It's wonderful that Rotherham has a ladies team, and a lot of the cities up here in Yorkshire and the North East do, so kudos to this region for promoting women's soccer. First hand experience: The guy who owned the bed and breakfast I stayed in, during my tour, in Rotherham, has a sister who is involved with this team (and with many different men too. Okay just kidding). So they took us to a game, and I was really impressed! They are a much more skillful team than the men, to be perfectly honest with you. They're much more about skill and passing it on the ground than the hoof-ball that the men play. We had a great time watching them and it was very entertaining. RULFC aren't the best ladies team in the country, but they're doing pretty well, they're fun to watch, and they're a team to be proud of for this little town that for too long has been overshadowed by Sheffield.

I played a concert in Doncaster and then came here the very next afternoon, before my evening concert in Sheffield. It also has a small lake to walk around and lots of space for kids to run around. I went once with my son when the races were on (we didn't actually go to the races, just the park), but it was still great viewing as you could stand and wait for the horses to run past you. My first visit to the stadium was in April 2022, as I watched Manchester City defeat Leeds 4-0. There are a good number of buses that serve the stadium, which run close to Leeds Railway Station, although the wait before and after the game can be quite a long time. The ground staff and stewards seemed friendly enough and welcoming towards away supporters. I did find it a little difficult to find the away end, which did involve walking the terraces and streets around the ground, signage to find entrances could certainly be an improvement, but this may be down to the local council. The atmosphere in the ground was very good, the ground regularly seemed full and hopefully, an expansion is on the card soon, as it seems Leeds could certainly fill more than the 37,792 capacity they have now. For an older stadium, the facilities were rather good including a Club Store, and a large screen showing the scoreboard and replays. Certainly a stadium worthy of Premier League status. 4*

Last night we attended Labyrinth in concert at the venue. We were in the upper balcony, centre…read morestage. There were two women on the back row being disruptive, loud and one of the women had clearly had a lot to drink. We asked them politely to keep the noise down and this fell on deaf ears (probably because they were too loud to hear it). Their behaviour was ruining our experience so once the show came to the interval, we found two members of staff and alerted them to the situation. At this point another patron came up to us and advised the staff that they were unhappy with the two women's behaviour too, and that a group of people had left because of the two women and that multiple people had already asked to move seats because of the disruption. We were told by the staff that a supervisor was on the way, no supervisor ever materialised. We were told that the two women would be spoken to. We watched as the two staff members went to where the women were sitting but did nothing, the disruptive women were never spoken to. The interval was almost over and our party of four did not want to spend the second half next to the badly behaved women and it was clear that the staff were going to do nothing about them. We were offered to move seats to the end of balcony on the left side of the stage, but we felt this view was restricted and not as good a view as our previous seats. We asked if we could move downstairs where there was multiple four seats available but were told we could only stay in the balcony area. I feel this was astonishingly poor customer care, that we felt penalised for the behaviour of others. We lost better seats, lost half of the performance whilst the women who were causing the disruption were allowed to carry being awful to everyone around them, spoiling people's experience and never being questioned. When we were leaving the venue, I went to retrieve my ticket for my umbrella which had been taken aside by a member of staff. There were no staff around for me to hand my ticket to and then I saw that my umbrella alongside other people's belongings had been left on a table where anyone could take these and walk off with them. I then found a member of staff by the doors and asked her who I could speak to about making a complaint. I was met with a stony faced woman who just said 'there's an email address on the website', no 'I am sorry to hear that' no shred of customer care or anything, just a poor end to a terrible experience. I feel incredibly aggrieved that each ticket for our party cost £48.64 each, we spent a total of £194.55 for a night that was ruined by the behaviour of two people and that the staff were aware that these two women were ruining the show for multiple people yet their response was to move everyone else and leave the offending people to continue to act appallingly with no comeback.

The venue is just the right size to be able to get a good view even at the back of the hall. The sound also carries well in there unlike some bigger venues. They seem to attract quite a lot of bands, particularly older bands who can still attract a good crowd. There are numerous bars in the city hall, all of which are quite expensive but no more so than other event venues. There are also icecream sellers. It's also seems that you don't have to queue for the loo for hours unlike at the bigger venues.

First-Hand Experience: I've seen them play live only once, and that was at home at the Don Valley Stadium, which was their interim stadium before their excellent new one was built. I should have seen them at their previous ground too but a girl distracted me and I didn't go in. So to speak. I'm not a huge fan or anything, but I do respect the team and how well they've been doing so they get a solid three stars. It's been awhile since I saw them live so I'll have to rectify that soon. They were formed in 1925 but their roots go back to the late 19th century. They won the first ever League Cup which has to go down as a huge win because for a team the size of Rotherham (small town just outside Sheffield) to win a major trophy is huge. Their stadium only holds 12k for example. It's amazing that they're in the second tier right now, punching above their weight. They came up to the division as play off winners in 2014. They play in red and have never been in the top division but have often been in the second tier. Despite being the first team ever to win the League Cup, I can't give them more than a 3 because they are such a small team with a small fan base, but their presence in the upper divisions is a real fairy tale.
