That's when I started calling around for help. Most places I called were quick to ask what was wrong and immediately quote me a fee just to come out. I was considering one of them until I spoke with Meigs. He was awesome. He told me he offers free quotes over the phone, but he didn't just give me a quote. He actually tried to help me troubleshoot the issue right then and there. He spent about 10 minutes on the phone with me, calmly walking me through step-by-step instructions. He suggested there might be another GFCI hidden somewhere else in the house or even in the garage. The garage hadn't even crossed my mind, but it made sense since the restrooms are closer to that side of the house. Since we don't live at the property, I wasn't there at the time to test it. I told him we'd try it when we were back there later in the week. I must've sounded a little flustered because he kindly said, "When you get there, call me if you need me," offering to walk me through everything again if necessary. Sure enough, when we checked the garage, there it was, a GFCI outlet we hadn't noticed before. We reset it, and everything worked like a charm. There was power again in the restrooms downstairs. He is writing me an invoice, and refunding me $300, which is better than a complete loss, although I am still out $200 and another electrician will have to replace it all during an upcoming kitchen remodel (which is what prevents me from having the service man just re-do his work).
