Don Drumm is one of my favorite places in the world! If you are looking for a unique gift or something special for your own home, go here first. As I write this, I'm sitting on my couch, and just looking around, I can see 9 items I've purchased at Don Drumm. First timers should be aware of a few things: 1. This is fine art. If you're looking for something crafty, this isn't the place for you. 2. Although there are certainly pieces available in nearly every budget, know that this is generally priced on the higher end. 3. The gallery is tight. I do not recommend people with mobility issues (especially those with canes or walkers) attempt entry. It is not wheelchair accessible. Avoid bringing in backpacks or large purses. 4. If you can, go on a weekday to avoid crowds, especially during Covid. 5. Park in one of the two lots located across the street instead of the one directly in front of the gallery. That one is tough to get out of. read more

Friends and family have been asking my fiancé and I where we are registered, and our answer has been nowhere, because we have all the things we need and we hate stuff. But to people who really love us and who really want to give us a non-monetary gift to celebrate our upcoming wedding, I've been saying: buy us art! A dear friend of the family gifted us two beautiful pieces from Don Drumm studios and gallery: a Christmas ornament and a trivet. I love the distinctiveness of Drumm's style and that Drumm pieces are distinctively Akron art (I'm a northeast Ohio native, so this is important to me). The informational card that came with the gift reads that Drumm is a pioneer in using cast aluminum as an artistic medium, and the trivet is exquisitely described as a "cast aluminum cooking sculpture." Now that's the sort of item I am thrilled to add to our home. We have it leaning against a wall in the kitchen because it really is art and shouldn't be hidden in a cupboard. I've never been to Drumm's studios and gallery, but next time I'm back home in the ak rowdy, I will definitely stop by. Especially if I need a present for a loved one or for myself! read more

Yet another review under the category of "better late than never"....we visited this gallery the last time we were in metro Cleveland and it was quite a treat! There's a huge selection in two buildings (which are much larger than they seem from the entrance) and it's like a museum. I could easily have bought a lot more than just the two items I chose, as there were many temptations. You can get a good idea of the selection from the web site, but I really recommend a visit if you're in that area. There are even three courtyards - and there are many wonderful (not large) outdoor sculpture pieces for sale, all the way down to tiny/intricate items. read more

What a cool gem we have here in Akron. Don Drumm's pieces can be spotted a mile away! I love visiting the gallery. My son is in Boy Scouts & needed to visit a gallery as part of his Art Merit Badge. We decided to go there & look around. We told the clerk in the gift shop about the reason behind our visit & she quickly arranged for him to get a behind-the-scenes tour in their work room. It was so generous of the artist to share what they did, right before closing time on a Saturday! The gift shop always has cool gifts for anyone. For me, I like the Drumm pieces! read more

So my entire family has been collecting Don Drumm pieces forever. Now my aunt even sells his work in Tampa. My mother and all of her sisters have collected his work and that is why I am drawn to his work. The other day I was in to buy something for a built in bookcase. I decided to buy the candle holder. I did and I paid and put it on my Amex. Today I am shopping and receive a call from the young man who checked me out. He had the nerve to call me because he "undercharged me by $10" and wanted to know if I would pay the additional $10. This was close to a $300 purchase and you are going to call me over $10, TACKY!!! So I am over Don and will stick with other artist who don't make their employees call over $10 when I have spent over 3k in his studio!!!! read more

Don and his family of artists and extended family of artists they represent make ak rowdy special. The houses form a cool corner and although its notthe safest area, it has grit and heart and I like that. Always find something I can't live with out and its great to shop local and support these great artists. Plus, you can shop online, which i often do from sunny AZ. Even though somethings are pricey, Christmas ornaments and key chains from here are special enough to make a great gift. Truly unique. read more

I went in this store today for the first time in at least 15 years. My dad used to always buy my mothers anniversary gifts from here. Was looking forward to buying lots of gifts today. Though the art and gifts are unique and beautiful, I put down over $400 worth of items today because of a female employee of this studio. During a busy Saturday, this female SCREAMED at me while I was looking at artwork, trying to decide between two items. I took a picture to send to a family member for approval - immediately jumped back by her loud words. I turned around to find the entire store starring at me. She tried passing it off as a joke (since pictures ARE allowed). . She kept repeating how hysterical it was. I let her know I took her words seriously, offered to delete the photo. Ive been to MANY studios that threaten to take your phone if it's out. I respect their wishes, would never question someone for requesting "no photos". I didn't find any of her loud behavior towards me comical, she simply wouldn't let it go - her constant laughter made me force myself to not even look her in the eye. Another male employee even commented how high he jumped at how loud she yelled at me. Totally embarrassed, I showed much dissatisfaction and disappointment in her unprofessionalism, put my items down and walked out. read more

Really great artsy/craftsy place near the University of Akron campus. Located right behind Taco Bell, this place is in the the most unfit of areas. But the store is big and has numerous handmade items which will just tug at your will power. Expensive for a college student though. Definitely worth checking out ! Beware - Parking is a disaster, their private lot is tiny and impossible to maneuver around. read more
