They are cage free, they have air conditioning and cameras and I can not say enough great things about this business. They are a gem, we have been bringing our dogs here for years and it is worth the short drive out of the city in exchange for the peace of mind we receive while on vacation or out of town. The prices are great and this is the cleanest daycare/boarding business I have been to. We very highly recommend to anyone. Also 2 of our 3 dogs are on full time meds and she administers them perfectly, she doesn't skip a beat - very organized :)

Park Your Paws, boarding - daycare and cattery in Amherst, NS is an amazing facility…read more Recently I found myself in an emergency situation (the kennel I had booked 9 months in advance conveniently "lost" my reservation and I was without a kennel for my Great Dane, Fergus) I've known Carrie for several years (thanks to the dog show & rally o world) and frantically reached out to her in the desperate hope that she might know of a facility that might take my boy for 2 weeks. She immediately offered her wonderful facility (even though she might have to take Fergus into her own home for a night or two) I can't describe how overjoyed I was at this offer. My Fergus is my world..... he is not just a dog; he is my baby. My husband dropped Fergus off with Carrie on a Sunday and Fergus never looked back. He entered the facility and promptly made friends with everyone and everything he met. (Including 4 CATS) Fergus got to play in daycare during the day and had a warm and comfy bed each night. He even got to be a door greeter at the facility. (probably because he wanted to be with his new best buddy- the cat!) Carrie even sent me updated pictures of Fergus and his shenanigans while we were away on vacation. I've never been more relaxed or enjoyed my time away because I wasn't worried about the care that Fergus was receiving. There are not enough stars or praises that I can reap on this facility. Its really a doggie wonderland. Pricing is amazing, and the staff are wonderful, warm and caring towards all their clients. Take my advice, do yourself and your pet a favour.... Book some time off for you and some time in this facility for your pet. You won't regret one second!

I fostered then adopted my baby Hazelnut (nee Mecca) in April, a month before a planned long…read moreweekend away to Cape Breton. Hazelnut had been through 3 foster families before me, over the course of 2 months. Despite having a good life for 7 years (she was reluctantly surrendered by her family when they moved into an apartment), and despite the efforts of 3 amazing, caring foster families, Hazelnut was unsettled, unsure of where life would dump her next, and, I think, misunderstood by all the potential adopters who ran away with their tails between their legs. It doesn't help that I'm gone 40 hours/week for work, and there's nobody around to stimulate her brain cells. Hazelnut is an intelligent, loving hound, but she has some serious anxiety issues around dogs (especially, but not only, big ones), and around certain people, too (I have not yet figured out what makes her snap at people). When her triggers get too close, Hazelnut barks and lunges and froths at the mouth. So finding a dogsitter was going to be challenging! Cathy of A Dog's Day was not fazed by Hazelnut's seemingly aggressive behaviour. Our first meeting, at the beginning of May, 2 weeks after I had adopted Hazelnut, everyone nearly went deaf. Hazelnut was barking and bearing teeth, shouting "Hey everyone! I feel really uncomfortable right now! And I want you to feel that way too!" In spite of the fact that Cathy was then on vacation until a week before my weekend getaway, she planned with me an approach to introduce her to Hazelnut and gradually make the relationship more comfortable. She also brought along her son Jacob, knowing that his gentle, laid-back demeanor would be soothing for an unsettled dog. Cathy and Jacob met me at home and took Hazelnut for a walk. I gave them the key, and later in the week, they let themselves into the house, and took Hazelnut for another walk. All of this was free of charge, because they wanted to make sure the weekend would work out well for everyone, Hazelnut especially! Jacob did much of the dog-sitting while I was gone, and I couldn't be happier with the results. When I got home Monday afternoon, Hazelnut was lolling about on the couch. She was more relaxed than I'd ever seen her. In the course of 3 days, Jacob and Cathy worked some kind of de-stressing magic on Hazelnut. I will definitely be hiring A Dog's Day again in future. And if you need an experienced dogsitter (or dog walker) who is prepared to deal with practically anything, who will plan it carefully, and execute the plan with love and attention to detail, then you should give Cathy a call!

She actually snarled at those people (so would've I). Then, we found Barb and Lloyd. Dogs can tell who loves them. Within 5 minutes she was totally at home, responding to their affection, and playing with the other dogs. It is a home-like atmosphere, they do have some kennels if that is what your dog is used to. I suspect my girl sleeps on the couch. I have no qualms about leaving her there for1-2 week holidays and don't worry one bit. They have a security system and lots of separate yards plus a long run. These people truly love dogs, and it shows. It's well worth the drive from Halifax.

Well this is the answer trust me. We took the Murphy here when we went to California and at first he was a bit sketchy but once he was there he did not want to leave. It is a daycare for dog's the whole concept. Walking in it looks like the inside of a log cabin and you hang our leash in the spot with your dogs name etched in chalk. They have two large rooms for the dogs to socialize as well as an outdoor area for play time. Inside in a separate room there are large kennels and each dog has his own sleep space. Prices are really reasonable as it is $25 for the day or $35 for the night and if you stay a full week they bath them before he comes home. Now when we take Murphy we just tell him to go get John and off he goes right to the door, so cute. This place is a live saver and a nice way to enjoy your vacation knowing someone is with your dog..
