One afternoon I saw a truck of guys ride into the senior parking lot holding guns. Wheeler High school is often pronounced 'WILLER HI'. On their announcement board that sits in front of the school it currently says that they were just ranked in the top 5% of all national high schools by Newsweek. I wonder how many schools are in the top 5% of all national high schools. I had some memorable teachers here. Mr Carter Ms Taaffe Ms Carter Ms Frazer. I felt like I got a good learnin' here even though I slept through a lot of my classes. High school. The education Mr Barrera provides to his students is comparable to the education I received in an International Private school, he brought history to life right from his world literature class and changed our minds in the most positive ways with open ended class discussions about worldly issues, allowing students from different backgrounds to share their thoughts and ideas in a safe space for us to create a better common understanding of each other. It is teachers like him in Georgia who will positively change and enlighten future generations of adults to come. He teaches his students patience, respect, compassion of others, and understanding by treating them with such. We sat in front of the bathrooms for like 10 minutes trying to figure out which one was for boys and which was for girls. Turned out you just use whichever one is open! In addition to just being an awesome environment, where you are accepted for being whoever you are, Paideia has a great curriculum. The year is divided into short and long terms. In the long terms, you take the standard stuff - physics, math, languages, etc. The short term is for classes that are a little more outside the box - Sociology of American Rock & Roll anyone? The teachers here are absolutely outstanding! You can totally tell that they love the school and truly believe in it's mission. And Paul, the headmaster, is just an all around great guy. Graduation was awesome. My graduating class was 57 people and Paul made a short speech about every single one of us! I am so thankful that I was able to go to Paideia on a scholarship. I regularly give them money so that others can do so as well. I am also backing them in their efforts to take over the whole block! Go Paideia!

There were photos of students and Ron on the walls. The event was a masquerade ball and the atmosphere was just right. The decor was beautiful. There was also musical entertainment.
