There are local tour guides who can walk you through the city and tell you some tidbits about the history and architecture. This was a refreshing place to get a decent lunch. Several outdoor tables, attentive waiter service and good geared toward most tourists - my companion opted for a steak with eggs and French fries : huge portion but she said her steak was tough. I got a theee course Plato de dia : the first was a revuelto or scrambled eggs with garlic chives , followed by slow roasted pork with a sweet sauce and lastly a custard made in the local style -it was a large portion again! I was not prepared for the huge servings, which also included a bottle of water plus €1 for Al fresco dining. By European standards, the bathroom is spacious. There are sofas to relax throughout. Too bad I didn't get a chance to enjoy the gardens. The shower was high pressure. They do have an elevator. They are pro-environment. The soap, shampoo and lotion are on bottles with pumps that stay in the room. The breakfast buffet had a pistachio cake that was to die for. They had a cheesecake too which is unusual for breakfast but quite welcome for those with a sweet tooth. There is a swimming pool for warmer months with lounge chairs. In fact, I saw some rooms with lounge chairs outside. There are no key cards but actual keys for your door. If I'm ever in Salamanca, I'd like to stay here two nights to enjoy the facilities at a leisurely pace.
