I met Ryan Adams, the Physical Therapist at the Burlington location of Doctors of Physical Therapy, about 4 years ago. I was in the final stages of a severe lower back issue, which my surgeon said would soon be "ready" for a three-level fusion. At the time, I was in a great deal of pain, and was very limited in my activities. Nothing I did made any difference in my pain level, and pain medications were on the increase. Ryan knew just how to tame the pain in my back and legs! He taught me ways to do some household chores so I wouldn't "tweak" my back. He manipulated muscle, tissue and ligaments to help the immediate pain, and gave me exercises to do at home to get me moving as much as possible, while I waited for the condition to progress to the point where surgery was warranted, as per my doctor's requirements. It's nothing to take lightly. The exercises also prepared my body for the physical needs that would be caused by the inevitable upcoming surgery. We worked together on controlling the pain with my Pain Management Specialist for two-and-a-half years. The day came when my pain was no longer responding to anything short of opioids. That was it. The time had come. My surgeon wasted no time getting me on his schedule. Ryan taught me some very important techniques I could use before and after my surgery to improve my results. Surgery happened. Everything went perfectly! As soon as it was okay with my surgeon, and when my body had healed sufficiently, I went back for my post-op P.T. with Ryan. No matter whether it's before or after surgery. Without going into any personal medical history I will tell you that I went to see the Dr.s of PT in Burlington initially because they were the closest Therapists to where I live. Geography notwithsatnding, I'm very glad that I chose this office. Holly who runs the office part of the office was great in scheduling, changing, accomodating whatever it was that I needed to successfully complete my treatement. There was never a problem and she always made you feel welcome there. I have had PT in the past but Ryan Adams is one of the best that has ever treated an ailment for me. Not only did he work specifically on the primarily injured appendige, but he took a "whole body" approach to address the underlying and related issues to my problem. I can say without reservation that each and every time I left a session with him I not only felt better, I also walked away with numerous exercises, suggestions, processes, etc. that allowed me to do things on my own that would (and has) accelerate(ed) the healing process. Also worth mentioning is the fact that when you attend a session with him, every minute is spent taking care of business and if you report, and he sees, progress on your part, he doesn't try to drag out the appointments. When you achieve the desired level of success, he calls you done. He focuses on patient care, not maximum dollars. If you are in need of PT, this is your place and these are your people. Ryan Adams was fantastic! I had been having perineal nerve pain (outside knee) and I had already been to 2 other p.t.'s within the Dean medical group. They did not work on me, nor show me how to do any exercises whatsoever. I was simply given a sheet with some exercises on it, and a "here ya go, work on these " Sad. I reached out to my cousin in the Milwaukee area, and asked him if he knew any good p.t.'s he knew of. I was referred to Ryan, and drove 2 hours and 15 minutes, and went out of insurance network to give Doctors of P.T. a try. I was desperately seeking REAL help. Boy am I glad I did. Ryan worked on my for about 45 minutes. Did something to my leg, I would describe as "unlocked" it, and I saw immediate relief. He showed me exercises and stretches I needed to focus on. He was patient and eve let me video tape him doing the exercises so I would not forget how to do them properly. I am a type "a" personality, and he knew how to convey information to me, so that I would be able to take it in, and not go off in my own direction with it, as us type "a's" are known to do! I saw Ryan at this office for a pickleball injury causing both hip bursitis and sciatica from a pinched nerve in my lower back. I have had two herniated discs, hip bursitis, and knee injuries, including a knee replacement. So I have seen a dozen of so PTs. Ryan is excellent, especially for backs. He employs back manipulations, which I found very effective. I was looking for pain relief at first, and the PT played a big part of that. As the pain subsided, we worked on an exercise and stretching portfolio to gain the flexibilty and strength to avoid re-injury. Holly in the office was awesome, too! I was treated by Ryan for my back pain that I was suffering for couple of years. Went to different orthopedic doctors and physical therapist previously but didn't not help much. Ryan was so good, he understood what my issue was and tailored my exercises and did manual manipulation to relieve my pain! So impressed by his knowledge and dedication to help my situation. Dr Ryan and Doctors of Physical therapy is outstanding! I had been dealing with a tendon problem in my foot for quite a while. My ortho doctor recommended dry needling, though few PTs have this training. I have seen other PTs in the past but none seemed as thorough as Dr Ryan. He really listened to me each time I was there, adjusting to my needs on a day to day basis. I asked a lot of questions (!) and he taught me so much about my injury and how to strengthen my feet, ankles and legs. It is clear that he enjoys what he does. Im happy to say I'm nearly pain free but it I ever need a PT in the future I'm going back to him. read more

Being older and active, I've had increasing need for PT. I like how Ryan Adams and my orthopedic surgeon teamed up to keep me going. I ski, paddle board and ride a bike. I also do a lot of physical labor on construction projects and landscaping. My latest challenge was a knee replacement. Ryan got me set up with preoperative strengthening and plenty off post op work to get me thru some difficult challenges particular to my thorny situation. I worked with Jennifer for several weeks on my foot for plantar fasciitis. She's amazing!! Love her! She worked with me and gave me the exercises to help relieve the pain I had for several years. She might have killed me a little but what she did worked. Kind and gentle personality! I am so thankful to her! I highly recommend going to DPT and seeing Jennifer! I went to see Ryan for a severe pain I had been having that I never thought would go away. After working with him for several weeks - I am walking normal and I did not know that would be possible at all. He is so knowledgeable and explained everything to me as we went along. Needed PT after my foot surgery and wanted to try a place closer to my work this time. My insurance covers Doctors of Physical Therapy and I'm so glad they do because I am thrilled with my recovery! While I was getting PT, I had bouts of vertigo and Ryan Adams fixed that AND I had a pinched nerve in my neck/back and he helped with that as well. Doctors of PT did a great job helping me to rehab after a difficult knee replacement surgery. Holly was great to deal with on the busines side and Ryan and Jennifer went above and beyond to help me reduce pain and stiffness and found several procedures and exercises to help me progress and increase my extension and range of motion. Dr Ryan is an excellent Physical Therapist. I have been to many over the last 20 years and I can vouch he is special. I've called him a "miracle worker" on several occasions. He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, patient and professional. He focuses not just on the injury but how it effects the entire body. He developed many of his own exercises and equipment. My doctor instructed me to participate in physical therapy for a debilitating neck and shoulder problem. I'm very fortunate that I selected DPT. Ryan and staff provide professional and personal care. Ryan takes the time to listen and react accordingly. DPT does not take a cookie cutter approach to PT. Each patient is different and the treatment fits the need. Entered Dr. Ryan's office with pain in the ball of my foot. By the end of the first visit the pain was almost gone. He spent a good amount of time on my foot. Taped my foot and good to go!
