What's pretty fun about this place is that you can grab some high dollar value items if you put in the work. El Remate is closed on Thursdays as they reset each week with new inventory. Depending on the day you go determines how much you spend. Fridays have the newest inventory and every item, I MEAN EVERY ITEM, you check out with is $8 a piece. The payment schedule is as follows: Friday $8 Saturday $6 Sunday $4 Monday $3 Tuesday $2 Wednesday $1 A few things I learned while here. Please respect their policy of not opening boxes on the floor. They have a dedicated room where they'll open it up for you and if you don't want it they'll retape it. The organization is that there is no organization. I did notice more home and tech accessories were towards the left of the store. Bulk food and drink items were in the back of the spot. Looo for the very back wall to the right and you'll see them do pop-up drop offs of various crates. It's a pretty fun way to score some deals. I even found $60 tempurpedic pillows for my king bedroom and got a set for $20 plus a wide variety of other goodies including a whiskey smoker set and a 20lb kettlebell.

I recognized the items and value so some items weren't worth it, but the Dali pans and pizza racks were brand new and run $30 each, so they were steals. One man's return is another's treasure, so to speak. It's basically the same concept as Black Friday except they have crazy sales on Friday like the one this coming Friday with Easter eggs hidden all around the store. If you find one with a number you can buy $200-$400 items (I'm looking at that motorized scooter) for $8! They have such crazy deals that people will come Thursday night and STAY THERE ALL NIGHT to be first in line at 9am.

The real hooker is the price for everything. On this day, we went on a Saturday which meant EVERYTHING Awas only $5! Pretty sweet steal for majority of the items i grabbed! The way it works is that they are closed on Thursdays only and i assume its to allow all the random rejects from different places, including Amazon Warehouse! Then they open Friday to Weds. On Fridays, its $8 per item. Sat is $5. Sun is $4. Mon is $3. Tues is $2. And Weds is only $1! Most of the really good stuff is gone by Friday. The hubby got me a sweet cast iron skillet, electric wine opener, Bodium french press for 4 cups, and a weighted vest to workout with for $8 each! He got himself a very expensive fishing reel for only 8 as well! Its quite a rush coming into this place once you start spotting all these amazing deals that make you want to look for more! Its terrible but addicting! Its also kind of dirty from all the shipping boxes i imagine, so bring gloves! You definitely want to make sure the stuff you buy hasnt been used or EXPIRED! The value & selection of clothing items were satisfactory. I appreciated the extra privacy for the dressing rooms with the clamps and thick curtains. Service was great! Staff being present to help on the floor and at the counter there were other opportunities to partake in to take off additional %. Our total came up to a little under $24 after browsing through the well stocked athletic section!!! We got so many pieces in that section alone. They have a great shoe collection as well. The purse/bag section was relatively small but still great for other needs. This will definitely be a go-to spot for our clothing and accessory needs! And I know, judging by the name, you'd think it's all about aliens...but no, this place has a little bit of everything. Comic books, vinyl records, vintage lunchboxes, sweet Breaking Bad artwork, and neon sign. There's just a million different things in this store that I love and want to own. So many things that I want, but a few of the things that stood out on my first trip was the Captain Morgan statue (that thing was seriously bigger than me...check the pictures), the Walk/Don't Walk signs, a snowglobe with the original owner's picture in it (perfect gift for White Elephant...just saying), and the huge amount of comic books that were only $2. A5S is in this antique shopping warehouse that's filled with a bunch of different stores, so it may be an all day trip if you're like me. The outside really doesn't look like much, but A5S is huge. You're not human if you don't leave this place with a bag filled with cool stuff at an unbeatable price.

The bald man, dressed in a Rolex and assuming the role of a manager, was incredibly rude. I…read morepurchased a pair of scratched shoes from him. He allowed his shoes clerk to hand me the new ones she had brought from the back. However, he snatched them out of her hands and declared that they were all scratched, explaining that that's how they came. manager then snatched the box from the assistant's hand and stated that they were all like this. I bought them took five steps out of the store and turned around and returned them. Despite my attempts to return the shoes, he opened the box as if I had damaged them. He watched me leave. He's attitude left such a sour taste I didn't feel right taking them home. He never made eye contact with me. Later, I bought the Birkenstocks at the actual store in Houston and inquired if they came scratched. They assured me that they didn't, unless purchased from a resale store. The other shoe attendants were all women and very pleasant, but the manager was truly awful. I will never visit that store again.

Yelp had it as 8 percent cash back but that didn't work either. Welp! Lol. J/K. The good thing is I'm recycling and helping out a non-profit while buying stuff I want. I could spend hours in this store because they have so much stuff to look at at decent prices. The books are buy 4, get 1 free. The least expensive I saw were 99 cents each. Savers offers 50 percent off if you buy something with a tag that's a certain color. Anything with an orange tag was 50 percent off when I went. The colors change everyday. They'll let you know which color is on sale when you get there. I believe they also offer military discounts...don't quote me on that though. They have a lot of namebrand items like Gap, Coach, Michael Kors, New York and Company, Guess and more! They even had a Rocawear purse! (Jay-Z's former brand until he sold it). If you like 80s and 90s music, they have you covered. The song that stood out most was "Summertime" by Will Smith or DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince. Wow! Memories! I love purses so I spent $40 on 3 of them and brand new socks. I got 2 wristlets (one was Gap) and a smaller purse (New York and Company). I saw some books I wanted by Nicolas Sparks and Judy Blume. I'll have to go back because their inventory changes often. A+ experience here! I prefer this Savers over the one on the eastside. It's cleaner and has a wider selection.
