A typical dollar store in a busy area just north of downtown Richmond area. Store was fairly well organized for what it was, though selection seemed to be a bit less than what you would see in the US and at a slightly higher price point if you're not able to take advantage of exchange rate to USD. Store was definitely a bit older and could use some touch ups all around, though you also don't expect much being a dollar store. A few questionable characters seemed to roam around outside and inside, though if you're just going in/out and know what you're looking for, this place serves its need at a fair price. read more

The selection at this store is good but the staff do not want customers to shop here. The most common cashier is an elderly lady that constantly accuses my kids of stealing when they're with me. The things she says we "took" are brands not even at the store. For example I will have them go to the end of the checkout and bag our items in a bag with another stores logo, and she will say we took that bag from there. Last I checked dollar tree doesn't sell Lululemon or Purdy's chocolate. She also has NEVER said thank you. Just tosses our receipt down and looks away. Now there is a newer cashier there that does not know how to count Canadian coins and embarrassed me in line. I had to count my change for her twice, both times she then recounted it and said I was short. I was not, and if she knew the value of each coin it could have saved me the frustration and embarrassment. When I tried to explain the value of the coins to her she tossed the in the till before I could prove it. It's not like it was a handful, it was three quarters and four nickels. I am a fan of Dollar Tree stores. So when we came across this branch in Vancouver, I was so excited to see what inexpensive treasures I could find. Got to say that this Dollar Tree is one of the more cluttered stores I've been in. Some aisles were too crowded with stuff, and made it difficult to go around. Service was okay. Overall, it was a adequate experience. We found some good buys and products that we cannot find in our hometown Dollar Trees. Would probably be a regular if I lived in the area cause I love great deals for just a dollar! read more

I definitely like dollar tree over dollarama. These guys take credit cards. What's not to love? All their merchandise is $1.25 plus but almost everything at dollarama has increased to $1.25 minimum so they are comparable now. I like their craft section and the junk food section. The best are the onion rings that are $1.25. These chips bring me back to my childhood. Huge bag for $1.25. They have lots of household items and trays for parties at a very cheap price. Parking isn't great on Fraser St though. read more

Love this place... Most "dollar stores" now have become a "dollar plus store" where you can find things from $1-50... But not Dollar tree everything is $1.25 and some are $1!!! Great stuff here from party stuff, home decor and supplies, food, and so much more! The staff is also very helpful and super friendly always has at least two cash registers open. read more

This is one of the bigger stores, so the selection is so much better. I love how I can get something here for only $1.25 + tax when its selling for triple the price elsewhere. First of all I don't understand how a Dollar Store can get less than 5 stars. Come on people this is as cheap as it gets for some stuff you would be paying $5 - $10 elsewhere of the same quality. I'm all about the cheap. In fact it's part of my culture heritage to be cheap (or frugal as my friends politely like to call me). I am very proud of my cheapness, therefore, this is heaven for me. The service isn't the best, however, the service at dollar stores are never the best and expected. It isn't The Bay after all. Cheap goods = cheaply paid labor. Great selection of random knick-knacks for (obviously) very recession/student/poverty/wallet-friendly prices. Pros: - Fairly convenient, central-ish location for that part of town - Hours are pretty solid, being open until 9pm - Takes all sorts of payment, including debit and credit, which is convenient - Helium tank on-site for those situations that require emergency balloon-inflation - Been able to find a wide variety of stuff here, including a ball pump (which I should have bought here, but instead paid four times as much at Canadian Tire) and even those limited edition aluminium Vancouver 2010 Olympic Coke bottles (souvenirs for out-of-town-ers on the mega-cheap) - It's a smaller location than the sorta massive two-floor one at Knight-Kingsway, but consistently better-stocked, with fewer sparse, empty shelves Cons: - Experienced some longer-than-desirable queues whilst waiting to pay, but still much better than the almost-always rammed Dollarama downtown on Seymour - Also experienced some quaint odours wafting about, and some nasty as-yet untended spills of mysterious fluids on the floor (hopefully isolated incidents, of course) Obviously, being a dollar store, it is what it is, so don't expect anything hyper-fancy, but I would vouch for this particular Dollar Giant as a solid example of its kind, good for random odds and ends, and also to appease that irrepressible urge to buy random things when you're roaming about Sunset with only a fiver in your pocket. read more

This place is DA BOMB! Last time I went there for scrapbooking materials, and they have a whole row of them! Some of the materials I saw there were cheaper than I got from elsewhere. But its $1.25, I can't complain on the already low pricing! They have a little of everything. So rather than driving to several places to get them, I can buy it all from one store. Saves time & gas. Worst part is parking, there are limited amount of space on the street available. Its free, so some people tends to park longer than they can. read more

This location appears to be a bit run down and probably needs some renos. I didn't see any new stock, although they do have a good collection on the arts & crafts section. Like any other dollar store, Dollar Tree sells anything from seasonal decorations, party supplies, household items, stationary, accessories, kitchenware to food items etc. Staff are usually able to assist. i've never met a business that refused to accept money. i was wanting to buy some helium balloons here but they will only blow up the foil ones. i told them i would even pay double for the regular latex (which they sell.) i brought back some foiled balloons which i was told could be reused if needed and they refused to blow them up as well. customer service was really lacking and if it wasn't for the wide variety of other products i would probably be only giving 1 star. read more

Parking is horrible at times but you can't keep knock the prices and location. I don't believe there's another dollar store in the area? The store is large and they have tons of selection. Due to the popularity of the store, inventory can be scattered from the customers and the staff try to keep up with stocking. Vancouver is an expensive city and stores like these definitely help. I was in Dollar Giant at 6464 Fraser Street in Vancouver (store 40011) the other afternoon with my family to purchase some craft items for Halloween costumes. While we were there my four year old son needed to go to the bathroom. I looked for a staff member and finally brought him to the checkout to ask if there was a bathroom that we could use. I was told that there were no washrooms for the public. When I replied that it was for my son I was given no assistance. Another man near the checkout asked what we wanted and we were told again that there are washrooms for the public - sorry. Not satisfied with this answer we went and knocked on the staff room in the back of the store. When someone answered we made the same request, for my son to be able to use the bathroom. The woman who opened the door said that he could go by himself, but that I would not be allowed to accompany him. When I protested, she suggested that I could not go in, but that his mother (shopping with us) could go instead. I'm insulted first of all, that the store doesn't provide facilities for the needs of its customers. I'm angry that someone would make the inappropriate suggestion that my son (remember, only four years old) could go into the back of the store by himself, with people that we don't know or trust. I'm also very insulted that my wife would be allowed to accompany him but that I was not. We now live in a place and time when fathers are actively caring for their children and need to be able to address their needs as they arise without question or placement of conditions. I've written to the company (the store is part of the Dollar Tree business) and have not yet received any response. read more

It's now Dollar Tree. I've been buying stuff in this store for more than 3years and today I got the most worst experience in any store here in Vancouver. After school my 2 sons and I got here to bought some stuff when I paying on the counter I gave $20 for $7.10 bill when I got my change it's $10 short. I ask the old lady about it and she said I gave her $10.wth I'm 100%sure I gave her $20 even my son told me its $20. But the old lady insisting that it's only $10. She even shown me the register that there's only 1 10 $ bill in it and it's mine. Am I her only customer? Maybe she needs to update her glassess. Bye bye dollar giant fraser.
