Had an amazing time visiting Frida's Kitchen and Bar in Bryan, TX. They had an artsy vibe with lots of decorations on the walls! There were a lot of options for drinks and food, and chips and salsa were complementary. The Mexican street corn was grilled and topped with a savory sauce, cheese, and spice. It was a good dish to share. The pork tacos were tasty, with lots of avocado and pickled onions on top, and spicy sauce on the side. It also came with rice and beans, so the portion was definitely large. They had a shrimp pasta, which was surprisingly tasty. It came with tons of shrimp and a slightly spicy and creamy sauce, as well as toasted bread on the side. The enchiladas were a solid option with lots of sauce and cheese on it. Great atmosphere inside with the murals and homage to Frida Kalho. The menu is legit Mexican with dishes like mole and chile en nogada. If you know, you know. It did not disappoint. They provide variety of salsa, including a bean dip that is great. Ask for the hotter chile de arbol too. The colifor appetizer was amazing!! About the closest thing to Tex-Mex are the fajitas so don't go expecting some plate full of some random red sauce covered in cheese. We recently visited Frida's Kitchen & Bar while in College Station for a game and date night, and we had a wonderful experience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with vibrant, colorful murals and has a romantic, welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Service began with complimentary chips and dips, which were fresh and flavorful. We started with the Queso Fundido--such a generous portion, and we finished every bite. It was really good. For our entrées, we ordered Mima's Pasta Poblana and a half order of the Barbacoa. The Barbacoa was flavorful and very well done, but our favorite dish by far was Mima's Pasta Poblana--delicious, unique, and memorable. Service throughout the meal was good, everything was reasonably priced, and the overall experience was excellent. Why 4 stars? Because we had a mixed experience, but a good one, overall. --- --- --- I had previously been to College Station one time, well more than a decade ago and had spent absolutely zero seconds thinking of my life thinking about restaurant options in the area. Upon doing some food research with an upcoming visit on the horizon, I was surprised at the lack of intriguing options, but ultimately settled on Frida's, which looked to be one of the best of the bunch. We started off with some queso fundido and it was everything that dreams are made of. Why is melty cheese the perfect food? I don't know, but please add much of it to my casket one day. 5-stars. For my main course, I went with the birria tacos and they were perfectly solid. Not the best I've ever had, but above average. 4-stars. My wife ordered the fajitas and these were a big miss. I took one bite of a beef fajita and it was clearly very low grade beef. They didn't come out super hot (definitely not sizzling) and were a pretty big disappointment. 2-stars. Our son's chicken quesadillas were actually my favorite thing of the entire meal. In retrospect, I wish I had just ordered these for myself. 5-stars. The service was also really great - not only our server, but multiple people came to check on us throughout the meal and they could not have been friendlier. I don't rate places very often these days, but there's no way I can skip over this place. This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been in. The mural alone is worth a visit, but there's a pervasive sense that whoever owns this place seriously cares about what's happening. The food is exceptional. The only thing that I didn't care for was the refried beans, but that's on me, I'm just not a fan. The place is gorgeous, it's a really great environment to simply be in. The food was legit exceptional. The service was the best I've come across in Bryan. This place is solid as hell, check it out. I'm still reeling by how good it was. Even the plates were cool; someone thought through every detail and obviously wanted to make it perfect, and it shows. I love places where they strive for excellence, and this one is the best possible version of that. read more

He said it was the best he has ever had. (Oh yeah!) And you know I ordered dessert. The carrot cake does not have nuts so that's a huge win! The cake size was more than enough to share and delicious! This place is perfect if you love authentic Mexican food. Their pozole is homemade and delicious. The only thing I would change is using cabbage instead of lettuce :) My husband had the quesabirras tacos and those there great as well. Give them a try! Kudos to Anna and Gavin. I heard good things about this restaurant and we were in the area, so I thought we would check it out. It is located in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. The first thing I noticed when we walked in were the beautiful murals. The restaurant itself was very attractive and the service was great. When you are seated, they greet you with fresh chips and 3 sauces, which were exceptional. We ordered guacamole (served with chicharrones) and it was some of the best guacamole that I've had in a while. I also ordered a Jamaica to drink, and not only was I thrilled that they served Agua frescas, but it kinda had a smokey flavor which was unique but delicious. We split the birria tacos, which was served with consomme and jalapeño green sauce (my favorite). We also ordered the flan to go. Everything we had was amazing. I highly recommend. read more

Complimentary homemade chips and salsas (plus a welcome queso) were delicious. Cocktails were uniquely amazing! Appetizer of Elote was nicely done on strips of cob drizzled with Mexican cheese. Food arrived warm and was inviting - Veggie, and Carne Asada tacos snd Chicken Mole. Very flavorful and a welcome departure from the usual Tex-Mex. I saw this restaurant be recommended on the Facebook page for TAMU Parents and we decided to give it a try when we came to drop off my son and it did not disappoint. The decor is absolutely fantastic (I love Frida) and the food was all great. We started with the street corn and it was one of the best I've had. We also tried the Birria tacos & the flautas. It should be more of a 4.5 stars, but I feel it is justified to go with 5 as 4.5 is not an option. We stopped by for a dinner. Let me start with the warning - beware of homemade tortilla chips! They are highly addictive. Chips were served with 3 dipping sauces, and one of them, refried beens, was beyond addictive - we went through two servings of that sauce and two servings of chips without even noticing. We shared roasted cauliflower as an appetizer, and it was superb - tasty and generous. I took mixed beef and chicken fajitas as my main dish. Me and my family visited college station over the weekend and we had the best experience at Frida's not once but twice! Everything was so tasty from the barbacoa to the carnitas, the sopes, and the enchiladas. I loved their frozen margaritas. Not too sugary or too alcohol forward. Service was terrific. The chips were fresh and the dips were equally flavorful. The seating was very comfortable as we were seated at the table that has couch seating. If you want the couch, arrive early as there is only one couch. The other side and table has chairs. They are also comfortable because they are sturdy and have a wide seat. The food was delicious and looked exactly like they were advertised. The service was amazing as well. We had the server, Wendy, and she was attentive and helpful while ordering. Bonus Points: I appreciate it when my server refills my drinks before I even have to ask. This is a place that would succeed in Austin or Houston or the San Antonio Riverwalk and we're lucky to have it in Aggieland. Friendly service from helpful servers. They start you off with excellent chips and two salsas (red and green) and tasty black bean dip. Great start to the meal. Be sure to order the mild but sophisticated Chile en Nogada with its rich walnut sauce and traditional picadillo filling stuffed into a big chile. The fideo (La Sopa de Mamá ) is the ultimate comfort food and the enchiladas Mexicanos are fantastic. The mole is very very rich and complex. I liked it but I couldn't eat an entire dish of it because it's so rich. The dense velvety uber-vanilla flan is enough for 3 or 4 people to share after a filling meal for a perfect ending. Craving Mexican food, we decided to check out Frida's, and we're glad we did! They have a great happy hour with $4 draft beers. We were pleasantly surprised with complimentary chips (tortas) served alongside three tasty toppings: refried beans with queso fresco, a tangy tomatillo salsa, and a classic tomato salsa. I ordered the sopa de la mama (fideo) and asked if they could make it like a fideo loco with ground beef; just how we like it back in San Antonio. For drinks, we ordered Horchata and Cafe De Coco. Both drinks were great. Our brunch also came with a complimentary chips and dip. The chips were so crunchy and the green and red salsa and some kind of black bean dip were all delicious. Staff are very friendly and fast. Large parking lot. As always, frida's was delicious! the service was great and the food on point! love the ambiance of this place- i think i heard they would like to expand next door because it is a smaller setup- we called ahead on saturday night to make sure there would be space for us- we came at 6:00 and it was fine but definitely started picking up at 7- most tables full. This was our first time to try their beef fajitas and it really was great- the meat was super tender- it was just overall a great fajita experience. Frida's Kitchen and Bar is a gem tucked away just off Texas Avenue near North Street in Bryan that we discovered about six months ago. The food is creative, delicious and beautifully prepared. Frida's breakfast/brunch menu will set your tastebuds to dancing. We also enjoy their outstanding lunch and dinner selections. The service is always welcoming, friendly, helpful and efficient. Tonight, we ordered new selections from the menu. In addition to the fresh house-made chips and salsas, we started our meal with Queso Fundido and flour tortillas. My son chose to try the Mole which he pronounced as excellent especially with the spicy sauce that came with my Taco Carne Asadas. My husband ordered the Birria Tacos which were also delicious. Our waitress tonight was Jennifer who was a pure delight. She was friendly, provided great information and recommendations regarding the menu selection, was both attentive and efficient. We will ask for her in our future visits. The only disappointment was that everything was so delicious that we didn't have room in our tummies for Frida's outstanding Flan which we have had in past visits.
