These guys opened their doors about five weeks ago. The owner realized there were few places to get Mexican food in Amsterdam, and even FEWER places to get GOOD Mexican food here! As a devotee of all things Tex-Mex, he decided to give it a go.
So... first things first: The full-sized burrito (I got the beef) is appropriate for an American-sized appetite. ;-) The beef is nicely seasoned; the rice and the black beans round out the base of this bad boy. Of all of the goodies he has in the counter to fill it out, I was a bit minimalist - I opted for the pico de gallo (which was excellent, I might add). And some FRESH jalapeños... they had a good bite! I rounded it out with his green chili sauce (the spiciest on the menu) and waited while he heated the now-stuffed tortilla on the plancha. Yeah - bravo! They even had Corona with a wedge of lime. Nice.
My wife has a smaller appetite. They suggested a "kid-size" meal for her, which looked pretty good to me! She opted for a chicken quesadilla - again with precisely the options she wanted on it - avocado, cheese and lettuce, with a wedge or two of fresh lime. The chicken was in a barbecue sauce, and was surprisingly tasty. She doesn't care for very spicy food, and they met her expectations very nicely. They even had a banana-(plus some other tropical fruit) and yogurt smoothie.
The folks here are incredibly nice. His English is excellent and the food is worthy. Do give it a try! read more
