay. He picked goodies that our guests had lots of fun dancing to. They raved to us about the music as they filed out that night, which made us really happy. We couldn't have asked for better service. DJ Chizzau delivered what he said he would, took the time to find out what our needs were, and charged reasonable prices. Chau worked my wedding and I really couldn't be any happier with the experience. As other reviewers have noted, Chau is extremely professional and easygoing. He worked with me from the beginning to really understand my vision for the wedding - a classy, relaxed cocktail hour/front of reception which transformed into an upbeat EDM end of reception. He was very proactive and brought up many things which we hadn't considered. At the wedding, he really nailed it - almost all of our guests were dancing - even my grandparents! What can I say? THE BEST DJ IN THE DMV. We used Chau ("DJ Chizzau") as the DJ for our wedding reception and it was awesome. Chau was recommended to us by a friend (also a DJ) and it was totally worth it. His prices were very affordable and he kept the dance floor full the entire night. All of our guests raved about the DJ. To quote one of them, he said, "I've never danced so hard in my life" !!! Chau asked us what type of music we wanted, we suggested a few songs (late 90s hip-hop), and that was it! Super simple. Chau even help us customize the music for our first dance, and he was great at answering questions and working with our schedule. I'm usually not much of a dancer (my wife is), but the music Chau played had me on the dance floor all night and it was so much fun. So glad he was recommended to us. I can't recommend DJ Chau highly enough. He was responsive throughout the planning process, very reasonable in his pricing, and fantastic the day of the wedding. Several of our friends and family singled him out specifically for being great at reading the energy of the room and playing great songs. One of my cousins' direct quotes: "I've never been at a wedding where I was so excited for every song that I didn't leave the dance floor for drinks or to catch up with people." Planning: Planning was a breeze. My wife and I were mostly content to let DJ Chau do his thing. Our parameters were more for general types of music to play at different portions of the evening (lounge and Motown during the cocktail portion, jazzy and lounge stuff during dinner, and top 40-ish dance favorites for the dancing portion). We were more specific about music genres we didn't like and big no-nos (don't transition out of songs after only 1-2 minutes, don't interject with your own commentary). DJ Chau was very understanding as our instructions evolved throughout the process and gave us sample playlists that we could check out in advance. Day Of: DJ Chau was very professional, well-dressed, was great at helping us stay on time, and of course, was a crowd favorite for his music selection. At one point, a family member asked to give an impromptu speech, which wasn't the kind of curveball my wife and I wanted to deal with in the middle of a reception. But DJ Chau was flexible and great about getting the microphone to the speaker and transitioning the whole portion. He was professional when helping herd guests to different portions of the room for first dance, dinner, etc. and just generally nailed the emceeing portion of things. As for the deejaying, again, I can't say enough about how many compliments we got about his music selection. Everyone had a blast and the dance floor was full the entire night.
