Some very good flavors in an unexpected place! My tattoo artist recently recommended this place to me so I decided to stop in for some lunch after a good workout. The service was quick and very friendly, the place played some new and old tejano music, and the place was very clean and well kept! For food, I ordered the Birria (they claim they're known for it) and an extra taco of pastor and an a taco of carne asada. Everything was very flavorful and cooked well! The birria was absolutely delicious, good mix of cheese and meat, and the tortillas were nice and crunchy! Dont even get me started on the consomé! So flavorful! The only things I didn't "like" was the salsa, I believe, is made with some Mexican oregano (or maybe just regular oregano, sometimes hard to tell), which gives it almost a marinara taste and the corn tortilla on my pastor was very crumbly, making it a little hard to eat. Other than that, the food was delicious and the service was great! Will come back just to try some seafood next time!

Best authentic Mexican food hidden in a little corner of a strip mall off of Villa Maria in Bryan, TX. When i got excited to try it, I hadn't actually looked online at any reviews. I just know that my son and his girlfriend like the place, so I was there for an open mind. I grabbed a table while waiting for my oldest son and family to arrive and ordered a margarita... (Oof they don't sell those at this location) With my mind set on a margarita, I went with the dos esquís instead and a fabulous Cucumber Water!! The salsa was warm just as it should be served. Tortilla chips fresh and their guacamole is not something to write home about, but still good. I ordered the Camarones A La Momia and hands down the VERY BEST I have ever eaten! Even better the waitress (Diana) offered tortillas but in a way, she knew it wouldn't be necessary, meaning no wasted food. With great company, service and food I will surely visit here again!

$$$ I could not get the waitress attention. I couldn't get a fork or spoon (plastic is what they use) to eat the fallout of my (SMALL) cali burrito. So I used chips! It appears they make their own chips and salsa: chips are burned (see pic), but the salsa is great! Not too hot. I did get a refill of my tea, but the tables ordering beer gets the waitress attention (it is Wednesday noon and everyone is drinking beer). Food was good, I will come back to try more of their menu. Good taste, but small portions and pricy. $$$

Flavor: 2/5 Quality: 2/5 Portions: 1/5 Hospitality: 2/5 Cleanliness: 3/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Cost: $$$ (pricey) (read review) My order: carne asada fries + shrimp Well I have eaten here quite a few times and would normally rate it a little higher. But I've never been really satisfied. I'm done with this place though after my last visit. I ordered the carne asada fries and added shrimp. It came out to $18. Not sure why FOUR shrimp cost almost $7. But I try to just go with the flow when eating out so I didn't say much. When I finally opened up the togo box I was really sad. The box was barely half way full. Take a look at the picture to understand what I mean. Also the meat was extremely hard and ground up, like it was reheated and scraped off of the grill. Anyway, after a few visits with slightly messed up orders and inconsistent prices, I'm done eating here. I wish them luck though.

The inside is cute and more dimly lit. There are mostly table and chairs. There is medium noise level. The service is very attentive and friendly. I felt very welcomed and comfortable here! Hush puppies: It is pretty crispy and the inside is less sweet and more spicy. I did see bits of jalapeño inside. The flavor is very good and it was crispy. Fried shrimp: The fried shrimp tasted very fresh and it was well seasoned. Actually, kinda spicy if you cant really handle spice. The fries also had similar spicy seasoning. The food was very tasted though and decent portion. Boil-N-Pot: There is so much flavor in this dish. It is pretty spicy as the food soaks up the spices. It was a very good portion and variety. There was mushroom, corn, shrimp, potatoes. It was very delicious and reasonably priced.

It was a grown up portion. I got a mojito. Very good. She said they make their own syrups. My wife got key lime pie for dessert. Hmmmm mmmm good. Our waitress was awesome. She checked on us regularly without being a nuisance. It's a cool place. Nice inside and out.

When I tell you the spirit of Louisiana and NOLA was in the place! So you will miss the place if you aren't paying attention. The sign is small and the building looks like it used to be a church fellowship hall. It's not fancy and it's small, however, don't discount it. Don't judge a book by its cover and great things come in small packages. It's a family owned and run business. By the looks of it, it can probably seat 40 people and I'm pushing it with the number. However from the time you walk in until the time you leave, you feel like you're at your great aunt's house. It was five of us and when you walk in, it's seat yourself and first come, first serve. The food came out piping hot and cooked fresh. My husband and brother-in-law got the catfish platter with red beans and rice (no pork) and Mac-n-cheese. My sister and I got the Nawlins boil that had a crab cluster, shrimp, corn, potato, boiled egg and a sausage link. My nephew got a shrimp po-boy with fries. The food was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The fish and fries were crispy. The Mac-n-cheese isn't creamy but it isn't dry. Perfect amount of cheese and flavor. The red beans and rice had the perfect balance of flavor. The boil...my goodness the boil. They have the amount of the boil down to a science to make it a full meal. At first glance, I didn't think it would be seasoned well because the season looked like a dry rub. It wasn't saucy or juicy - until I took my first bite. I almost walked to the kitchen to kiss the cook. They are not skimpy on any of the food either. Even the po-boy had an overload of shrimp. When we were there, it was a packed house. There was also a large party who was rather disgruntled - not because of the service or food but because they were impatient. Remember this is a family owned business with 2 servers and maybe 3 cooks that cook to order. So if you're looking for quick food, this isn't the place. If you have time to sit, enjoy some great food with great company in a casual home style restaurant...this is your place.

The restaurant looks almost like a converted house from the outside, but nicely kept with parking around the side. The interior is simple but upbeat in its New Orleans decor. The owner cheerfully met us at the door and invited us to sit wherever we wanted. She was hajppy, helpful and patient throughout the visit. We ordered all of our favorites to try; gumbo, etouffee, catfish, shrimp, dirty rice. While I have had better crawfish etoufee, the shrimp and catfish were king! The fish was mild, cut in a thick filet and perfectly seasoned and cooked. The shrimp was also perfect and very pleasing. It was all served with a grilled piece of bread that went well with the meal. It's good to have these folks in Bryan. I would definitely dine at Remnant of Nawlins again.
