I kept hearing all the commericals raving about this place and had to check them out. Their name…read moreis so strange many probably assume they're some sort of employment agency instead of a retail store. Similiar to a Big Lots only with clothes and without furniture they're located in the old Kmart building. I personally was underwhelmed, as the quality wasn't there and the merchandise was nothing special, off brands, and priced the same as a Walmart. I saw items of equal value and branding going for 2 to 3 xs of what the Dollar Tree next door would sell it for. I did buy a few things, a generic version of Play doh for $3.99/5 pack, and a three pack of plastic readers for $2.99. They have a loyalty program they were pushing (I did not join). My friends meanwhile, were thrilled, and filled their carts. While I wasn't impressed, a general merchandise store is greatly needed in this area since Kmart closed.

I often find treasures that I can then gift, or add to our children's library. I've bought many, many books here. Sadly, the store is often dirty. And then often the book section is an exaggerated state of disarray. The books in front are all placed forward facing, blocking all the books behind them like a mean little fence. I thought there was a crazy person coming to the store doing this, but no, it's the store staff. Apparently the only solution to overstock is to stuff the books in wherever and who cares about how the customer will experience that. Any child who comes to peruse can't move a book without the potential of a avalanche of books collapsing forward. There is no rhyme or reason for the state of the book sections, all I know is that sorting books vertically with the titles facing outward can't be that hard. The employees are always operating at the minimum status, often not saying a word to us at check out, besides "here's your receipt". I probably won't ever return, simply because it's obvious the owner or manager or whoever does not seem to care about the way customers will experience their store or the experiences they will have in the store. Why support a business that seemingly just doesn't care?

Every other retail that I've worked in the manager was always there organizing and cleaning the stores with their employees and jumps on register, this one is just plain lazy always sitting in the office. Now why am I giving this Gabe's the 2 star treatment? My daughter goes to the bathroom within the first 5 minutes of us being there and comes out distressed. Why might you ask, because apparently the bathroom was a disaster! She said there was feces smeared on one toilet and when she entered the handicap stall she immediately slipped in a puddle of urine! Why in heck was this bathroom sooooo filthy?!?! Of course our shopping experience was over before it really started. My daughter grabbed and outfit off the rack she could change into and we proceed to the line where the manger was ringing people. My daughter explained what had happened and the manager appeared to be very apologetic and said she couldn't give her the outfit for free, but did discount it. Honestly, in this case it should have been free. One outfit is far less expensive then a lawsuit. What if that had been an elderly person? Or what if she had been seriously hurt? I get the feeling that they are short staff because as I said the manger was ringing up customers. Corporate there's a problem in this store. Fix it before you loose more customers. I definitely won't be back to this Gabe's.

TARGETS ADULTS with SPECIAL NEEDS- Telling Them to Vacate the Seats…read moreI've bought lunch and ate in the seating area at Wegman's several times. I am a support staff for adults with intellectual disabilities or autism. Sometimes when I am supporting an adult with special needs, we would buy lunch at Wegman's and eat there. Afterwards, we would play a couple games before leaving. I didn't see the harm it. We see many groups meet there to play Mahjong or Dominoes. There are people there working on laptops. I've seen people crocheting there. They have a television for children to be able to sit and watch. Since there are always plenty of empty seats, I thought it was acceptable. And maybe THAT is, but Wegman's seems to have a REAL PROBLEM with adults with special needs. Small groups of staff helping adults with intellectual disabilities have been asked to leave while others are there doing a variety of activities other than eating. The excuse given: "We want you to leave after you eat." When the support staff who was approached questioned why they were singled out, that Wegman's staff person went to the other small group of individuals with special needs and told them to leave-- totally ignoring others around who were doing things other than eating. This is not the only time small groups of disabled individuals were asked to leave. Yet, I always see others, even large groups meeting there to play games, and I've never seen any Wegman's employee ask any of those groups leave. I've never seen a Wegman's staff ask people on laptops to leave. This definitely looks like discrimination against people with disabilities.
