This family business is in its third generation and they were super friendly from the start. The weather was sunny and warm making it the perfect setting for everyone to be out on the lawn enjoying live music, wine, and food. Since we didn't bring any glasses, we had to purchase them to drink our bottle of Rose and do the tastings. The chilled rose went very well with the mixed platter. I went with the seafood paella and regretted it because it wasn't very good. The rice didn't have a lot of flavor and I should had known that the seafood wouldn't blow me away. Nothing has ever beat the paella I had in Barcelona ten years ago! I think it was just for the day though. They had several wines we could taste and let us decide what we would like to try after going through all the options. I tried orange wine for the first time which was a type of reisling. They had a granache which was really nice! Great experience and great stop if you're looking for a place in South Barossa.

Staff are friendly and helpful, and as well as selling wines, Kies also sells teas. There's a HUGE variety of teas and blends, and choosing is hard, because if you love tea, you want all the tea! There's a great selection of tea-ware too, cups, mugs, teapots, spoons, etc, which is bright and colourful. The attached cafe, called Monkey Nut Cafe, is great, good food and helpful, prompt service. But most people come for the wine, and it really is worth a drive up to the Barossa to enjoy the selection of reds, whites, a rose and ports.

This winery is only about 15 minutes from my friend's house and the view was splendid. We drove up to a packed parking lot and were hoping we'd find a seat. It's a boutique winery only open on the weekends. After heading straight to the open lawn and taking in the scenery, we headed inside to see if they had tastings available. They place all the bottles on the counter that they are available to taste so sometimes the items on the tasting menu they have in front of you isn't the same. The man who started our tasting for us wasn't the kindest and that's unfortunate because it cost the place a star. He was short and got us started for our tasting but then started serving other customers that came in. Another staff member continued and served us a few other options but a smile and a little more attentiveness to your customers would go along way. I loved the 2013 Sparkling Frontignac. OMG! It was very me. It's fresh, crispy, bubbly, and has touches of peach! I love peaches and the sip from start to finish was great! I really wish that I had purchased a bottle now. The food coming from the kitchen smelled wonderful! They had cheese platters, brushetta, and pizzas available. I wish we could come a little later so we could have had lunch but we started our tour here and ended up having coffees or a glass of sparkling in my case! Great place where I saw families with kids, big groups, a 50th birthday celebration, and couples. It's a place for everyone!

For such a long drive you would expect a lunch with fresh local produce but all they offer is set pre made pizza or bruschetta and that's it. The pizza was your standard Pizza Hut type deep pan pizza and no beer is available. They can't make 'flat whites' well. If on a budget and you just want a big slice of pizza and a glass of wine then this place is perfect but the winery lunch has moved so far from this place in recent years. Even with the pizzas after getting used to gourmet wood fired thin pizzas now available in so many places it was a bit hard going back to these old style thick greasy cheesey salty Pizzas. The bruschetta was good though but after that you don't feel like more of the same on a pizza. I suspect they cater mostly to locals and they do what they do well. With their set system they can serve a large number of people quickly so unlike other winery restaurants that try to get too complex you won't have to wait long. Great lawn area for kids and a great place for a big group on a budget. The service was prompt and everything was hot.

They sat us down and put glasses in front of us, and started pouring and explaining about the wine we were drinking. Our host was excellent and answered all of our questions. After about 3 or 4 tastings, 2 huge charcuterie platters arrived, and they were perfect and paired well with the wines. We worked our way up to the best wines, and each one was more impressive than the last. And while Fortified Wine was not on the tasting schedule, they let us try some of the Port, delicious! After our tasting, we walked around the property and took a great photo of our group in front of their sign. All in all, great wine, great winery adn friendly staff- I WILL be back!

Note that sometimes service can be a function of how busy they were. This winery rated 10th of the 13. On a five point scale, they were: Wine Quality - 3 Wine Selection - 5 Setting - 4 Service - 4 They have a large selection of Eden Valley whites, the broadest of the wineries we visited.

As for the wine, well, yeah, it's pretty good too.
