So last week I ordered a $1,300 GPS chartplotter and after a week and no communication from Dodds I call only to find out that my order was canceled because the bill to and ship to address were different. Something that hasn't changed with our company for 25 years. The answer I got from the representative was pretty much oh well, it only takes a few to ruin it for everyone. I never have experienced a company that would not ship to a location even with verification of payment. I guess Dodds Sporting Goods is another one of those companies that will fall by the wayside if they continue to do business and not take people's money. I made a firearm purchase in the store that needed transferred to my local gun shop; once home, I discovered that I would have extra fees and taxes that I hadn't anticipated, jumping my total costs up 25%(!). I had the same experience as someone else on Yelp and on GunBroker. They list items for sale that they later claim they don't have. They sent me an email claiming they no longer had what I bought a full week after I paid for it. I suspect they were offered a better price either in their store or on a different website, but their attitude seems to be that it's not an issue because they reversed the charges. What they don't realize (or care about) is that I already paid my dealer for the California background check ($65 total), plus I took off work early to fill out the paperwork. Their brick and mortar location(s) might be OK, but I recommend you avoid Dodd's on GunBroker, Auction Arms, and all other internet sites. Someone on GunBroker also complained that the item pictured online was different than the item they received. I believe it's a pattern of deceitful practices. read more
