I see that was the only review for this store and it was submitted in 2013. Nevertheless, I am compelled to write my own review becuase I totally disagree with what Miss Nunya B had to say! Being a small town grocery store definitely is disadvantaged. With smaller customer base they can't be expected to offer as many choices as the big city and can't compete with the big city prices--but they do a darn good job of both! I will argue that driving 30 miles to Walmart to save money doesn't actually do that in consideration of the price of gas, etc. If you shop MSM sales the prices are usually less than the big stores. But price isn't everything...MSM has a GREAT MEAT DEPARTMENT. If you speak directly with one of the butchers I can guarantee you will get the best of what ever you are looking for! They will pick out the very best steaks or roast and you won't be disappointed. The DELI has the best fried chicken in town! And if you call ahead when wanting a big order they will guarantee to have a freshly cooked batch ready when you want to pick it up--never the stuff that has been in the case since lunch! Their meats and cheeses are always fresh and there is always something on sale to choose from. The PRODUCE department is always fresh. They are good to bring in seasonal items with prices very comparable to big stores. Last of all...as a resident of Torrington I love to see all the familiar faces of the employees who work there. MSM provides a lot of jobs and based on how many employees have worked there for a very long time (20+ years) they must treat their employees very well. Yes, I do shop at other stores from time to time--usually for an item that they are not able to get. But Main Street Market is always my go to store for all of my grocery shopping!

Which was useful, as I forgot the Wedding card, need some pharmacy items, and wanted to stock up on some drinks for our after-wedding trip. When the other employee left, the jewelry counter associate disappeared!!!! This isn't the first time that their customer service is lacking. I have been waiting in long lines at the checkout and noticed that none of the customer service desk employees or managers will offer to get on a register and help check out people. And if by some stroke of luck a manager does ask them to help it is always met with an exasperated eye roll. I am tired of this store's lack of basic customer service skills and will no longer be shopping here. There is nothing in this store that another store in town doesn't have. Some may argue that they have the cheapest prices, which may be true, but the quality is extremely lower as well. You get what you pay for.

We went to that Walmart earlier today and got told they discontinued them last year. Why??? There are hotels here so why would they do that?? In two days this business has had issues with their card machines.
