Like many others this year, we too did quite a few home improvements. We had been thinking of getting a new garage door for a while and this year seemed as good a time as any. We are happy with the service we received from Dodds and our new garage door looks amazing. Everyone we dealt with were friendly and professional and the installers did a great job. I hired Dodds to replace the rear door in my garage, to install weatherstripping, aluminum capping on the frame of the front and rear doors, and an aluminum bottom retainer with rubber for the front door. I've called Dodds office and was given the date and time of the visit of the sales person/estimator. I got a day off, but nobody came at the appointed time. When I called Dodds office, they told me that they forgot to give the sales person my request. Finally, the sales person/estimator arrived. He gave me a written quote with the total amount, without prices of each type of work. Luckily, I wrote down his verbal quotes for each job. When I've put his estimates together it turned out that the total amount in his quote exceeded his verbal estimates. I had to make several phone calls to make sure he adjusts the total. When the technician (Zaza Zaalishvili) came over to complete the installation on the appointed day, he started by asking me how to install the capping. I told him I'm no expert in garage door installation and suggested that he calls his project manager. This caused Zaza an inexplicable outburst of indignation. Zaza spent 8 hours in my garage. His work was unsatisfactory. - Weatherstripping was not finished; - For some reason the keypad was installed too high, which made it difficult to use; - Zaza damaged one of the wooden beams; - The screws used by Zaza to install the bottom retainer with rubber were longer than necessary and ended up sticking out on the other side. His work caused cracks on an expensive custom-made wooden door. That door was not new, but he could avoid causing additional damage. I've asked him why he used such long screws. He told me he had only that length. When I pointed out all the mistakes, Zaza yelled at me and my wife and called us "shitty clients that he had never met before". And he left with a proud look. Right after he left, the garage door refused to close. I don't know if it was a mere coincidence that the mechanism broke down after Zaza completed the work in the garage, or if Zaza had damaged it. On the next day after my email, a project manager from Dodds head office came to inspect the work. He had to acknowledge that I have every reason to be unhappy with the quality. A day later, Dodds sent a professional master technician. He managed to fix almost all the problems caused by Zaza (except for the holes in the front door that remained after replacing the long screws, and height level of the keypad). So, generally speaking, you can deal with Dodds, but only as long as the work is not done by the man by the name of Zaza, and only after you get a written detailed quote with itemized prices. read more

As a gift to my parents, my brothers and I ordered a garage door opener for our aging parents. On the day of install, the installer showed up at 6pm and bitched that he didn't want to "take this job and should be home eating dinner", but he would do the install. I wasn't sure if he wanted me to be grateful since I was waiting since 1pm for him to arrive. After everything was said and done; we were left with a scuffed up unit that looked like a refurbished opener. Also, I only ordered 1 remote as they were charging extra for additional (1 vehicle on the household)...only to find out that 2 remotes comes with each package anyway. Ordered a garage door from Doods Garage doors on August 11, 2020. Delivery date was mid to end of October. Apparently our Large double door went missing. Still waiting at the end of December. Very disappointed. Customer service needs training on how to handle the situation. Customer needs to kept informed, not ignored. Some type of communication would be nice. We still don't know what is happening. read more

Piss poor service from this company. Spend your $$ somewhere else. The receptionist tells a different story to the workers every time you speak to them, she will tell you that they will do something, and they will say they don't, or didn't know. NOBODY can show up on time. My installation was scheduled and then canceled by Dodds. They rescheduled it for almost 3.5 weeks later!!! That's almost a month! When they did call to reschedule, they promised that they would be there first thing in the morning....it would turn out to be after 3pm when they STARTED taking my old door off. Now to be clear, the installation of the door, the track, the actual door opener was top notch and completely right. It's just the electrical skills and the reasoning powers of their install crew that leaves something to be desired. When I went out to see the job they had done I was asked by one of the installers for an extension cord. Puzzled I asked why. He told me the new cord was only 24" long and wouldn't reach the plug on the wall. Confused, I said the old one did not need an extension cord...come to think of it, it was wired right into the house. That's when I noticed what he did.... THAT IDIOT tore out the wiring for the garage door opener. He was going to ask me for an extension cord to string across my garage calling a THAT proper installation, rather than installing a plug next to the opener (as would be required) on the existing wiring. A sad sad excuse for an installation team. If it hadn't already been paid for I would have refused to pay for the install. Stay away from these people. read more

After calling several companies to get a quote to replace a garage door I needed for a rental property I own in Mississauga, I settled on Dodds. The salesman who came to my house was professional courteous and gave me a competitive quote. I had an over sized garage and had to order the door and was promised delivery and installation within 6 weeks. The installations crew dismantled and took away my old door and the quote was honoured without any upsells or additional costs. I would definitely use them again! read more

We had a car hit our garage door and we decided to go thru Costco since they are good with their customer service. They obviously use a third party which was Dodds doors. We reached out thru email which they tell you to do and someone will call us. So finally one of their reps reached out to us and we set up a date for her to come by date was October 29,2020. Measurements were taken etc we were told it would be ready for the first couple weeks into January will that came and went so we contacted our rep through email and voicemails that had were ignored so we sent and called again til the beginning of February she called my husband to tell him that they were behind due to Covid which we understand so mid February we start contacting her again and of course they went unanswered for at least a week til she called me to tell me that one of the panels was damaged we had to wait again at the beginning of March we start the whole process again til finally she called and tried to say that my husband told her to wait the nice part of this is my husband we're together and he said he never said that considering she had his visa number. So finally on March 18th she placed the order so after all that time she hadn't even ordered it and we got lie after lie. So we had to wait again til late June of 2021. So it took eight months for us to get a new garage door. I can't tell you how unprofessional it is to do this to a customer. I would never recommend this company to anyone!! Called and booked appointment for new garage door opener and installation about a week and a half ago. When province went into lockdown I called Friday to confirm my appointment for Monday afternoon and was told everything was ok. Today (Monday) after 1:30pm and no call or technician so I called Dodds. Was told they had a system change and couldn't find my appointment. Sales rep called me back and apologized for mix up but they were short techs and couldn't install today. Wanted me to book another date. Didn't reschedule. I understand mix ups but I'm not spending my money on a company that simply says "sorry" and doesn't offer compensation for wasting my time; especially since the rep who said 'sorry let's reschedule' is the person who confirmed the appointment less than 3 days before. read more

Bought a garage door from them a little over a year ago. Then the cable drum pulled away from the wall. Dodds came and said it wasn't installed correctly, but also didn't have a problem invoicing a service call for their own shoddy installation. Do not recommend. read more

I received a quote from this company to install a new garage door. In the middle of the job they said they couldn't finish it for that price and left without connecting the electronic system. I now have a new double garage door that I can't open. read more

End of July first call, 25 more phone calls and now Oct 15th and no work done. Lost my estimate, several broken promised on dates to come out. Original estimate of $600 was changed to $1100 when they came to do the work. Worst organization I have ever dealt with. Period. read more

Over a month ago, close to maybe two months, I filled a free estimate request from Dodds website of Richmond Hill. Someone contacted me saying that he needs to see my garage doors to give an estimate, so we made an appointment for a Saturday. Then he called me saying that he won't be able to make due to some kind of personal business he had to take care of, and said that he will call me back soon to make a new appointment..."fine". My husband and I chose Dodds to replace our garage doors, based on good reviews, even though their pricing was considerably more than other companies. We figured you get what you pay for: - wrong! No problem with estimates, ordering, and scheduling (hence two stars instead of none or one). Service beyond that - ATROCIOUS! Service slot was 8:30-2:30. Installer arrived at 4:30 to begin a job that was, he told me, going to take 5 hours! So we rescheduled for a few days later, on a weekend. The installer is overworked as they are short-staffed, working nights and weekends. I arrived home post-installation. Garage doors an inch above the ground, not meeting the floor; keypad broken (it was intact prior); one side door reversing and going back up instead of staying down/closed, caulking incomplete. Clearly a less-than-satisfactory job. I wrote an email to the company demanding these issues be seen to early Monday morning. I heard NOTHING until I had made several calls Monday and Tuesday. When I eventually spoke to someone, it was clear they had not even read my email. He scheduled a service call for the following afternoon. Again, the following afternoon came and went, with the service caller arriving at 7:00 pm. Still, issues are not fixed. I did not take this for a company that you cannot rely on after they have taken your money. It has been an exasperating, frustrating and time-consuming exercise. That is not acceptable in my book! I'm extremely disappointed with Dodds Garage Doors and their poor customer service and quality of doors. I specifically recommended Dodds Garage Doors to my senior citizen parents and to fellow friends and family members because of their good online reviews, specifically from the BBB and because of their advertisement about being one of the best in the industry and providing a warranty on their garage doors. Throughout the years we have had several offers from other companies to install a new garage door at a much cheaper and reasonable price however, because of my insistence that Dodd's Garage Doors would provide a better product and service we ended up purchasing a new garage door with them at an almost $1300 dollar price tag. Recently, much to my surprise our garage door cable came loose and one of the wheels on the doors came out of the bolt. I immediately called Dodds Garage Doors to get it fixed. I was told that we did not get the "platinum" door package and therefore were not eligible for the guarantee. The door is hardly three years old and I was not made aware of this provision when I first purchased the door with Dodds. Then I was told that in order to even get a service person to even come and look at the issue they would charge us roughly $87+ and that does not include the parts and service charge. This is totally unreasonable, especially given the fact that the installation was clearly faulty if the bolts just slid out of holes and one of the wires came loose. They would not even have to purchase any parts; just put the darn thing back together again. Dodds Garage Door does not care about their customers at all and don't honour their agreements. They also actively promote false advertising. I do not recommend them and will let everyone I know that this company provides false advertising and awful products and ridiculously high prices. Don't go with this company. Get your garage door from another cheaper and better provider. read more
