While they had a lot of classic and domestic products, they do offer a decent amount of local beer, wine, and pre-mixed cocktails (even though the Untappd app said the local beer I was looking for wasn't sold anywhere in a 25 mile radius, Island Foods had it!). We came the week of Pony Penning, and the store makes a couple dozen cakes (see picture) to celebrate the occasion. The produce aisle is small, but they have enough that you could get a decent variety of fruits and vegetables for your stay. There's a pretty decent selection of meats here. I don't remember seeing too much non-frozen seafood, but I imagine it's hard to compete with the fresh catch with specialty fish markets on the island. I was pleasantly surprised to find several Gardein products, which meant vegetarian Child #1 could have some imitation meats and seafood if he wanted a protein similar to what the rest of his omnivorous family would get. Things are pricey. Inflation's here to stay and it's a touristy beach town. Considering that, it's not too bad. The folks at the register were very friendly. Whatever foodstuffs you're looking for, it's a good bet that Island Foods has it.

I got my few items and was in produce when I saw her complaining about whatever she was complaining about ON THE SALES FLOOR (because customers want to hear this when they go shopping) to another employee. The employee was backing away from her and appeared to be trying to get to another section and Kim kept following her. Then people wonder why work doesn't get done. Stock clerks are trying to stock but store managers need free therapy sessions. The aisles that I did go down were at least clean if not fully stocked. The bathroom was clean. I did self-checkout and it went smoothly enough. If it hadn't been for the store "manager" whose hairstyle is stuck in 1980s Sussex county, I'd have given this a higher grade. The food is unique and cheaper than many of the name brands you will get at Wal-Mart and Food Lion, the Aldi brands are mostly from Europe. Though doubt you will miss the name brands or even many of the Wal-Mart store brand, as the quality of the brands at Aldi rival the name brands. For example you got the 89¢ cans of Summit energy drinks that are up there in quality to the Monster energy drinks that are $2.28 at Walmart. Only downside is you have to bring a quarter to get a cart and bring your own bags. But it is better for the environment, and it keeps prices lower to not spend money on bags or cart pushers. If you hate carrying cash like me for the cart issue get somthing called a cart token on Temu or Amazon, and put it on your keychain, it will trick the quarter lock into thinking you are putting a quarter in. I also ordered beach/boardwalk fries and those were pretty legit. All in all, it was a cheap and very satisfying meal. I can't wait to come back to try their fried pickles too.
