Recently, we found Luke's Repairs and Remodeling to address the following issues: all interior and exterior doors were replaced and reframed, all pocket doors were replaced with new hardware which required removing and replacing the drywall. We also needed the entire house painted, a closest built around our mechanicals and additional shelving erected in the laundry area, as well as some electrical work. Luke came out, listened to everything we had to say and gave excellent input for the project. He gave us an estimate and stayed within the estimate for the entire job. Luke started on time, communicated throughout the entire timeline and ended on time. Luke, as well as his skilled carpenters, never minded being interrupted with questions and always took the time to communicate clearly. The project took approximately two weeks to complete. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Luke's warehouse to choose the items we needed for the repair and remodeling. Luke also did all the ordering, pick up and checked the materials that were delivered. We never had to bother with any items that were needed for our home. When I asked for his credentials, Luke did not hesitate to provide me a copy of his Kentucky contractor's license and his insurance. We noticed the way Luke was with the men he worked with. They had immense respect for each other. We are confident that the crew will stay with Luke. Finding a quality business to do home repair and remodeling is very difficult. Luke's Repair and Remodeling is a stellar company. My wife said, "Luke and his carpenters have made me fall in love with my home again". As for me, this was a $40,000 project and I could not be happier. We are looking forward to this summer when Luke will be back out to our home to remodel our master bathroom. Thanks Luke.

Dale himself called while the worker was there and asked for payment upfront ($600), so we paid for the work that Dale said would be done the following week. That was 3 months ago. I have left message, sent texts over and over and no one will call back. Check was cashed and work is not done. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH HILLSIDE HEARTH!!!

After providing an estimate on 2/27/25, payment was requested the following day. Multiple promised installation dates in March were missed or rescheduled, often with little notice. On 3/15/25, the company arrived with a fireplace insert that was larger than what we ordered. Due to prior delays and a time-sensitive renovation schedule, we felt pressured to accept the incorrect size. During installation, piping from the old unit was cut and left unfinished. The following day, water leaked from the pipe, causing damage to drywall and subflooring. Temporary repairs were made later, but drywall was not properly finished or leveled, requiring us to complete repairs ourselves. The mantel delivered did not match the agreed design, was not level, and was attached to a wall that had not been properly prepared. We spent additional time and money filling holes, repairing gaps, sanding, and priming. Despite the project not being complete, final payment was requested before the installer left, with a portion withheld until completion. Multiple days of work were missed by both homeowners due to scheduled visits that were delayed or did not occur. After continued issues, we requested a refund for the mantel, which was eventually provided after repeated communication. The final components of the fireplace were not delivered until 3/31/25. Based on our experience with scheduling, communication, workmanship, and project completion, we would not recommend this company.

This company was known as Mid America Roofing when they replaced my roof almost five years ago. I…read morehave had so many repairs made by other contractors starting shortly after the roof was replaced. The bathroom ceiling had a leak that also caused damage to the drywall in several areas in that room. I called the company representative and sent several emails only to find out he was no longer with the company. He gave me the phone number for Chas West and stated he was the owner. The first time I talked to Mr. West, he told me he would have his roofers come by the next day. They never showed. I had no choice but to have someone else repair the roof before the next rainfall. I came home during the roof replacement to find my like new 6" gutters had been removed and replaced with 5" gutters. I ended up paying for them after the representative explained the mistake would be his responsibility and he had a small child and a newborn he was trying to support. The gutter guards I ordered have been a nightmare. The ends were left open allowing birds to build their nest under the guards and clogging up the entire gutters with no way to clean them without removing the guards. I sent the representative several pictures of the debris and requested end caps. Another roofing company is coming to repair the guards this week. During the heavy spring rains, I noticed an area that looked wet on my fireplace. The fireplace is made with the same unique stones as the chimney and is approximately 100 years old. I don't use the room every day and so I was horrified to see the stones had discolored along the damp area. During the next rain, I took a video of a small waterfall running down both sides of the fireplace. I immediately called Mr. West and explained the emergency. He promised to have his roofers come by the next day. They did not show and Mr. West will not answer my calls or return my messages. I had another roofer repair the flashing that had pulled loose and created a 4-5" gap on both sides of the chimney. I have spent over $1000 in repairs during the past five years while the workmanship was still under warranty. I will be taking this roofing company to court. It is my understanding the company has changed names at least two or three times since I signed the contract with Mid-America Roofing.

After repeated calls, Charles finally answered. We talked briefly. Charles then hung up on me and never answered or returned another phone call. The only other time we spoke was when he mistakenly had a truckload of flooring delivered to my driveway. I called, no answer. The driver then called and put me on the phone with him to figure out where his flooring was to be delivered. I called my realtor to help get the repair issue resolved. Multiple people in the company gave us the runaround. They finally responded that the repair had been completed, and that they were not going to do anything else. We are now having another contractor fix the repair and will be taking ABC Construction to small claims court for the repair costs and damages. The company seems shady and mismanaged. I would recommend using another builder and demand that any other builders not sub out to this company.
