Almost all of their shelves are super dirty like they've never seen a rag a day in their lives.. and I get it.. they probably do not get paid enough to care.. but this is a well known company.. they should send out people to clean this place up at LEAST once a month. There's also no air conditioner in there.. that's wild. It's summer and NYC gets super humid.. those poor workers and customers. 3. Most of their time their stuff doesn't work. I was there today and the belt on the register didn't work.. they also require you to use exact change if you're paying in cash. What? How about corporate comes out here and fixes things up. 4. These poor workers are exhausted and irritable. One person working a line of 20+ people while every other register is closed, why does this even happen? I'm wondering this place is a franchise and the owner just doesn't care? Corporate needs to step in and fix these issues. This place used to be a bit better about 10 years back. It's horrible here now. If you go out of state to any other Dollar Tree, it would NEVER be as bad as here. They were only $10.99. I went back and bought another color. I've seen them sell clothes from Macy's and oldnavy. They also sell scrubs. Like another reviewer mentioned, they do sell a lot of overstock or out of season items from H&M which I also love. Downstairs looked like a really dingy Ross/TJ Maxx close out store from the suburbs (from the not-so-great parts of town) with EVERYTHING being $5.99. I saw a lot of k-mart, target type brands. Nothing extremely fashionable, but ok if you're looking for a few staple wardrobe items (I.e. shorts, t-shirts, children's clothing). The best deals were probably the coats/jackets which are a steal at $5.99, but very hard to want to shop for IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER. Bought a lot of wedding stuff here in the past like beautiful $2.50 frames and mesh slippers for guests which was a deal compared to other stores in manhattan. They also have random odds and ends such as curtain rods, kitchen and bath supplies and furniture. Overall, a no-fuss store that most people will find something they need (or make themselves believe they need).

Another kind was bamboo but it looked like it wouldn't last. The best thing about this place was finding raw demerara sugar; that's cane sugar that hasn't been stripped of its nutrients; less processed than turbinado. And it was only $2.49 for a 14-ounce tub! I've never seen demerara sugar this inexpensive before. (Another store had it for $9+ a pound.) Went here after dropping off a chair at Das Upholstery. I will be back when I pick up the chair and get more sugar and maybe pick up some Ball jars, which weren't as inexpensive as Target but worth not having to buy a pack or make an extra trip.
