I've been lucky enough to visit the Domaine twice now, and I was treated to wonderful tours and tastings with the warm, friendly, creative, curious, talented, generous and wine-loving vigneronne Agnès Henry. The domaine is beautiful and in a gorgeous location, with old-vine vineyards directly surrounding the property. There is a lovely little tasting room which displays fun and wonderful bottles from the domaine's past and from other wineries around the world. There are some terrific wines being made here, and you can taste and purchase some of them right at the tasting room. If you are wine lover and in the region, I can't recommend enough a visit to this winery. The website is especially generous and informative, too! Call or write ahead, an appointment is recommended. They were softer wines with more fruit forward than the typical wineries from the Bandol appellation. These still did not convince us to buy any of them. Only 20 minute drive from city center Aix through windy roads of lush green hills and trees. So beautiful thru the driveway and into underground parking. They have a high end restaurant or an out door cafe which is nice after tasting wines or wandering thru the vineyard to see the many sculptures. (There is a fee to view the sculptures) Highly recommend a visit!

Dauphine hosted our, what turned out to be, private wine tasting. She was so fantastic, energetic, welcoming. Between our French and her very good English we enjoyed and bought some very good wines. After asked if there was a place for a picnic. She pointed to a lovely fountain area, then gave us the rest of one of the bottles of wine she opened for the tasting to finish with our lunch. This was the first, and obviously best experience in the wine country and would highly suggest this lovely winery and tasting room.

One of the staffers even gave us a personal tour of the chateau and the garden itself. I believe it was built in the 16th century, and the owners have plans to turn it into a high-end hotel. The surrounding area is also very picturesque, so the drive there was very nice. Inside the tasting room, the staff was friendly and welcoming, but did not offer much information about the winery or wines. A bit unusual in my experience with both US and French wineries. The wines I tasted were good, but not as good of a value as other wineries in the same area. I tried their rose, white, red and 100% grenache. I normally do not prefer white wines but enjoyed the white here. They sell a variety of other products onsite. Many of these seemed gimmicky, but I bought some olives and tapenade, without tasting them first, these both turned out to be delicious. I wish we were offered tastings of the olive oil, as I suspect this was quite good as well. I enjoyed the wine I brought back from the winery, but everyone keeps asking me why I didn't pick up more of the tapenade...

This hotel is so gorgeous. It feels like it was plucked from the pages of a restoration hardware…read morecatalogue, but we suspect RH got many of their design ideas from this type of place! It's a winery estate, with 22 rooms, a vineyard, an outdoor pool, and was originally a Working estate and home. It feels like a haven, with beautiful gardens and grounds, with walking paths and fountains, you hardly need to leave because it also has two restaurants on site, one a casual bistro, the other a stunning Michelin star rated restaurant. There is a full bar as well, and a lovely library for rainy afternoon relaxation. The majority of the employees speak English perfectly, but will entertain my poor attempts to engage in French. The hotel rooms are seriously like walking into a page from Restoration Hardware, the decode is elegant, the beds are comfortable (actual king size!) and they even pipe scents in throughout the hotel which are classy, understated, and leave you subtly sniffing around for the next Whig of something awesome. They also have a VERY small gym with some light dumbbells and cardio equipment, and a coed steam room. Anything you could want is here, with style and service beyond expectations.
