Over price and poor service! I used them twice! The first time was to remove spyware and malware off computer! They suggested I put the virus program they use on my computer! They charged me $99 for it, and come to find out you can download it free from the internet! Second time was had issue with my hard drive, couldn't fix it, asked to take the hard drive out and give it to me to destroy, they asked if I was gonna throw the PC away, I said yes, they asked for it as they use parts from them, never offered to discount my bill! Doghouse Computers Awful I went in to have an operating system installed ( Windows) on my hard drive. They installed and warrantied me with a oral/verbal contract. They told me at the time that if I had any problems in the future, that they would be able to reinstall the system. Later, I went in store to get some simple Windows updates, they wanted to charge me $60 an hour. I asked them for a flat rate, so they got angry, and the owner told me to get out face and store at 6 feet away. They said that would not warranty the install anymore, they went back on previous contract. Horrible disrespectful owner, stay far far away... run!!! All I did was tried negotiating with them, Wow. BBB should get wind of this. I would give no stars but Google requires one star to rate.The owner of store responded to my review with false statements. I took my perfectly working laptop to Doghouse for a broken hinge. Once I received it back, it worked for a few hours, and then the screen went out. I took it back, they repaired it. It worked for a day, and stopped working again. I took it back, and the guy working on the computers, Nick, was very unprofessional, rude, combative, and disrespectful. As soon as I stated that my laptop was not working again, he said, "What you trying to say; this my fault!" He continued to go on laughing and saying that he wasn't going to work on my computer, because it was now a liability. I asked him why was he being so disrespectful to me, and stated, that he hadn't talked to anyone else the way he was talking to me. He yelled, "So, what you trying to say, I'm racist." I asked for a refund. He refused, laughed, and walked off. This is the absolute worst service I have ever received. Now, I will say, the young lady who works there, Ashey, was very kind and professional. But, I absolutely do not recommend this business. read more

I brought a laptop in that I just purchased to transfer date from an old laptop that had been dropped. They took care of this expeditiously, and at a very reasonable price. Because of that, I wound up bringing an older Gateway that was an awesome machine. Was having hard drive issue. I upgraded to SSD and was quite pleased (saved all software and info and transferred to new drive). Because of that excellent service, I brought in my other two desktops and did the same. Was completed on schedule and I was more than pleased with work they did on all my machines. I would recommend their services. Contrary to some of the reviews that I read, I would be inclined to question the customer, who often have unrealistic expectations. I found everyone there that I dealt with to listen to my concerns, offer suggestions, and their service was fast, and I was glad to pay for what they did for me. read more

Very knowledgeable and friendly! I have worked in the tech world for a long time, ranging from being a Firedog at Circuit City (woah showing my age) to a developer. Naturally, going into places like this I am overly critical of their work and expertise. However, I went here because I just purchased a new i5 and was lacking Arctic Silver thermal paste. They had it! And, on top of that, they were able to answer some misc questions I had about mounting an SSD in my case. Now, the paste itself was rather expensive, basically double the cost what I would normally pay. However, it was very convenient in a pinch and I'm sure they had to make up for shipping anyways. Not to mention, they gave me a little handful of screws for free to help solve my SSD issue. I do not have anything to review about their actual diagnostic services. On 10/22, I brought in my computers and wanted diagnostic work done, I was promised the the very next day (Friday) or the following Monday. When I called Monday around 4 pm, I was told Tuesday or Wednesday, then Wednesday turned into Thursday/Friday. Today 10/30 I called at 430 pm and it would be Monday or Tuesday. No, I'm not waiting 8-10 days for a simple diagnostic test. This isn't medicine nor litigation, so I went by to get my computers and the staff were polite, but very unconcerned with business leaving. Wanted to tell you about my experience with Doghouse Computers yesterday morning. Now, you need to know that I'm on the backside of middle aged, disabled, and homebound. Oh, and I live alone. Through my own stupidity, I messed up the display on my laptop.... my only link to the outside world. I was devastated, as there was no way to contact friends, family, ect without my computer. My daugher suggested I call Doghouse to see if they could. I wasn't counting on them telling me that the computer would have to come in, and at that point, I was screwed. Waiting on knee replacement surgery, so driving is off the table. To my complete and total surprize, a young man named Steven answered the phone. Now, I had been a customer of Doghouse many years ago on Johnston street, but didn't think that would count for anything. NOT ONLY did Steve tell me how to fix my computer with just a few clicks, he was polite, respectful and truly concerned about the outcome of my problem. I'm taking my HP All In One up there next week to be fixed. I can't say enough about these good people. I was in deep doo-doo yesterday, but thanks to Steven and staff, I'm happily surfing the web this morning. Thank you Doghouse Computers. I'm a customer for life!!!! read more

Horrible place. I brought in my laptop because my screen was flickering. They immediately started sliding and flipping my laptop all over the counter without a care in the world. Cost me a couple hundred to "fix" what they claimed was wrong and when I received my laptop back it had tons of scratches. The didn't fix the issue and when I brought it back so they could correct their mistake, they kept my laptop for almost a month and all they could come up with was "fixing" the same thing they did before and still charged me for this! Not pleased with the recklessness they treat other people's property. Now I have a laptop that still isn't fixed with a bunch of scratches all over it. read more

If you have an issue with any sort of electronic, google it, it will be much more helpful than going here. A few years back I found out my cpu was going bad took it there and since I was only a kid at the time I was told that it was my motherboard because that's what they thought it was so I waisted 200$ on a new one and still nothing took it back the next day to then finally be told that it was my cpu. I waisted 400$ on the same shit I had instead of upgrading it. Just the other day I went there to get another cpu and they sold me an already broken cpu there were multiple pins bent on it already. My point is they aren't good at there jobs they try to get the most money they can out of you assuming you don't know much about computers. Just google what's wrong and I'm sure you'll be able to fix it with out waisting any money for someone else to break it even more. read more

I was first referred to Doghouse Computers about 3 years ago by another business which could not do soldering on the motherboard of a Toshiba laptop. They were busy with other customers when I walked in but my wait time was not bad considering. Clearly posted on the wall is a breakdown on costs for common repairs and services. How many other computer repair shops do this? None that I've been to. There's no question about hourly rates and charges because it's written out right there in front of you in large print. Parts had to be ordered for the laptop, but within 7-10 days, it was ready for pickup. There were no surprises on the repair ticket, repair-wise or cost-wise. I took this very same Toshiba to Best Buy, where it was bought but was out of warranty, and the estimated time and cost quoted was significantly higher than that of Doghouse. I have since returned twice more for other repairs on other laptops. I am always greeted politely and a tech has always been available to check our computers and answer any questions. I have just returned home with our latest repair and am again very please with the service and repair. I will use them again and do recommend them to my family and friends. read more

They have told me to trash my old PC, to go online and download a free apt to correct the problem and another time the owner came back from his house, sick, to finish up a new computer for my wife. Their "geeks" are on target and can give you as much or as little info as you can absorb. They have never tried to over sell me on anything. The place to go for PC trouble or replacement. Lightning killed my motherboard. Being that doghouse built my pc, I went straight there. The service was great! They held onto my pc and walked me thought the process of having my motherboard replaced for free by the manufacture. Once I received the new motherboard, doghouse replaced it. They made sure all my questions were answered and recommended a good surge protector to prevent this from happening again. Doghouse is the only place I will go to for anything computer related. I needed what I thought was a battery for my daughter's computer. The nice young lady who works there, Lauren, tested it and discovered that I needed a new jack (I think that's what they're called, the thing that plugs in- you can see I'm a computer expert). Her computer also had a Malware Virus on it, and it was going to cost me $150 to fix it there, which was cheaper than everywhere else; not only did the young man, I think his name was Stephen, forgive me if it wasn't, give me a discount on the piece that I needed, when I didn't have quite enough money to pay for it, Lauren also walked me through the steps to setting my comp. to factory setting, so the virus is now removed! They might not be as fancy as Best Buy, etc., but I couldn't have gotten the service or have met such nice, helpful young people. Thank you so much! read more

If you are looking for a place to bring a computer take it to dog house computers! Dog house computers is the only place I'll ever take my laptop! I own a 2014 MacBook Air, and suddenly one day my laptop wasn't turning on. I brought it to Geeksquad in Best Buy and they told me there was nothing that they could do for my MacBook. They said that it would cost more to fix the laptop than to replace it, and they suggested that I just bought a new MacBook. Like really, who has $1,300 to spend on another MacBook?!?! So I brought it to dog house computers, and they next day I got a call from Stephen saying that my MacBook was fixed!! They were all so helpful and polite! My computer was fixed in about 24 hours. They are the best at what they do! I'll definitely call them again if I ever need my laptop serviced! Thank y'all so much!! read more

I can't say enough good things about the crew at Doghouse. I had an old desktop computer that had been collecting dust that I wanted to use again so I brought it in to Doghouse for some updates. They expanded my RAM and installed wifi capabilities and a new version of Windows and had it ready for me within 2 days. I brought my computer home and plugged it in and it works better than I expected. Even though my computer is about 10 years old, they didn't try to up-sell me on unnecessary upgrades, only what was needed to get my computer working. Their service was fast, and reliable and the cost was less than I expected. Brought a desktop in with a potential virus in to Doghouse Computers. The computer was working just fine but I could not access the task manager or programs. It booted up just fine and I was even able to get on the internet just fine. When I dropped it off they plugged it in with me there and it powered up fine. The initial diagnosis was a virus. I was told 5-7 days and no more than 3 hours labor. 6 days after I dropped it off I get a call from a tech telling me that they determined that my computer needed to have windows reinstalled. They could back up my files and reinstall windows for $160.00. I told the tech that I would just go ahead and do that myself. He then tells me that it would be cheaper for me to just let them do the work. Again, I told him that I wasn't going to pay for something I could do myself. I picked the computer up paid the $50.00 bill and brought it home. When I plugged everything back in at home to back up my files everything was dead. Computer won't even boot up for me to back up my files. I called back and spoke with the tech and he changed his story completely and was very rude about it. Told me the hard drive was bad when I brought it in. The first line on the ticket says tested hard drive and memory: All Pass...... crooks and liars!!!! I will never go back there and will make sure to let everyone I know to never take anything there. read more
