From the moment she greeted me with an umbrella for the short walk to her studio I was struck by her kindness and friendliness. These qualities were paramount with it came to trusting her when at my most vulnerable. After discussing my aims and set backs we began the process. As it was my first time under hypnosis I was nervous and apprehensive, but Maxine guided me though encouraging me to trust the process. Having had no prior experience I wasn't sure what to feel or how 'under' I was going to go but during that session and subsequent sessions I felt myself go deeper and deeper into a hypnotic state. I can't say that I remember everything that happened in all of the sessions, only that when I came out of them I felt more relaxed than I ever had before and with a deep sense of calm. Almost as important as the sessions was the aftercare. Maxine contacted me between sessions to check my progress, encourage me when I needed it and congratulate me when I lost weight. It really feels like she is part of the journey and invested in my success. Whilst I can't say I am am cured of my sweet tooth (and never wanted to be - moderation was always the goal) I can say with confidence that I have a renewed willpower and a desire to fuel my body with healthy foods and fill my time with healthy (physical and mental) pursuits. We were mid-treatment when Covid-19 hit so face to face sessions were cancelled. I found myself missing our pre-session chats as much as the sessions themselves! Much like everyone else in the face of such uncertainty, I put on a few lockdown pounds but Maxine agreed to a zoom session which was honestly as good as a face to face. I was able to get into a hypnotic state quickly and easily and in the weeks that followed lost my desire to eat a family sized bar of chocolate (and then some!) a day and lost all of the weight gained in lockdown. It even galvanised me into doing the decorating that I'd been promising myself I'd do since January. Maxine's results speak for themselves but her friendliness, calming nature, lack of judgement, warmth and empathy are what make me recommend her for any issue you might want help with.

I had a relapse into a severe illness I'd had previously, and I was lucky - and, believe me, lucky is definitely the word - to find Rob. He has everything you could want from a therapist - extreme competence and ultimate trust-worthiness, which are the two most important things, and he is also very professional and highly knowledgeable. There are some people in the world who find their natural calling, and Rob is definitely one of them. He was born to do this. I was entered into the facility by my family, but I went along with it as I knew (even without wanting to accept it) that I needed help... something very hard to accept when you aren't ready but the staff prepare you for your stay and keep you on track each step of the way. Each week I was given a 'recovery task' (plus extras) to aid my recovery and this is something I look back on weekly, reminding me of the help I received and to be grateful that I am still here to tell my story. Fast forward 6 months, to April of 2019 and I have successfully completed my university degree and will be passing with honours. I for one wouldn't have managed to finish my degree without the tools and coping mechanisms and the understanding of recovery which each of the staff helped me grasp and take in each and every day within my 3 week stay.
