I can't speak for the parents and kids who didn't get the same experience as we did, but to achieve results, you have to put in the blood, sweat and tears to have the gratitude of how enriching the experience is. Maybe it's just the mainstream media and politics that is brainwashing and herding the sheep mentality making today's generation of children's parents into thinking that every issue is a medical condition and the cure is medication and therapy? Trust the process!! Kids from my generation, we didn't have these issues because we went outside, played and were social. Nowadays, Tik Tok, video games, social media have made today's generation couch potatoes, introverted and just plain lazy. You have to tell your kids to go outside and play with other kids. Martial arts is a mental, physical and social stimulation interaction. I can't speak for the previous management, but current management and hired staff have the experience and knowledge to properly teach the basic fundamentals for a strong foundation moving forward. Pro: - You can do make up during the week without telling them ahead. Just show up. They won't turn you down. -great and enthusiastic instructors, especially leading instructor Charles. - kids are always engaged. Also emphasize in eye contacts and concentration. Con: - class size can go up to 15-20 kids in a small space but they have enough instructors/ assistants. Last two sessions I saw have 4 staff each. One session only has 8 kids so ended up 1:2 ratio. - part of the session they will divide the group. With two groups trying to yell loudly, it can be confusing and distracting for the little ones. - limited seating for parents to observe. Sometimes you walk in you don't lie where to stand so you won't block other parents. - Minus one star for small space. Conclusion: Will seriously think of joining long term after my groupon runs out. It will be about $1600 for 12 months for 2 sessions weekly. It is a great sport for kids and more importantly, I want my little girl to be able to defend herself. The instructions are amazing, so patient, professional, and adaptive. There are a LOT of kids in there some days and I don't know how they don't just pull their hair out and yell all day lol. But at home, all I need to do is tell my son I'm reporting his behavior to Instructor Jane or Grandmaster Suh, and he straightens out. It's like having the threat of Santa there all year round lol. But in all seriousness, they do learn discipline, respect, and patience. Any place that stressed those factors more, are winners to me. And yes it is pricey, but all these kid activities are.
