The clerk we dealt with worked for Hertz, but was covering for the Dollar guy while he went on lunch - with a 40 minute wait for our reserved car. The online QR code check in didn't work. Their card reader couldn't read my real ID, so she wasn't even going to rent us a car. Luckily my husband's ID worked, but we reserved the car & filled out all the stuff online when we reserved, so 40+ minute wait is ridiculous. The guy who checked the car in the garage was nice. I originally reserved a rental car at the Louisville Airport for pickup on February 17th at 10 p.m., aligned with my flight arrival, with a return scheduled for February 18th at 10 p.m. When I called to adjust the reservation, I clearly requested a new pickup time of 8:30 a.m. on February 18th and a return at 7:30 a.m. on February 19th. However, the employee changed my reservation to 8:30 a.m. on February 17th for pickup and 7:30 a.m. on February 18th for return--an entirely different day than what I requested. When I called back to correct the mistake, I was told the original price could no longer be honored and that the cost for the correct dates and times had nearly tripled. This error was not mine, yet I am now being penalized for it. Because of this, I've been left without a rental car and have had to rely on Uber to get around Louisville. I wish I would have looked at the reviews before I rented a car. They have a one star rating and I see why. I'm giving them 2 stars because the car I rented was in good shape. As multiple people have stated, the rental car line is long and moves very slow. Luckily, one of the people in line spoke with an agent from another rental company and she called the Manger up to help the one lonely agent. The Manager completed 2 to 3 customers to his one customer. I will not be renting from them again . The customer service is the worst I have had experienced when renting a vehicle. This location only the one in Boston MA was absolutely amazing. The staff laughed at my daughter when she became frustrated that their machine was not taking a valid card. My daughter was in a horrific and traumatizing car accident a few days before our experience. The issues was with their card machine not accepting of her card and they treated her like she was the issue "young pretty girl with the messed-up face with no money" is what the older woman described my daughter to be to her coworker. We booked through a third party and here we are 96 hours past not being able to get the vehicle and Dollar car rental still has not closed the reservation even being asked more than 3 times each (equaling 9 times total) by my daughter, myself and the third party so that I can receive my refund as none of the refund policy was broken and does not warrant a non-refundable situation. The experience was so anxiety inducing and frustrating that my daughter and I had to leave and calm down. If you want awful customer service, come here. I came here for a work trip. They had ONE attendant working to assign out cars to customers. It took me 2.5 hours. 2.5 HOURS after my flight landed to get a car. Then when i finally got to the counter, the guy LOCKED OUT my credit card because he input the zip-code for my card INSTEAD OF asking or having me type in my pin. In which i did not want to wait on the phone with my credit card company for another half hour of more wasted time, to reset the pin. Speaking of which, the credit card he locked out had to be used since it was a business trip and now the company will not let me change the charges to the business credit card he locked out. I can't say enough bad stuff about this business but let me start. First of all, one start isn't low enough. I pick up a car and it immediate breaks down. The battery looks like it hasn't been serviced for years. There is a full on battery acid chia pet under the hood. That tells me the mechanics aren't even looking at these vehicles. They send out AAA to jump the car despite me telling them it won't work. It doesn't. They asked me to spend my own money to return the car to the rental place using a tow truck and taxis. Sorry, not my problem. Three days of fighting with them and no car or solutions until I threaten to have the car pushed into the street and impounded. (Which by the way they never never never answer their phones). I eventually get the car towed and on the forth day I get my own ride back to the airport. They give me a new car but offer no compensation for the lost days and instead my car cost was greater than my quote. This place is a total scam. Dollar was purchased by hertz. I had a reservation made months in advance. When I arrived at the counter, no one was there. I knocked on the door behind the counter, and the rep had been sleeping in the back office. She stuck her head out and said they were out of cars and closed the door. This left me stuck at the airport, and I eventually had to take a $100 taxi to my final destination. I called Dollar the next day and they offered to send me a $100 voucher, which never arrived. Can any company be more unprofessional and unreliable? They don't mention the deposit until you're there picking up and if you cancel they have a legal right to keep your money because they ask you at the time of reservation whether you want a cheaper price with limited cancellation or to pay a higher for a unlimited cancellation. This place is the epitome of the bait and switch and then over charging. I booked a vehicle through them for 4 days which the total was roughly $143 for a Nissan Altima. When I arrived, I was told one was not available, but they would discount an upgrade to a Jeep Grand Cherokee, I accepted this plus the discounted damage waiver $17 and $8.99 respectively. I knew this wasn't a large increase in what I had already paid so I was happy with a better vehicle. When I got the new rate, I asked if this included what I had already paid and the counter agent said yes. I asked why the damage waiver was higher than what 8.99 would be for 4 days. She told me it would change to the correct amount when I checked back in. When I picked up the vehicle, there was dog hair throughout the vehicle and the windshield looked like it had been sprayed with something on the inside. Since it took, so long to pick up the vehicle I didn't have time to ask for a different vehicle. When I dropped off the vehicle, I asked the new counter agent if the rate would change and he said, the rate was correct and that because I signed it, I accepted the charges, even though the first receipt clearly states 8.99 a day. When all was said in done, Dollar charged me almost $400.00 to rent a vehicle for 4 days. I disputed this with booking.com who I rented it through and even though they agreed the rates were not correct, they weren't in a position to do anything. This is the worst Rental Car experience I have ever had. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this group. They have regular hours of operations, so if you plane is delayed or something happens were you arrive after they close, then you are just screwed. You will have to wait until 8:00 to pick up to car you reserved. Ever try to cancel your reservation with Dollar Rent-a-Car? It is a nightmare. You call the number (502) 375-0681, press 2, then the automated message tells you to do it online. What a joke. So, you go online hit the "View, Modify, Cancel" link and enter your Confirmation # and last name. Then you hit the cancel button, it will ask you if you are sure you want to cancel; then it will just reload the same page over and over again. I called four times, wait four minutes each of just ringing until someone answered. Then the guy that answered was rude and less than helpful. All two times I have interacted with members of this airport Dollare rental, they have been rude. I went with Enterprise/National/Alamo; they were there when Dollar Rental was closed, they were nicer with respectful customer service, and their prices were cheaper. I did not book this company by choice, I was traveling with the military so it was booked for me (likely because of the lowest price point amongst competitors) and boy did I really get screwed over on this one. Apparently making a reservation means nothing, all of these people showed up "at once" according to the customer service rep as if that was supposed to make me be less upset about the fact that they didn't have a car available. Long story short my reservation was at 6pm and it's now 7pm and there are still 2 other customers waiting for their cars ahead of me. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. They printed us a receipt that was missing numbers, making us think our rental would be $200 cheaper, but then charged us an arm and a leg for our car. Online we were told it would cost $300, but after everything the total was around $620. They are extremely dishonest and their managers were completely unhelpful, telling us it was OUR fault that we didn't notice the numbers THEIR computer hadn't printed. Honestly will never rent this company again. Horrible customer service. Phone customer service is horrible. Charge accounts before customers accept the the term of agreement, so they force the customer into the accept not honoring the reservation as they charged before the actual agreement for renting was signed, and act as if the manager could not just cancel the charge and fix the issue. They nickel and dime till in the end they are the worst deal with horrible service. Unless you wanna feel as if you are being robber, try another car rental. Deceptive, Fraudulent, and Unethical Practices. I made a reservation via Expedia.com. At the Louisville, KY airport counter, the Dollar representative (Vladimir) claimed that he was unable to see my reservation in the system even after I offered him my reservation confirmation number. He adamantly claimed that there were no cars available, and that I would be lucky to find a car since they don't honor same day bookings. He said that he was originally from Cuba and that he would help me on grounds me being Latino (that should have been a red flag since that implies different client treatment and servicing outcomes founded on racial bias) However, I was traveling with kids, it was late, I needed a car, and he appeared to be acting in my best interest. He quoted me a price that was $20 more than what I was planning to pay per the Expedia reservation and I went on with the reservation. However, later on, when I received the receipt via email, there were additional costs for upgrades that were not disclosed during the interaction. I ended up paying so much more. I was taken advantage of by someone that knows well that he can blame their actions on the possibility of "system delays/problems". That was painfully obvious as In retrospect, I realized that somehow I ended up with the vehicle type and general reservation specs I had booked via Expedia.com. An amazing "coincidence" since supposedly Vladimir had no way to see my reservation in the system & I never disclosed those details to him. read more

Hertz and Dollar car rental are PIRATES!! BEWARE or better yet USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY!! The place scams you for fuel charges. My reservation included the prepay fuel option. My flight was delayed. There was one guy at the desk who took forever with each person. I had printed out my reservation (in case there was no cell service). I handed him the print out so he had all the information! He checked me out - highlighted the rate, dates, etc. He does not ask me about the prepay fuel charge but since I handed him my reservation paperwork I assume it was include. When I drop the car they charge to me to refuel. I go back to the desk where I rented the vehicle about his mistake and he gives me some bulls**t line about how only reservations can fix it like it is some other company. And now reservations is telling me they can only go by the terms of the contract and only the location can do something about it. Hertz (parent company) also tried to scam me for fuel charges. We rented a car on Thursday June 30, 2022 and returned on Saturday July 2, 2022. Today we checked on credit card bill only to find two additional charges of $100 each. After contacting customer service I was told that the renting location never closed the contract and that would be charge an additional $100 everyday until they close it out. I asked to be transfer directly to the rental counter so I could speak with someone and they refused. Now my husband has to go in person to try and resolve this issue. I have never rented a car i had a upcoming trip and rented a car on MAy 11th and paid for it had paperwork that said i would only need to pay $130.93 at pickup. when i went for pickup and she asked for my car i was confused and stated i had already paid. she said yes but they still needed card i said ok she asked if i wanted insurance and i said that i believed that i had already paid for she said yes ok i need you to sign here saying that you are not responsible for vehicle then when i dropped off i asked again because there was a hold on my account for $700 i was assured that it would drop off and i would charged the $130.93 plus the gas fee. that isn't not what happened i was charged $445.13 on top of what i already paid making my rental a little over $900 this is more than i paid for my hotel witch is crazy. when i called customer service i was told i was sorry out of luck nothing they could do, i asked to talk with manager and they hung up on me. this is awful training and customer service. read more
