This year for my daughters 8th birthday , she requested a dance party! I researched possible ideas and thought it would be really cool to have a "house party" with an actual DJ! Even cooler, if I could find a local aspiring DJ to spin. I asked around locally on Benicia happenings and through friends and was was given the name of DJ KenFused, but was told that he had a young son who also DJ'd by the name DJ ProteJay. Wrecked our wedding. For our ceremony, DJ Ken did not pay attention to our recessional cue, and we were awkwardly standing there before he caught my visual look of panic in front of all our guests and began playing the song. During our reception entrance, he COMPLETELY botched it. He forgot a groomsman, mispronounced a name, assigned "matron of honor" and "maid of honor" to the wrong individuals. This is despite a clear set of instructions we emailed him AND a prep call. If that wasn't enough, he didn't play any of the music on the Spotify list we painstakingly prepared for him, until we asked our planner to inform him. DJ Kenfused recently DJed my wedding on 05.05.2018. Long story short, he was great 5 stars!!! He played all of the songs I wanted for particular moments of the night (20 or so) correctly and on cue. You can give him a list of songs that you want, or you can tell him your favorite genres and let him loose. He hyped up the crowd for our reception grand entrance. He got our guests off their butts and dancing throughout the night. He was able to MC our table games to let the guests know who can take home the table centerpieces, and he also MCed the "shoe game." The DJ is one of the most important parts of a wedding and Ken never returned my emails and became the most stressful part of my wedding planning. Don't be thrown off by the name "Kenfused", he actually knows what he's doing. =b Being a DJ myself, I knew exactly what I was looking for our wedding. We wanted someone that could rock a crowd but could also rock the mic and keep our guests engaged. But most importantly, I wanted someone that was experienced with weddings. At one point during our ceremony, the officiant's wireless mic (which the officiant provided) started giving out. Ken, cool as a cat and ninja-like snuck up to the front of the ceremony and handed the officiant one of his mics. It was loud and clear and smooth sailing after that. This was a very subtle move by Ken, but to me, I recognized it as a move that only experienced DJs would have done. You'd be surprised how many weddings I've seen where the couple's vows were hampered by mic interference and the DJ didn't do anything about it. Ken's experience was also displayed in how he was perfectly setup and early for the ceremony, cocktail room, and reception (all in different rooms). Ken's experience comes from being part of the SF Bay Area's long-standing and rich DJ culture; one that I've idolized when I first started out with my first set of turntables. Benicia, eh? Man, it took me a LONG time to find his yelp page, but finally I succeeded! Basically, Ken is awesome. Really awesome. So awesome that I'm trying to figure out events where I can hire him again to DJ. Is it too much to DJ at a baby shower? hm. Anyways, now. I'm. gonna. blow. you. away. First of all, a friend of mine got married on June 21st, 2008. It was about one year before my wedding and I was overwhelmed with who to choose as a DJ. When I asked her for any recommendations, she immediately said "You HAVE to hire DJ Ken Anolin. He is SO FUNNY. He is SO GOOD". I'll never forget that she had these huge eyes and big smile when she said this to me. I was sold right there. See, the thing is. I'm a picky person. Like, very picky perfectionist failure-is-not-an-option kind of person. And being that, it was going to be my wedding. Oh man. Had to be perfect. My wedding was Oct. 3, 2009. Anyways, from beginning to end, Ken is professional, responsible, hilarious and SO creative (with song choice). I mean, this is the kind of person you want in every type of business. My husband was instantly sold when Ken suggested to play a particular sports "theme song" for the garter toss. Its a very manly melody, but I don't want to say (because of Ken's competitors might be reading this). After Ken's suggestion, my husband calls me later and says "we HAVE to book him. He made such a great suggestion for the garter toss song". Ken answered all my emails so quickly. He answered all my neurotic questions. He reassured me that everything was going to be fine. He was so patient in waiting for my exceptionally long list of songs (hey man, my husband is even pickier with songs than I am!). He also arrived 2+ hours before the dinner reception time and finished set up quickly. I was so happy to see him planning everything ahead. He already had music playing while guests started to arrive. He followed my dinner reception itinerary, which gave the estimated time of when to announce which event. Of course, he has the laptop-to-system hookup for the slideshow music. If you need a host/emcee, look no further. Ken is a very funny and engaging emcee. You can tell that he enjoys being a DJ. Everyone had such a great time. Lets just say that the music got our guests pumped up SO much that my photographer was able to catch many upon many amusing photos of our wedding guests tearing up the dance floor. Thats how good Ken is. Where your photographer can get those "blackmail" hilarious photos because that one usually quiet groomsmen decides to freak all the ladies on the dance floor. Thanks Ken. Thats all you, man. Well, maybe a little champagne was involved too. lol. Can you believe it? A wedding vendor completely free of any stress! Believe me, during the wedding planning, Ken made things so much easier for me because he is SO responsible and professional. And you know what. I'm not even finished! Guess what? I referred him to my other friend for her wedding and she booked him too! Her wedding (June 2009) was a complicated one because it was at Villa Montalvo. If you've ever been to a wedding there, you'll soon find out the complicated nature of multiple rooms that all need music. Somehow, Ken was able to organize a network of linked multiple speakers in multiple rooms, all playing music simultaneously. And these multiple rooms have tons of stairs and other obstacles in between the ceremony's garden area, the appetizer fountain area and the dinner reception patio area. Thats really going above and beyond. Ken is a genius and it still amazes me how he was able to handle that wedding. And this friend is the type of friend who would complain if she was unhappy. During our introductions I wanted a song played from the show Fantasmic in Disneyland....which the only audio I could find was on YouTube. Not only was Ken able to play this and introduce our party, he looped and edit the song because our bridal party was so big and I wanted to come out at a certain part....he made it happen. I also had a laundry list of Latin music we wanted to play and he accepted this with open arms. He knew how to play to all age groups and get everyone on the dance floor. When it came to song choices for the bouquet toss and garter toss we didn't want the same music everyone else plays (Single Ladies - Beyonce) so Ken hooked us up with something different. This is what I enjoyed about working with him...we were able to collaborate together and he provided his expertise on what works and what does not. For the most part, anything I wanted he would make it happen. I never had to worry about Ken, by the time I got to the reception his equipment was already set up and playing for the crowd. The only thing I was disappointed about was that we couldn't make the night longer because we had so much fun dancing. Meets the ideals of professionalism on every level. We hired him for my daughters baptism and first birthday. Not only is he very kind, but approachable.
