In the context of property, "blight" refers to a state of deterioration and decline, often characterized by neglect, abandonment, or a combination of factors that negatively impact a property and its surrounding area. This location is a complex blight issue. I wish I had my phone on me to take photos because this was actually unbelievably bad. It appeared they only had one staff member working and his customer service skills were none.

When thinking of this particular location the words "Eeew! NO!" come to mind. I was in a hurry and found myself in a line a good ten feet long with only on register open. A woman in front of was thankfully not shy at all about shouting out to the cashier "Hey! Do you think someone could open another line?" She was blunt, but not rude. The cashier's reply was unmistakably rude when she got on the microphone and shouted "Gee! Open another line? I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT!" and then hollered another associate's name to come open a register. He appeared promptly and thankfully was much nicer. On the way out the woman in front of me said to the cashier "Try being a little nicer to people. You should be be fired" which then launched the snotty cashier into a meltdown, shouting again on the microphone "Oh, I should be fired should I???" and then had to call her colleague over to help her because in the middle of her meltdown she couldn't count change. It was the most bizarre thing I have witnessed in a store in a good while. Too much drama to ever visit this dump again.

The whole point of going to a dollar store used to be that you didn't have to think about prices--you could just grab a few cheap, simple things and go. Now it feels like you have to double-check everything, which kind of defeats the purpose. If I wanted to carefully compare prices or pay more for items, I'd just go somewhere else. Even places like Goodwill don't always feel like a deal anymore, so it's disappointing to see dollar stores heading in the same direction. In the 90's it was decided that the company would only focus on the development of dollar stores and in 1993 the name was changed to Dollar Tree. The company now operates close to 15,000 stores in 48 states. The company also operates the Family Dollar chain. This Dollar Tree is in the Ocean East Mall in Stuart. In the past I have shopped Dollar Tree for inexpensive birthday decor, bags, candy, wrapping paper, tissue paper, greeting cards, and sensory items for my students. This time I was on the hunt for the new summer line that has been popping up all over Instagram. I was especially looking for the fun shaped drink containers with straps. My local Dollar Tree didn't have them but they still had a few in the watermelon and lemon shapes here but not the camera which I really wanted. I wish I had found them before school ended so I could have given them to students as end of the year presents but I did pick up a few for summer camp. The summer decorations at Dollar Tree look like they have been taken up a notch. The quality and variety seems better this year. I am really enjoying the new summer line which will enhance any summer get together. They also had cute oversized Father's Day cards for only $3 so don't forget dad!
