Alan is a true LIFESAVER when it comes to restoring dead computers. My MacBook Air froze, the hard drive crashed and Alan to the rescue! I tried to restore it myself for 24 hours, then gave up and called Alan based on recommendations from South Etobicoke Community Group on FB which is fabulous. Within minutes of calling Alan, I was handing over my beloved Mac to him and 24 hours later, I picked up what looks like a brand new Mac. He lovingly replaced all the worn-out keys, doubled my storage and updated my operating system. And all of this over a weekend too! He let me know the exact cost of the repairs in advance and kept in touch via text. I have worked in the tech industry for decades and Alan is a true gem. I have an 8 year old Dell laptop that was giving me some trouble. A friend of mine recommended Alan from DNA Systems as he had similar issues that were successfully resolved thanks to Alan. I gave him a call and he made a house call! He diagnosed it and determined it required a trip to his shop for further inspection, he changed the hard drive, tweaked it (this is a technical term!) and upgraded my Windows license. Works great. Unlike many others who've written a review for Alan @ DNA systems, I was not contacting him for a fit or recovery of an existing laptop or computer - that said, having read the glowing reviews and in dealing personally with Alan I know that should I run into said issues, I know whom to call. My reason for connecting with Alan was to get his help in turning an old computer tower into a full on media server that I could download and store my crazy dvd and music collection on to and then access at my leisure. I had an uncle who did something similar to this once except instead of creating a media server from a computer he had someone build an entire server room in his house to store all his media. And anyone who has ever been in a server room can tell you - that gets HOT (and expensive) to set up, operate, manage and maintain. Alan took my vision and ran with it. Within a week came back to me with the plan. Clean up and optimise my existing stock HP tower and pack it with 12 TB of storage space, replace the wonky stock fan and clean up and out all the malware and virus' that had taken up residence on my CPU over the years. He then took my DVD collection and added them all digitally to the server in both regular and HD format as well as adding some extras he thought I'd like. Since my PC didn't have an HDMI port he set up a remote access point for the tower via Teamviewer and then installed a program called PLEX so I could access all my content remotely from either my laptop, iPhone, tablet! For the most part, following a few minor bugs at the beginning, the system now works beautifully AND because my TV has Chrome cast built into it I can cast m content via Wifi to my TV. I'm not one for techie things but in this instance, I'm nerding out so hard over this media system. Big thanks to Alan for making my digital dream a reality. Alan provided excellent, timely service, and answered my many questions clearly so I could make an informed decision about whether to repair or replace my old laptop. After reading many glowing reviews about DNA Systems on Liberty Village Residents Association's facebook group, when my 2009 Macbook Pro was sick, I knew that Alan and DNA Systems were my go-to. My Mac was moving at a snails place and had the Chrome spinny wheel of death when I had too many tabs open. I messaged DNA on a Saturday morning and had my computer back on Monday night. Super fast turn around time! Alan picked up my computer and dropped it off, it couldn't be any more convenient. I received pictures of the inside of my computer *trigger warning for germophobes, so gross what's lurking in your computer. I also got countless updates on things that should be fixed or replaced. For far less than a quarter of a new MacBook Pro, Alan updated my iOS, cleaned my computer, backed up my data, set me up with a new hard drive, and new battery (with warranty). On my last day of vacation my macbook decided to completely die on me. I thought I had everything backed up at home, but it failed too. The guy is flake. Sold me a router 3 months ago. Now it's not working and Alan has been giving me the run around for two weeks. Finally said he was coming last Friday, no show and no call. When I contacted him in the evening he made up an excuse, didn't even apologize for not calling, and said he'd be here on Monday, today. Received a message mid morning, he wanted to postpone to tomorrow. I waited at home the whole day on Friday and made arrangements to be free today, so I gave him the time I'd be home tomorrow. Got a msg from him saying that it doesn't work for him. No integrity at all. I believe in Karma and I hope it will strike you with a vengeance. Shame on you! I have all the messages to prove every single word I wrote on this review is true. Your calling it "bogus" shows once again your lack of integrity and shame. Alan of DNA Systems was so great to work with! On Thursday I made a post in a Facebook group about how my computer was acting up and within 20 minutes Alan and I were on the phone chatting about my options. Later that evening he came by my house to pick up my laptop for diagnostics. Within hours (and still on the same day) he had determined the root cause of my computer issues and continued to keep me posted with the progress while he was running the diagnostic. Unfortunately, my computer was fried. Alan continued to talk me through my options (he was incredibly responsive) and noted he had a used laptop (in great shape) with better specs than mine had, for sale. Even though it was a long weekend (Canada Day weekend!) he worked on the alternative laptop to get it up and running for me, within less than 24 hrs!
