The Captain Chad and deck hand Phillip were awesome. Super friendly from beginning to the end of our trip. Being complete beginners at this sport the 3 hour trip was perfect. We were back at the dock a bit after 11:30 where the crew filleted our fish and we were on our way back to our campground where we BBQ'd our fish for lunch. Phillip spent extra time with my wife explaining how to fish and how the equipment worked. Phillip and Chad baited the hooks, took the fish off the hooks when you caught one and like I said above, cleaned them. We went home with some Mackerel and Cod. The cost is $ 50 Canadian, CASH ONLY/per person, Tax included in the price. Although they never hinted at it, there is a tip box on the boat and we definitely left a nice tip. It was kind of a last minute decision to go fishing and it is now one of our fondest memories of visiting PEI.

Mark did an excellent job explaining how lobster grow, are harvested and how the industry works. He was funny and entertaining. He and Cody were patient with our kids and answered lots of questions. The afternoon sailing was about 3 hours. After we pulled traps we ate a great lobster meal onboard. The lobster was prepared "PEI style" which means cooked but served cold. The boat leaves from the dock just behind the Lobster on the Wharf restaurant. It sails around the harbor in calm water to pull traps. Drinks are included in the price and alcoholic drinks are extra. The tours run at different times during the year depending on weather and the season. If you are looking for something fun to do on PEI, especially with kids, do this. You'll have a great lobster meal and and be entertained.

They took the six of us, Grandpa included, on their boat and showed us how the lobster trapping works. My dad got suited up in overalls and rubber gloves, and helped haul in lobster traps. We learned how to measure the lobsters, and we learned how to tell a male lobster from a female one. I'd never seen lobsters carrying eggs before, but we saw a few then. It was a nice day and the waves weren't too bad, so no one got seasick. We had the freshest lobster dinner on that boat. We got to choose lobsters we had pulled in from the traps, and for $7/lb, they boiled them right there on the boat while we were still at sea, cracked them for us, and served them with melted butter. Oooohhh. Did you know that fresh lobster tomalley/roe is quite green when fresh? I'd never seen it that green before. Super impressive. It was also the best part, and there was lots of it. This was the most no-frills lobster dinner I've ever had, us eating on styrofoam plates with disposable cutlery, but it was still incredible. We took the leftovers home for breakfast the next day. At $45/person before lobster for this 3 hour excursion, it was totally worth it. I've heard that there are times where Kenny will let his customers fish while the lobster is cooking. We were told fishing season had yet to begin, so we didn't get to do that, but if we had been there just a few weeks later... I'd recommend this one to anyone planning an east coast tour.

HINT: If you pay in USA, they do not give change back to you in USA, your change will be in CAN. So for those of you who do not know, right now 1 Canadian dollar is equal to 1.25 American. (The American dollar is worth more then the Canadian dollar.) Hence why you will lose .25 on every American dollar spent. Just a tid-bit.
