They included a high cathedral ceiling and walls that needed plastering and baseboard heating. They exceeded my expectations in every way and especially the quality of their work and their attention for small detail. They plastered holes, covered cracks with tape and used the latest technology for water stains. They followed best practices and did not cut corners. They delivered two needed coats while others only quoted one. They fixed, patched and painted railing that I did not think could be saved. They were extremely professional. I was so impressed that I asked then to return and paint the rest of the house. These are the real pro's and were very competitively priced. We just hired him again to finish our job after the GC quit! (GC's floor guy butchered our upstairs and basically ruined our new floors) We thankfully got Sye to do our first floor... the difference is incredible! The floors looks like glass when the light hits them... so smooth to the touch! Sye had the difficult task of trying match our original floors and deal with our uneven framing from 1955. He was more run up to this task!! He has come a long way from when we first met him and has obviously focused on perfecting his trade!! Sye uses an extremely high quality sander that left our home with legitimately zero dust!! (The GC's guy required professional cleaners after he did our floors!) Sye also used very high quality stain and finishes... which can take a bit longer but are well worth the wait!! Sye was able to fit us in his schedule almost immediately (which was a huge help cause we are trying to refinance). His quoting software and brochures also simplify the process... so if you are unsure of what style or finish he can easily guide you! I must say that I was impressed with the designer with whom they work, Anna Orfanides. I told her what style I was looking for, and Anna knocked it out of the park. While it was merely a galley kitchen in a Brookline condo, Anna envisioned a design that made it much more functional, timeless, and chic. Hilary Farr would be impressed. Ryaan and team are highly detail oriented. There was one incident where there was a problem with some of the lighting materials. While some contractors would have taken a shortcut and simply have installed the lighting as is, Ryaan and his electrician Chris, who was a perfectionist, made sure that the vendor was held accountable, and they refused to install the product until the issue was resolved with the manufacturer. It should also be noted that Ryaan and team are in constant communication from the project inception until the very end. Kristina, the project manager, is unbelievably responsive. You really can get in touch with her around the clock. The workmanship is impeccable, and it's the first project I've done with a nonexistent punch list. Ryaan took care of small details before I even mentioned them. Finally, I want to add that they are just nice people. I really do think animals are the best judges of character. My dog is a Lhasa Apso, and there are some people he just doesn't like. I was worried that there would be lots of barking and growling throughout the project. However, that was not the case. My dog took a liking to the project team from the beginning. There was no barking and growling. If he can trust them, so can I. It was a wonderful experience, and they really have earned five stars. I really appreciate how much of a straight shooter he is. We went through three contractor bids before we landed on Woodworks, which was a referral from a neighbor. They were even more than I hoped for! Our original project was a full gut renovation of a guest bathroom plus some improvements to our kitchen. We ended up loving Woodworks so much that we added a custom 9' bookshelf (which came out absolutely gorgeously - we get more compliments on it than anything else in the house), a half bathroom, and a small bar area. From the first walkthrough, Gil proved he is a man of his word. For the first two projects, he quoted me a highly reasonable price for the bathroom and kitchen (right in the middle of the other bids we got, but with the added benefit of more customized kitchen cabinets than what the priciest bidder proposed). He also talked me through the whole process thoroughly, which I greatly appreciate as a first time renovator. The end result came out beautifully. Gil and his crew really hustled and transformed our space in less than two months (including all of the inspections). It was also in the middle of COVID and everyone was great about wearing masks. Unfortunately my project was delayed because I needed to move a gas meter and National Grid had a four month delay. We intended to start the project in March but National Grid couldn't come until June. So we waited and in the meantime I asked for a contract. Gil reassured me repeatedly that he would send the contract. We continued to meet to iron out project details. I told him I was concerned with the delay that my project would get lost in the shuffle once the spring build season began and he said no, we've been chatting for a while, I'll do your job. After asking for months for him to send a contract, two weeks before the National Grid appointment was scheduled mid-June, I pressed Gil for the contract and he says I didn't send the contract because I am not going to do the job. TWO WEEKS BEFORE. The kicker is he blamed me for my frustration. You never blame the client especially when you have been derelict in your responsibilities. Of course I'm frustrated. If he didn't want the job, have other projects he'd prefer to do, then have integrity and say so. Don't string someone along keeping their project as an option just in case. I trusted his word. Word to the wise, if you have to ask more than twice for a contract it's not coming, move on and save yourself some stress. His actions left me scrambling at the last minute to find someone during an incredibly busy time and made a difficult process way more difficult than it needed to be.
