Our room was very nice located on the 1st floor facing the pool. We came for a 3 day stay…read more
The breakfast definitely makes sense to get it if its not included with your room. We saved a lot of money by using it every day. We booked this hotel because it is part of the Marriott autograph properties, we had no idea of the Domes hotel brand. We are well seasoned travelers and we love the Marriott brand for the diversity and the level of comfort they offer with each brand. Having just stayed at the autograph brand in Athens and Crete, we had an amaze experience at those hotels.
However, we noticed that service was underwhelming at the restaurants Topos and Blend. At the price tier these hotels charge, i think the staff should be attentive, knowledgeable and caring but that was not the case. We ate at both restaurants and the staff was not knowledgeable of menu items, the service was inconsistent, food was a bit bland for my taste, the staff at Topos seemed disengaged and not caring when it came to table service. I couldnt get a refill for beverages for the table because our waitress never came back to check on us.
Food for Topos was mediocre. Menu at pool side restaurant was bland. Best item from the menu was the smash burger and the fries, everything else was just ok. The ceviche had no salt, the poke bowl rice was hard
Blend is supposed to be a steakhouse and japanese cuisine.
I think they should reslly concentrate on the steakhouse concept as the jaoanese offerings did not meet expectations. Having tru some of the best Japanese food in NYC, this place was disappointing. The subsi amberjack and tuna olate we ordered, the fish was very cold and on too of that it was place on a bed of ice. The pork belly and the rump steak were very good. Probably the best items in menu.
The restaurant was half empty but yet they stated reservations were necessary. Staff was courteous but did not know ingredients of dishes, when we asked they couldn't tell us.
Topos was the worst experience we had a grilled octopus plate, grilled lamb chops and grilled tiger shrimp wit pasta. Also ordered a side dish of chorizo rice.
The octopus was bland, supposed to be grilled but it did not taste like it was grilled. Lamb chops were well done, American restaurants nirmally cook it medium bit the lamb chios were tasty and well seasoned. The rice dish, had no taste, not worth it. The pasta had no taste, the tiger shrimp was of a good size but overall the entire meal was disappointing and underwhelming service only added to a worst experience. Waitress taking care of our table had about 6 more tables to take care of. She gave us the main course and never even came back to check on us, i had to go look for the check. Even getting anither bottle of water was impossible and they did not even bother to pour water, we had to pour our own water. Couldn't get a beer because waitress did not check on us. Went tl wash my hands at mens athroom and out of 4 sinks, only one was working. I told the hostess the same and she just said ok. I ask to speak to the manager and told him what had happened and he listened but did not act on my feedback. Except to give me excuses for poor service and told me he was missing staff??
Underwhelming service & experience, combined with extremely poor service, confirmed staff is totally disengaged and not interested in providing a luxury experience for a hotel that rates itself as a autograph property for Marriott.
The hotel experience was fine, clean room, secluded location but the hotel dinning did not convince me to return to this property. Very unfortunate for a hotel of this caliber.
