I also want to say the dental physicians are excellent- I don't have a problem with them at all. My exam was thorough and complete. I went in after not seeing a dentist after a year and a half because of a hectic work schedule. After being evaluated by the dentist, i was recommended a deep cleaning. I told the dentist i choose to opt out of it and just get the regular cleaning. Firstly I don't believe in the deep cleaning being any better and I don't have the time and lastly my crappy HMO insurance doesn't cover the full cost. The dentist very quickly agreeded no problem just sign a paper saying u only want a regular cleaning . The hygenist then approached me and gave me a very bad attitude- and said that the dentist recommended a deep clean and under the law she doesn't have to do a regular clean . (Btw the deep clean was 400 bucks out of my pocket) . I said I will waive every right I just need the calculus and tarter picked off and a cleaning which I've always had. I've read extensively about deep cleaning and ultimately me and many ppl online agree it's A SCAM! the hygenist wanted to pocket more money in the same time it would take her to do a regular cleaning. I was then taken to a private office after I tried to talk to the dentist again about the problem I was having. I WORK IN THE HEALTH CARE FIELD! I AS A PATIENT GET TO CHOOSE THE KIND OF CARE I WANT. Cause insigned a waiver (and also paid 200 bucks for...) HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE AT ALL. The doctor, the boss- said it's OK to get a regular cleaning and I was forced to get a deep cleaning. I ultimately chose to stop listening to the office manager all together and just left . I came in with a request which the dentist agreeded to. It was very simple. I should have never been involved. The hygenist is employed by the dentist and any issue should have been between them not the patient. THIS IS THE DEFINITION OF WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR HEALTHCARE SYSTEM. It' was and is always about money. THIS WAS HANDS DOWN THE WORST EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD. I was treated horribly. After applying aggressive pressure for approximately half an hour, she said it was my choice to proceed with the deep cleaning and unfortunately I did. On January 7, 2023, I went into the office for a cleaning, which is covered under my insurance. When I checked in, the front desk informed me that I was no longer eligible for a regular cleaning because I had a deep cleaning in August so I had to have another deep cleaning. This was not covered by my issuance so I would have to pay again out of pocket. No one from the office explained to me that if I agreed to do a deep cleaning, that I would no longer be "eligible" for a regular cleaning. After waiting for half an hour I was finally called in by Ms. Benner. She again described her experience and bragged about the fact that she also works at Nova. Then she began aggressively pressure me into another deep cleaning. I explained to her that I have been waiting for half an hour and the only thing I am there for is a regular cleaning. I told her that I am not finally prepared to pay for something that is not covered by my insurance. She said that finances are not her concern. She also said that she is not going to "perform the services I requested, she will do what she wants." The is the second time that Ms. Brenner attempted to force services onto me. She was condescending, rude, and in my opinion unethical.

Despite receiving insurance payments, my account does not reflect any contractual (EOB) adjustments that are required for in-network providers. Charges appear to be based on full billed amounts rather than the allowed amounts under my insurance plan. Additionally, several claims were submitted using incorrect procedure codes, which resulted in denials. These issues were not corrected or resubmitted by the office. I prepaid for services and have paid over $5,000 out of pocket. I have also confirmed the office received and cashed insurance payments, yet they continue to state I have a balance. Based on the payments made and proper application of insurance adjustments, my account should reflect an overpayment. Instead, they have not reconciled the account and have not issued a refund. At this point, it appears they are attempting to collect payment from both me and my insurance for the same services, which raises serious concerns about double billing. I was also told that billing my insurance was being done as a "courtesy" and that I would need to handle denials myself, which does not align with expectations for an in-network provider. I have made multiple attempts via email and phone to resolve this directly, including requesting a call with the doctor. Dr. Jennifer Muir has refused to communicate with me despite repeated requests, making it extremely difficult to resolve these issues.
