Store has been looking great lately. The one cashier is so fast, if there's a line, it moves fast.

While I understand that retail environments can be challenging and often understaffed, my experience during my recent visit fell well below the standard of professional service I would expect. During my visit, I approached the register to make a small purchase only to find the area completely unattended. I waited for approximately six to seven minutes. While I was at the point of considering leaving my items behind, I chose to wait to see how the situation would be handled once a staff member arrived. When the cashier finally approached, they moved slowly and did not offer any acknowledgment of my presence despite the clear wait time. Upon reaching the register, the only interaction was a brief "hello," with no apology or recognition of the significant delay. I recognize that staffing constraints are a reality in retail; however, basic professional courtesy and acknowledgment of a customer's time are essential to providing a positive experience. A simple apology for the wait would have made a substantial difference in how the situation was perceived. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as I believe a greater emphasis on customer service training could significantly improve the shopping experience at this location.

The interior of this store is difficult to navigate with a shopping cart. Very easy to hit display end caps and there are support posts that make it hard to get around. Whoever laid out this store should be fired.

Blame the one who owns the store. The district manager. The people at this location in marboro, are very nice from the manager to everybody else in that store. It's sad that when it's in 75 and above in the summer, the owner of this location does not have adequate AC for them. But they expect them to work using a freaking fan that is only blowing heat. So yes, they're gonna leave the doors open. And that's the owner's fault. Because they're cheap by not getting a correct ac. Unit for these people. S they put the self checkout back, then people would get through a little faster, or if you have more people working to do the registers, instead of just throwing it on one person to handle a bunch of people. Other issue I have here. It can be a freaking holiday. It can be a blizzard outside and you have these people coming in and working a full shift while you're sitting home as an owner district manager. But they gotta be out there to work a full shift rather than closing the store down, say by noon, and letting them also be able to get home safe before the weather. Gets too bad out there or if it's a holiday, letting them go home. Half day to spend it with their family. It's the owner and district manager fault, whatever happens at this store not the employee's that are working in their. And you don't pay them really that good. It's said it's a local store. A lot of people go there because it's convenient. Maybe get rid of the district manager and get somebody in there that isn't just coming into points and say, this is your fault. This is your fault, do this, do this, get a district manager that's gonna also accept responsibility that if this place fails, it's their fault, don't blame somebody else. If you're not doing your job as a district manager your setting up your employee's to fail. That also goes for the milton store, so if you got 22 different stores. And these employees are trying to do it all running ragged, but they're being blamed by the district manager. Come on, really, hasn't the owner of this business figured it out yet? I've been to the 3 stores middlehope. Marboro, Milton, every manager in these stores. I see. Working in doing whatever they gotta do with the employees, keep it running trying to do the shelvings, trying to put things where they belong, dealing with the customers. So the district manager that handles those 3 stores get rid of them and get somebody better. Somebody that's a teen player, not one that points the finger.

The shelves are improperly stocked for starters,…read moreyesterday, September 13th 2018 my fiancé got sick because she bought a bottled ice coffee beverage from the cooler that had expired in MARCH. That beverage sat on the shelf, or in storage for 6 months AFTER its expiry date and was allowed into the hands of a customer. The store is CONSISTENTLY filthy. chipped floor tiles causing a tripping hazard in certain aisles, caked up dirt and mud all over the floor as if it hasn't been swept or mopped in months, AC that didn't work for half the summer making employees and customers alike very uncomfortable. I do not blame Employees for these issues, I Blame upper Management. I was a regular at this store for some time due to it's low prices but am boycotting after my fiancé was able to purchase a dairy product that was 6 months past expiration. Every employee I've known there doesn't last long, and it's not because they're irresponsible people. it's because they're unsupported by their leadership in corporate roles, heavily overworked due to understaffing and exhausted beyond reason. for the low wage they're probably being paid, its just not worth the headache. whenever I go, they're just sad. They seem depressed, defeated and distraught. In conclusion, it seems to me their employee quality of life is miserable and unfair. Upper management needs to take pride in the storefront they put together and present to the public, instead of relying on their low prices. I grew up in this town and have watched as the store has degraded more and more over time. It's become a real eye-sore on the neighborhood, the sign on the front of the building is even dirty and probably 40 years old. If your employees were treated better, had more support from additional staff (Which you need to hire) and you invested in maybe updating the floor tiling from the 70's which is all but crumbling away, they MAY be interested in sweeping, mopping and checking expiration dates. Get it together Dollar general, you've lost me as a customer until that store see's some improvement. Sincerely, Someone you've pissed off.
