Store is located just outside of Northumberland on Route 11, immediately next to the American Legion. Parking lot can get tight if the store is busy and it's built on a downhill slope, so unattended shopping carts can roll away. What will you find product wise? A decent fresh fruit/vegetable section. Frozen food section with a lot of discontinued products. Tons of canned good including bulk #10 cans. This location off season sells various fountain fireworks. They also have small kids toy selection. Compared to the Berwick store, this one feels like it has less stock in general. Why I knock a few stars off is you need to check expiration dates on EVERYTHING. No exceptions and at this store they are less well marked on items like cereal. Toiletries and other general pharmacy items are not competitively priced. Paper products have about the same quality as generic items at Dollar General (not great.) Overall, I like Surplus Outlet, and it's worth stopping in to see what they have.

The store is spacious for a discount grocer and had a large section of beauty and health products, more so than others. Many were damaged packaging or expired but that's to be expected. What I didn't expect was such a large and impressive freezer and produce section. Had I had more room in our travel trailer camper I would have bought a ton more! Prices were low and the selection was very broad and fully stocked. Ditto for the produce which looked to be in very good condition and not "seconds". Since discount grocers tend to carry discontinued products I did find several items I'll probably never find again, but at least I enjoyed them once! The staff on the floor was also helpful in directing me to the dept I was looking for. The cashier however had the personality of a slug, and when hubby and I tried to engage in conversation with her she made eye contact but no response. Four stars because although they had a cart wipe station the wipes were completely dried out. A sign at the door insisted there would be no entry unless masked. However a big family with a ton of kids (all touching stuff and a muck around the store) ignored the mask rule and were allowed entry. Also when I tried to go back Sunday on our way home to stock up they were closed. No Sunday hours is a huge let down.

There's a campground we like to visit in this general area and after a few trips up this way was happy to have stumbled across this thrift store. Even though I had searched previously for thrift stores for whatever reason it doesn't come up in the search engine. Overall this area is beautiful, but does appear slightly impoverished so I wasn't expecting much as far as name brands, etc. But fortunately I'm not a brand whore and shop for whatever pulls at my heart regardless the name on the label. The store is located in a run down (but probably the largest) shopping plaza in the town of Sunbury. Inside it could have definitely used some tweaking as far as general cleanliness but was organized by dept, items, and loosely by size. Woman's clothing inventory was in abundance and I was happy with the quality and condition I was seeing. In fact I bought a trash bag full of items for myself. The racks were jammed packed and close together. It was difficult to not only social distance but get past someone with a cart. Overall the store was probably at full capacity as far as items it could hold and given the limited amount of thrift stores in this area this location probably gets all the donations for several nearby towns. The staff was pleasant and they even offer their own loyalty card for additional discounts and special days for cardholders. I did have to ask for it after the lady in front of me presented one. Do make sure you ask if not offered (it gave me 50% store wide at another location the next day). So while you may need to shuffle thru and hunt a bit, that's part of the fun. Will definitely go back next time we camp in the area.

Ollie's stores are a ton of fun as you never know what you're going to find. This store though is…read morereally lagging behind many of the others in the area such as Cressona (Former Ames) and Hazleton (Former Value City) due to the buildings size and condition. Previously, a W. T. Grant store was at one point located here before Ollie's. No changes to the exterior of this store have happened, but in the last few years the interior was changed. Ollie's is trying to stock too many items in this store for its size, as it's hard to move around due to narrow aisles. The roof of the store also appears to be in poor condition, as many of the ceiling tiles have major water damage or have been removed. Stock is not the issue at this store, as per most Ollie's, they have an interesting selection of all different things. As usual, if you're buying food and certain other products, watch the expiration dates. Ollie's should look for better space, as this store is no longer a great shopping experience, but aside from the mall I'm not sure they could find any in this area.

They were also having a rummage sale in what usually is the greenhouse (but is closed for the season) and my husband found a beer growler to add to his collection. It seems like they have a lot of stuff constantly coming in for the antiques section so it may be worth a second look. It's definitely worth a stop and is one of those places where you could spend either a few minutes (if you know what you're stopping for) or an hour or so (if you are just browsing)! All in all, I'd recommend stopping!

Would have been nice to know when we walked in that she was closing her shop early and would have been nice to know it was closing as we were actively deciding what we wanted.
